Jake Pickett ...I agree one hundred percent. Coyotes are very hungry up there right now, along with every other predator. Most people don’t know how high coyotes can jump straight up. Crazy high!
Jake Pickett ...they actually can jump up tp 13+. I’m an animal rehab volunteer and have learned lots about our wildlife. It’s the end of winter and these guys are desperate. I hop all stays well for them.
We installed cameras a few weeks ago and everyone is always watching! We’ve had 2 lambs give birth so far and one had complications that we probably wouldn’t have caught in time had we not had the camera.
Good afternoon New Ham Shire .... hope Willow is doing well. Little P is showing you what a goat can do when they want to ... she's always been a jumper as you well know. Best of luck with all your farm goings on ... btw ... I would plug that hole above the door in the birthing stall .... bobcats can get through just about anything they can squeeze their head through. Take care AL, Gina & Olivia.
I'm watching , for the first time, from my computer monitor. My wife and I have been watching, together, on our 75 in living room TV. I have never been able to read or leave comments until now. We enjoy following your progress as you grow you homestead. Keep up the good work.
We have been following you guys for about two years now. I found your channel because I was looking for a video on, How to build a chicken tractor. I watched your $30 chicken tractor video and that was it. My wife said to me , " wow, that guy is very organized, you should pay attention and learn something!" been watching every since. But no amount of watching is going to make me as organized as Al Lumnah! Al is somewhat of a perfectionist and I'm a "that'll do" guy. LOL!!!!
Told my wife, " I'm going to build a new Chicken coop" she said, " maybe you should hire someone with some skills, like Al, we know how your chicken coop is going to turn out!" I said " yep, your right!" So, if I could get Al to come down to South Alabama, to build me a chicken coop!
Little P can fly! We use the Wyze cameras around our farm. I'm stalking my donkey right now! I hope things go smoothly with Willow, Will we have to wait until Thursday for the baby video? Maybe a special Wednesday edition? Blessings to all.
Well, I’m not in lock down...so let’s get them babies birthed so the greenhouse built can commence!!😁 I’ve got to say Al, having you able to make the channel a full time operation and the whole family now focusing on this, is as big a blessing for us as it is for you! You work harder doing all this than most folks do working outside the home...so we appreciate you taking us along, inspiring and teaching while you learn stuff yourself. You all have done a phenomenal job!!! Tip of the hat 🎩! Now let’s get the job done Willow!!😁 And the pigs 🐖!! Let’s not forget the pigs 🐷!! Stay safe and healthy! Our prayers for you all!
I was happy to see that we weren't the only ones waking up to snow in April 😃 Only difference is we are in California. Thanks for being an inspiration to all of just starting out on the homesteading journey!
Seriously Al you build anything beautifully. I used to watch Norm Abramson build things but Al you are by far my all time favorite. Gina if you read this, you married well , good for you and your precious family. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.
We're all hanging out here on baby watch. I'll keep my phone close in case you decide to throw us a special announcement 🤗 How many chickens do you raise a year to feed a family of 3? Really like the look of the birthing stall. You always do such nice work. Olivia, you are a beautiful and gentle young lady.🤗 I enjoy watching you with your chicks and how caring you are with your goaties 😁 God bless you all 🙏💕
I'm so excited , you all are going to be so busy with all the babies on the homestead, have a feeling the piggies are coming soon.Be safe and God Bless your family.
Anticipation!!!! It making me crazy..... Lol!!! We won't know until Thursday! Very thing knows something is "going-down",and we are all waiting... LOVE THE DOOR!!!! It is sweet looking. And would be cute inside house too! Thank you for sharing your journey and stay safe. Many blessing on you and your family.
I just love your family!! You bring peace and relaxation in a time of alot of chaos... very nice to see family's together 🥰GINA IS AWSOME KEEP LOVING THEM GOATS GIRL THATS SO CUTE !!!
Glad yall fixed that, it had me worried, but I would block that space above the door too, a bobcat can easily get up through there. I have had bobcat issues, they are stealthy. Hope Willow delivers with no issues.
I believe that a coyote could easily get through that opening above the door. You have the skills to make a wedge for that area. Then you can rest easy knowing that the stall is critter proof.
Willow: You tall human, did not give me enough material to make a birthing bed. Send in that smaller human, she seems to know what she's doing. ;) Good job Pluto, seems you have more finesse than Tanman. ;)
Great job with the birthing stall! Now they will be safe and we will be able to see everything with that camera :-) just a thought… I know it’s not a priority but maybe the chickens will stop getting out if you’re able to move New Yolk City to a new pasture area
Love , Love the Organization! It makes life SO Much Easier! Also, if you have the Correct Tools, it SAVES So Much Time! Great Job, Guys L9ve Your Farm and I really Appreciate learning New things from All of You, Especially in the Tmes we are living in Now! God Bless! : )
Good morning Al ,Gina and Olivia. Excellent job on the goat birthing bay! Reminds me of horse stalls. And the camera is a great way to check. I remember my former neighbor would put a baby monitor in the sheep stalls. That was back in the 1970s! Now it feels like I have taken a trip back in time, as we implement all those Mother Earth skills we learned back then. We used to barter goods and services, since none of us had any surplus money! I can see that returning. The internet has given you a wonderful platform to teach people how to homestead. It is invaluable, especially today.
With them jumping out the open top doors would it be worth it to make replacement doors for the summer months using the same fencing you used for securing the birthing stall? A nice screen door for the goats to let air in and keep them from getting out.
Mayb little P needs some ankle weights? Lol Alot of cuteness going on there! All your animals are getting alittle whiff of spring! Hopefully the forest animals stay away and move on!
SNOW!!!! NOOOOO! I built some new raised garden beds and planted some strawberries hopefully we dont get any cold. We have a goat cam as well. its a good investment.
I had a feral cat get into my patio room screened window to get the rabbit I had in there. The bunny hid under cover squealing, I ran in there and that cat ran like a lizard up and down and all around the walls and screen like something I’ve never seen. Then it made it to the window screen it came through. I’d hate to see a bobcat get in there. Winter pickings are sparse. Praying for safety.
Your Wife, should have LONGER COOKING TIME IN HER PART OF THE SHOWS, very entertaining and educational. Please try to make your shows Longer, they are SOOOO GREAT!!! WE LOVE LUMNAH ACRES!!!!
I really enjoy watching the love & care ya'll give to all the animals. I wouldn't leave anything to chance when it comes to predators because when it happens, it happens fast. I think that triangular opening above the door should be enclosed too. Olivia's chicks roof opening up above should be addressed too. Great job here folks & thanks for sharing your experience in these trying times. I too believe there is light at the end of the tunnel as our president has stated, it is called " HOPE "... Bill on the Hill, Vermont... :~)
I think you need to raise up the lights a little in the brooder. They seem to be trying to get away from the heat a little bit. Can't wait to see what Willow has....lol
Yippy baby goats coming! You will have to get 2 harnesses for the dogs when Olivia walks them because of the way they pull it is hard on their throats. That's what I had to do with mine.
Quite Possible a Coyote could squeeze through that Top area. They are surprisingly agile and cat like getting in tight spaces.A Bobcat could easily breech it. Peace and Bring on the Kids Willow!
Great Video! Can't wait to watch later today the birth! Love that camera as soon as we are able we plan to pick one up will use the link! Great price!!
Once they get this size I set the water on a 2in thick wood scrap. This raises the water and it will be somewhat cleaner. I stopped hanging it as they used it as a swing!
If you want to ring the changes slightly with your seasoning try using smoked paprika instead of ordinary paprika. The flavour is rich and definitely adds a warmth :D
Our goat jumped a five foot paddock fence got out into the road and then a lady stopped to catch him and he jumped into her car and she couldn’t get him out so she drove to a friends farm where he had a herd of goats and he saw all the ladies and jumped out.....lol...we were so glad the lady liked animals......she thought it was funny.......
You now need an inside swinging wire door top fo that goat sleeping area.... Inside swinging will let you open the outside swinging door top but will lock little P In !
The other day when you showed walking into that pen I though wow animals can get in and also that's going to get awfully cold for babies but I'm not a Homesteader and don't know anything about goats. I also though well maybe they've got a door they close. That would be a cute pantry door! Stay safe! God Bless
If they can get out the half door, they also can get out of the green gates too. They are the same hight and once they learn they will do it again. You should close off the top of the door to be safe anyway. If you hinge the door on the other side you could go all the way to the roof with the wire fence. Also make the door open to the outside, because your goat may be behind the door when she gives birth.
Hi Al and Gina what a great job you are doing for Willow to protect her, perhaps a rubber skirt on the bottom of the door to stop predators and drafts coming into the barn. It would help to keep her warm for her and her new babies.
Perhaps boarding up the open entrance to the side barn where Willow is , as a temporary measure would ensure her safety and will be warmer and more secure.

Nice and great idea.
