I'm here because of Eddie Murphy on JKL. Everyone here is so talented and so many great singers. Goldie Hawn singing? Tony Danza tapdancing? I never knew. This was essentially a eulogy for him while he was still alive since he passed shortly afterward. What a great performer Sammy was. And the lack of pretentiousness. The guest list was alphabetical- how unique. And at the end when he had a personal thank you for everyone that made them laugh. So genuine

This is a truly wonderful show, packed with some of the world's late, most beautiful people & finest talents, albeit gone too soon.
A beautiful show & great memories to cherish & enjoy indeed.
To hear & see Sammy Davis's childhood & life stories, my goodness, WOW!!! He was such an adorable child & when he tap danced here, i was simply mesmerised!! Just amazing!
Here's the thing, we see so many Shirley Temple videos doing tap dancing/hard shoe dancing, yet here we have our own Sammy Davis Jr as a child prodigy, dancing like the true professional & with such exceptional talent & charisma, yet, we never really heard or saw as much of him as we'd have liked on film.
I really think he's been quite underrated, maybe not by everyone as many did love & appreciate him, but still not appreciated enough, both within the US & globally.
He was such a talented man & it's as though he was born to be on the stage, standing both front & centre, which he sure did!
It's great that he was well recognised & so deservedly rewarded for his 60th Anniversary Celebrations, just prior to his sad passing.
I loved him & boy do i miss him, as i miss all those who've died here. :-(
May Sammy Davis Jr & all late stars here, rest in eternal peace & we thank God for the gift of their lives & the raw talent & joy, that they all brought their loved ones & all of us too.
Thank you Reelblack, for sharing this with your viewers.
We do appreciate all the effort, that you put into all of your awesome videos.

I like watching the older award shows and honoree shows because they are so classy and the performances are elegant (no raunchy stuff or half naked women)! And the music was better back then as well.
I enjoyed Eddie hosting the show. He was crazy and funny and his intro of Stevie was awesome! My girl Whitney was fabulous as always and of course, MJ is just a great entertainer! All the performances on here were great to watch! I must say I truly enjoyed Sammy and Gregory tap dancing together. Gregory solo and him wit Sammy was great! Sometimes they thumbs down a video because of it's video quality, or sound quality or it's length or any combination of any two or three of those reasons.

I met Sammy's daughter in an airport years ago. She said she remembered card games in her living room with Sinatra and Dean. She said her father was somewhat absent... But loving. What an honor to hear a first tale. She NEVER said anything bad. Just that she wished she'd spent more time. Don't we all?

@@user-kb1hw2yq2f I hear you, but SD Jr had to work & he possessed such raw talents.
He'd been a child prodigy, so it was in his blood & so meant to be.
In a world back then, whereby being black was a crime in many ways & whereby life was difficult & hard to get by, for many people of colour, SD Jr was blessed with life opportunities & he made the most of them until he passed from this earth.
He was a good person & a loving Father & @ the end of the day, the LOVE would always be remembered & would far outshine any memories of a bad Father, which for SD Jr, there were no bad experiences to remember, because he wasn't a bad Father.
There are parents who are indeed very present, but this doesn't always automatically equate, to being a completely & consistently, loving, dedicated & respectful parent.

OMG! Such a wonderful time in the history of the arts! Some of the greatest artists in American history were on that stage! Each GIANTS! in their own rights. I’m so happy I was born in the mid 50’s into a family of ten children. My eldest sisters were born in the 40’s my mom was born in 1918. So we were exposed to every type of popular entertainment from the 20’s all the way to the 90’s! I feel so blessed to have been born when I was. I feel that the field of entertainment has lost so much! The caliber of artistry has gone downhill IMHO! Thank goodness for all of the variety shows that showcased all of these artist and more! The earlier times will never repeat themselves again, but thank God! for RUclips and the internet to take us down memory lane!!! ❤️😊🙏🏽

Thank you for sharing this! I've only seen pieces of the celebration over the years, and I am overwhelmed with joy and love. I grew up watching most everyone who performed this night, including Sammy himself. I'm speechless at how beautiful the tribute was. It's sad, of course, because the world would lose him just a few months later, and most of those who spoke or performed have left us, too. That really gets me. Death is inevitable, yes, but some of the ones filled up with magic are gone. I look at the entertainment industry now with confusion. These were the days of quality and most young ones today don't even know these people's names. I don't understand.
RIP Sammy, Altovise, Sinatra, Dean, Hope, Pryor, Nell, Diahanne, Whitney, Gregory H., Michael, Gregory P., and Ms. Ella Fitzgerald. Thank you all for making my world a little bit brighter. I'll never forget you and will always love you. Lastly, love and admiration to the presenters and performers still among the living: Debbie, Lola, Goldie, Clint, Shirley, Cosby, Eddie, Jesse, Q, Magic, Danza, Anita, Mike, Dionne, and Stevie.
