    Badass that you saved your dad's grill! Those were the only types of grills I remember my dad ever cooking on. You could spray it down with Pam to preserve it even longer.

    I would suggest stainless steel screws instead of welding, this way you can always replace the bottom if need be. But great job

      Good idea! Next time I do it, I'll be doing the entire length of the barrel with a skin from another barrel, so it'll match better. I'm also thinking about adding a 30 gallon barrel vertically on the end to make it into a smoker.

    I'm not handy at all (welding) and was thinking about just laying some sort of thin metal at the bottom of mine from a big box shop.

      Same! I never put a grate for the charcoal/wood, and now it has a small hole and visible rust.

    The whole under the burners is rusted and coming apart. Can it be fixed??

    Add a handle on end to drag it when you move it around

    I weld just like you, have you any idea what the name of that weld is? This is called Gorilla Welding _____________________________ it's very ugly but its stronger than HELL
