Surprisingly lioness is actually a pretty entertaining show. I’ll admit though I fast forward through the main characters family drama scenes, super cringe
Yeah the family drama is not that good, but the thing I perhaps like the most about the show is that yeah they show like 1% badass female soldiers but even they will lose to a trained male at the same level. So not too unrealistic in that sense.
I don't think you can really call it an entertaining show if you skip half of it. I like Sheridan's shows but this is probably the last one I'll finish, just lost interest when the predictable lezzy stuff started. Currently watching Kingstown's latest season.

Season 2 so far is focussing more on the operators than the specific "lioness". I'm sure there is a lot of dissecting that can be done. Will really be a fun watch. Episode one would really be nice.
Yeah you can skip reviewing season 1. Just start with season 2. They go hard on that one! Really been enjoying it so far! If you're a fan of Zoe - she ate and left no crumbs! Great to have you back, Buck! Abel, spot on with the script writing technique!
It's been a while since I watched season 1 but I know there were a couple of scenes later on that I was specifically hoping to see your reaction to so I'm glad you're still doing breakdowns for this show!
Man wait until you guys see season 2, especially episode 1. Whoever the advisor is really gets it right in my opinion. Zoe Saldana really takes her character to another level. Also Zoe (Joe) and her team are CIA Special Activities Division. She runs the "Lioness" program and The Marine chick (Cruz) is her new Lioness. There's more of a Delta presence in Season 2 though.
Welcome back Buck! I was wondering where you were, glad to see you're doing well! I want to suggest a movie called Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War. Its about the Korean War and would love to see your thoughts on it. Its often said to be the Saving Private Ryan of Korea. Cheers and good luck with all the EMT, Paramedic and S&R stuff! Sounds exciting!
Great to see you back Buck. It’s good to know that Abel didn’t fire you. Totally agree with you guys about Lioness. I only stuck with it because of Zoe Saldana. You guys should skip ahead and watch series 2 episode 1. There’s lots of tactics going on there for you to get youth teeth in to. Again some of it great and some of it unrealistic. But it’s the most entertaining episode of the whole thing. And the bonus being that skinny girl isn’t in that episode. I’m going off to practice my pull ups now 💪🏻 peace!
I feel like y'all missed that ep 1 included a timeskip. She'd been a marine for 3y by the time she got picked by Zoe Saldana's character. Probably doesn't change your opinion but felt weird you were harping on how fast it went.
I had the same reaction to it at first. Turned it off after the first 10 minutes. However took a second look and it's pretty good for a TV show. The cold weather SERE school story was my Basic story in 1986. Grass drills to break the ice off the puddles. What fun.
Once they get past the first episode it gets more into the spy craft. Going the extra “she’s force recon” and all that while she looks like she couldn’t ruck a mile in kit without dying. Though the using her to get close to to the target works.
Realistically they have a limited pool of fit females who can also act. The kind of female who would pass Force Recon selection is not gonna be great for TV
I couldn't make it through the first five minutes of episode 1. I'm really skeptical this will ever be as good as Seal Team. I'm glad you guys are watching this so that I don't have to. 🤣🤣🤣
I would be very curious to find what you guys think about the house raid scenes (one where they raid terrorist cell and one where the operators are being "victims" of robbers). Also the highway shootout scene is pretty cool.
@FNGACADEMY I'd love to see a post or vid about what EMT school was like for you, especially with previous medical training you've had. Normally I'd be apprehensive about recommending someone go straight to P-school from EMT, but most people don't have your background, I'm sure you'll do great.
@FNGACADEMY paramedic school will break you! Lol it's academically hard but for most people the biggest issue is time management, depends on how the program is structured, and I think many are better now than when I went in 2006, that was 2k hours in 11 months while working full time in the Bronx, Best year of my life but man was I busy and tired
There is a whole, and it is a time-jump that is only referred to in setting and then exposition. I watched it back to see when and how it was indicated, only to find that it wasn't overt enough to fit the pace of the other storylines.
Since you gentleman asked - I'll give my opinion(civilian): I was watching an episode of season 2 today when my 5'0", 120lb (fit) Filipina wife (who is a doctorate in physical therapy) walked behind me while I was sitting on the couch watching the show...and... Seeing the new lioness and old lioness from season one lying on beds in tandem next to each other in the Latino-Papa-Bad-Guys house she said, "What is this, some girl power LABCDEFG Show?" Reality check for me. Granted - My wife is married to a 240lb 5'9 sportsmed(grad degree human performance) and strength and conditioning professional(monkey me - I'm an 'assisted' lifetime old school iron bro pounding for 35 years). Maybe her opinion based on the athletes we have worked with and what she has seen humans physically do skews her opinion a bit. I've always respected all military branches and have many friends and clients who have served throughout different branches and divisions. But I have no specific personal opinion to offer militarily because I have not served myself. HOWEVER - I've had many female clients - from moms to collegiate female athletes to some recreational martial artists that are normal ladies(sorry - no Trans stuff in this context or questionable XX-XY types). Most of my female clients - dare I say - have actually been quite feminine and attractive to boot. Yet - many come to mind who could no doubt toss either "lioness" around without question. Add to this the fact that TV camera really does add 10-15lbs on the perception of mass and the human frame, and it would take an average gym Jane, not a GI Jane to destroy either casted actress - hand2hand. Sorry Tailor Sheridan - I personally love your works and think you're the man - especially lately(so many good gritty show 'Series'). That being said - although I'm not clueless when it comes to basic firearms and or hand to hand skills, I'm no elite soldier of any sort. And maybe that's why the show is not only watchable for me, but enjoyable. I respect the work and budget it must take to create such a show and whatever technical advising takes place militarily, is beyond my scope of offering opinion. Lastly - thank you for all who have and continue to serve. 🙏🇺🇸
If this is season two, did you guys miss the border shootout scene in the first episode which show's creator Taylor Sheridan was in? So good. Also, The Way of the Gun still awaits.
I felt this season was unintentionally hilarious. She is this unhinged chick with anger issues who seems super emotionally unstable and has zero experience with undercover work, yet Zoe trusts her for their super secret and important mission to go undercover. Zoe literally blew up her first undercover operative with a drone but somehow she wants to torture our new chick to figure out her limits in case she gets captured..... why??? You blew up the first one with a drone?? To make it worse the injuries of the torture/interrogation nearly get her in trouble when she contacts her target and she has to make up some bs story of an abusive boyfriend to explain why she looks beat up and tortured. I also love how Zoe's wife... ehhhh husband had made a deal with their daughter that she can snuggle with her bf on the couch or whatever but she can't have sex. He must be the only medical professional who does not understand human nature.... And isntead of giving her some condoms they expect her to not be intimate with her bf which (SPOILER!!!) gets her pregnant.... Also unhinged chick first gets beat up in sparring at the start, then she gets beat up by her interrogators, she seems super out of control. Yet Zoe wants her to be their super important undercover operative. The second season looks better though.
I thought the same when I first watched it but it grows on you, and aside from the fact that its absurd that a woman thats 100lbs soaking wet is going to do anything but get demolished by a 200lb man (especially a trained one), the show actually does get entertaining. You just have to remember its fiction and to enjoy.
=That doesn't mean anything. They are paid to be there and give advise ,but the people who work with them are free to follow their advice or not. Keep in mind Top gun had Naval/Aviation advisors They still had a bunch of scenes that were far removed from the real world
I love this show. Season 2 is 10x better than the first. I don't think the target audience needs realism. This is what we all think 'operators' do. Ever watch a battle scene in space in Star Wars? Guess what, there is no sound in space. None. And the audience doesn't care.
I like the show but as a novice to SF I can only say it seemed a bit soft. I enjoy hearing your options which are obviously based on experiences about how realistic or fake a show is. Keep up the great work.
Any chance you guys would breakdown the mini series The Long Road Home? I find it really well made in terms of sets and props, but also heard some nasty controversy about it's authenticity vs the real event.
I watched season 1 the other day, I had SO many things that sucked but, it was slightly enjoyable. I think the premise of the show is a good idea since its written by Taylor Sheridan (Sicario and Yellowstone) but they made it targeted towards the female viewers to empower them. I will get around to season 2 when if finishes airing.
I would like to suggest a TV series called Homeland (2011-2020). It is about the War on "Terror" and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. It is often said to be the American version of the French TV series Le Bureau Des Légendes.
I have to say the humor I enjoy in your vids are similar to KentuckyBallistics and his insaneness, haha. I don't even think half the artillery he fires is legal in the US. He has this 40mm single shot 150 lb rifle that will piece an armored truck, haha. Reminds me of you guys, stay awesome 🍻
Seriously dude, she’s so unprofessional when just pops off and yelling at everyone and she always thinks she’s right so everyone is just supposed to roll and take it.
Dont know how you guys missed the "4 years ago" in the first ep but... So basically after you get over the cringey pre basic thing its actually been a few years jump to present day where apparently shes made it to marsoc so she's been trained prettt good. Now shes selected to be a part of this program and shes not expected to survive the endeavor. Honestly once u get over the girly issues you start to love the show and it gets better. BUT SEASON 2 THOOOOO. hurry up n get there.
I am lioness hear me roar. I have never watched this show and from the reviews from you guys, I never will. Maybe the guy with the daughter with the Jay Leno bruised face will be driving a new woke a Jaguar soon.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was bad editing, and the time in between the recruiter and getting head hunted for lioness was a lot longer. But maybe I just made up for the writers 'cause I have a clue as to how some of this stuff works.
Hello FNG Academy. First I wanna say to congratulations on the passing of your aqualification tests. And I hope you pass the other ones. Now answer my question. So I watched the video talking about different special forces operations. On the channel called task and purpose. And there was a particular group tidal a type of special forces group. And I wanted to know if it was a member of the green beret's or Delta force or the marine force recon. So do you know where third group resides in the special forces? If you were allowed to tell that. If so thank you if not I'll put you understand. Is love to channel love to work keep it up.
Buck I gotta ask, you ever been in a situation where shtf while out? I recall ur reaction to Land of Bad and how their fireteam got obliterated but the new guy who is also their JTAC ends up literally wandering around the Philippine jungle just to wind back up on the objective. Just wondering if these scenarios are plausible or completely bullshit. Recently watched the Shawn Ryan Show with Shrek and Shrek’s stories as a Solo unit seems even MORE implausible than Hollywood, but apparently Shrek’s stories are all undisputedly legitimate.
23:10 she also knew Arabic, looked Middle Eastern and already had 2 tours of duty. Trailer for season 2 SAS Rogue Heroes is out! ruclips.net/user/shorts41UJqcPzo48
I'm curious how IRL green berets would react to taking orders from a 115lb woman like Joe. I'm not in that field but I would have a problem taking orders from a 115lb man. My leader, imo, needs to be either my equal or my better.
I’m pretty sure she was at basic then went to join marine recon and when the cia person was looking for a candidate for their mission who was female she got recommended by recon
Genesis Rodriguez looks more of a Marine than Laysla De Oliveira. Zoe Saldana is a good actress but seeing her tiny frame in tactical gear is comical at times 😅. I get that she’s more of the brain than brawns but they wrote her playing a kind of hybrid role between CIA officer & SAD. Claire Danes’s character in Homeland was more believable.
Love your guys’ content. Please consider reacting to The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare movie. It is awesome, probably not very tactically accurate, but still cool and would love to hear you guys point out the tactical truths and blunders.
I will say, the chick in season 2 is far more believable than the season 1 girl. The show lost me in season 1 when they were like, “yeah she can anything a man can and better even though she’s 105 lbs soaking wet. Plus she’s also a Force Recon Marine with multiple EKIAs and can kick any dudes ass.” In season 2, the girl is a helicopter pilot and her background is so much better rather than some supergirl who’s better than all the guys though she acts almost as unprofessional (as an Army officer) as Zoe’s character.
Season two is absolutely phenomenal so far season one was so-so but season two absolutely fantastic
season 2 is amazing
Only thing that’s kinda annoyed me so far is when they said a character is an Apache pilot and then you see them flying an MH-60 DAP.

I actively ignore my husband duties watching this sir.
The only thing I wonder about with the dialogue is why does the main character yell at everyone all of the time. She seems perpetually pissed off.
drives me nuts
@@c.r.chandler5905 I think in season 2 its more varied
Seriously dude, she’s so unprofessional when just pops off and yelling at everyone and she always thinks she’s right so everyone is just supposed to roll and take it.
shes a feminist
Dont know how you guys missed the "4 years ago" in the first ep but...
So basically after you get over the cringey pre basic thing its actually been a few years jump to present day where apparently shes made it to marsoc so she's been trained prettt good.
Now shes selected to be a part of this program and shes not expected to survive the endeavor.
Honestly once u get over the girly issues you start to love the show and it gets better.
BUT SEASON 2 THOOOOO. hurry up n get there.
Season 1 has interesting parts which is what kept me watching. Season 2 (so far) is pretty solid. I skip through the family drama. I just don't care.
that's how i watch SEAL Team lmao
I am lioness hear me roar. I have never watched this show and from the reviews from you guys, I never will. Maybe the guy with the daughter with the Jay Leno bruised face will be driving a new woke a Jaguar soon.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was bad editing, and the time in between the recruiter and getting head hunted for lioness was a lot longer. But maybe I just made up for the writers 'cause I have a clue as to how some of this stuff works.
Fast foward to the season 2 episode 1 there is no spoilers its just better
Hello FNG Academy. First I wanna say to congratulations on the passing of your aqualification tests. And I hope you pass the other ones.
Now answer my question. So I watched the video talking about different special forces operations. On the channel called task and purpose. And there was a particular group tidal a type of special forces group. And I wanted to know if it was a member of the green beret's or Delta force or the marine force recon. So do you know where third group resides in the special forces? If you were allowed to tell that. If so thank you if not I'll put you understand. Is love to channel love to work keep it up.
ECHO 3!! It’s a must
Buck I gotta ask, you ever been in a situation where shtf while out? I recall ur reaction to Land of Bad and how their fireteam got obliterated but the new guy who is also their JTAC ends up literally wandering around the Philippine jungle just to wind back up on the objective. Just wondering if these scenarios are plausible or completely bullshit. Recently watched the Shawn Ryan Show with Shrek and Shrek’s stories as a Solo unit seems even MORE implausible than Hollywood, but apparently Shrek’s stories are all undisputedly legitimate.
are yall gonna watch the last ship ?
we can
23:10 she also knew Arabic, looked Middle Eastern and already had 2 tours of duty.
Trailer for season 2 SAS Rogue Heroes is out!

valid point
You guy need to rush up on season 1 becuase season 2 of Lioness is Awesome!!! a lot of Spec Ops topics you need to talk about!!!
Has anyone seen takluk? Just saw a clip but it looked pretty interesting.
The biggest mistake they made in the show was the name, everything else overtime is pretty fucking great.
You guys need to finish Band of Brothers. Just a few episodes left...
I really enjoyed Lioness tbh, I thought the story was excellent and the action!
congratulations on paramedic school - let me know if you need help - 20 years under my belt before I left
Fun show but absolutely cringe dialogue at times
lol everyone’s ripping Cruz but I like her character a lot
I turn my brain off when I watch the show so I can enjoy it.
Agreed, but I thought the show got good enough to stick with after the first few episodes and ended great (last couple of episodes).
I am looking forward to more
Genesis Rodriguez looks more of a Marine than Laysla De Oliveira.
Pretty sure it was five years from her basic training if I am remembering right
I hope that is true and I just missed it
@FNGACADEMY has been a while since I watched the start of the show but she was Force Recon and then Delta Force
@@stuartgebbie5639 she was a fresh in marsoc when they pulled her for the program in season 1
@@KillMonger592 could have sworn it was Delta she was trying out for Delta when she is recruited for the program
It gets a bit better, but this will never be as good as Seal Team.
