*First, "Lioness" is a fictionalized story. Not such a unit exists. Also, up to this date, no US special operations units have engaged in a firefight against the Mexican military and/or police. Interestingly enough, in the first season, the CIA "Lioness" guys beat the crap out of CAG (Delta) operators in a bar fight... Yeah, "very credible." Second, while it is true that there are women in special operations, the character played by Zoe Saldaña is unrealistic. The government intervens with most Unit inspired projects. The maker of Black Hawk Down expressed this. The film had to be changed in order for it to be released. He also mentioned he wanted a movie centering on The Units role in the Atlanta Prison riot. Govt shut down the project because operators aren't suppose to operate on American soil.
Women aren’t generally put in a position to be in a gun fight situation. Could and does happen. But it’s silly to think they’d be put in that position on purpose.
Love the show, the casting was excellent. Kyle, Tracer, Tex, 2 cups look like actual sf. That shoot out scene was great because Cody (Taylor Sheridan) “get on them” comment sounds accurate and targets they hit.
One of the things that stood out to me…she’s supposed to be Apache pilot but rows up in a Blackhawk outfitted with a crazy attack setup in her first scene
I second this. Lioness, Tulsa King, Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown... All super entertaining with great actors, regardless of if they're accurate 100% or not. Taylor Sheridan is all over the place these days, and well deserved. I love that he also does some bit parts in some of the shows. I'm probably wrong, but I think he did great portraying his characters.
So basically Sheridan is responsible for every single good show out right now. I watched a Green Beret show on YT and they capped all over Lioness when it first came out. So I didn't watch. They spoke about it again and now doing Seal Team comparisons, so I watched and wow. It's amazing. So great to have this show now that Seal Team is over.
Hold your hand out in front of you and pretend to be holding a pistol. Swing your arm to the outside as far as you can and see how far behind you it can go. Now turn your hand upside down and see how much extra movement you can get in that arc. That would be the reason behind the technique described but whether you would actually employ it is a whole different question. Clearing a room solo maybe? If you're not worried about hitting something that you don't want dead then it could be used. You can swing your arm faster than your whole body so it might be the difference between getting a shot off before they do.
I was in the 160th SOAR and think it was a very accurate depiction of all involved. It’s unrealistic to expect 100% perfection from “Hollywood “. Some of the helo scenes were cheesy and could use some touching up but overall it’s an awesome show and the characters were very good at what they were trying to portray. IMO 🇺🇸💪🏼
Great show but outdated. Remember “delta is a unit that doesn’t exist.” Well cats out of the bag, the unit do exist. I don’t think they cover under something like the 303rd logistical studies group anymore. The unit was great show for its time. I like it more than seal team. Here is a fun fact, an executive producer for the unit is named Shawn Ryan and he also is for seal team as well. He is probably their military advisor too. And no it’s not the same SR from SRS. Another reason why the unit is better than Devgru. They had cool ass call signs! Cool breeze, snake doc, dirt diver, Betty blue, hammer head and whiplash.
@@FMD023 I've heard for a long time that Delta "officially doesn't exist" and I think that's pure nonsense, both now and 20 years ago. I think when people heard the government's policy of "we do not comment on special operations", they took that as denial of their existence, when really it's just a refusal to confirm or deny any question about them.
The portion of that show when they are in the shoot house he is trying to teach her about reactive shooting and bio mechanics. There are many times in CQB where there is a barrier or reason of limitation where you are not able to fully present and engage your threat (more of a react to threat and move, dynamic versus static threat). This is more of a lesson and confidence builder. Not necessarily teaching of an SOP on how to engage and clear targets.
Paramount+ with the MC of a *DELTA FORCE* being a woman... No, this show is not accurate... There are women in SOF, they are mot the majority and likely would not be selected for this type of work...
Lioness and Seal 🎉Team are my 2 favorite shows. Lioness for sure! Is my favorite TV Show! Taylor Sheridan is by far one of my favorite writers/producers. This show is AWESOME! Beware of the "Old Soldier they are old for a reason" Outstanding Bad Ass Show!!
YOU NEED TO CLARIFY THIS. special operations community includes support personnel. Yes, there have been a couple female green berets but only a very very small handful. Probably less than 10 have qualified and even fewer actuallybwere on a team. There are NO KNOWN female delta force operators. Though there have been females ATTACHED to delta. Just because someone is "special operations" doesn't mean they are an operator. Please need to be careful with your wording because you're implying misleading or wrong info
When Cruz re-hooked up with the team, a male operator asked what she had been up to, and he asked “Orange?”, to which she replied “No, Green” (implying CAG). Thought it would have been more believable that she was tasked to Orange. Especially since she was trained by Ground Branch.
@338684q Two different units. Task Force Orange or ISA or whatever they call themselves now are an independent intelligence gathering unit in JSOC. Ultimately they support Delta, DEVGRU and 75th Regimental Recon and have their own independent missions.
These characters are not portraying current Delta, CAG or SF they are part of a CIA team S.A.D. They were previously obviously, at one time part of one of those groups but not at this time in the show. They are doing Black Ops and Wetwork. That's why they all need to be discharged before joining S.A.D.
One thing visually about those episodes tho was the actors appeared to be visually looking through the riser as opposed to the actual optic haha but man I love this show it's my new favorite since seal team ended
One thing that really bothered me about season 2, is how the pilot is supposed to be an Apache pilot. Yet when we get introduced to her, she’s flying a Blackhawk.
First and foremost, The show is a TV show. Its a fictional work of art which consists of drama and action for entertainment. Creative liberties are always taken to maintain attention. Shout out to the real female service members that performed their difficult duties with honor. Thank you for your service. This is the wiki info from the first lines on the page of Team Lioness: "female United States Marines attached to combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan. They were utilized to respect local customs regarding the prohibition of men touching or searching local women during operations." From the research I have done and not in any way discredit their service. Their role was exactly that. To give an intelligence dynamic for gathering that males would have difficulties obtaining. They had a special purpose just like other special operation units like the USAF Special reconnaissance, which is to not to kick in doors to eliminate the enemy even though they have that capacity. As for "Lionesses" to be trained on multiple weapon systems to the capability of offensive direct action is a stretch imo because of the purpose of the Lioness mission. Sure being trained and knowledgeable on multiple weapon systems is understandable for self defense and the in-field encounters. To my understanding, for a Lioness having to resort to a special weapon system means a security failure or intelligence failure occurred because that's what delta is for or a SMU. Lionesses are a piece on the same chess board that delta, SMU, GRS are on for their purpose to be utilized effectively.
You are 100% correct on your assessment of the show except on the part about the Kill House Scene where the Delta Shooter is teaching the New Lioness how to CQB and he explained that where will be times where if you have a Target behind you the shoot has to be taken quickly and the best way to do so is to engage straight back and that will get the weapon upside down. Delta, DevGru and Recon Marines are taught to shoot from any position and from any angle and that sometimes is with the weapon upside down. Now the Kill House Scene also takes a second to talk about using Optics on Pistols which make handgun shooting a little easier once you get used to the Optic on the Pistol.
Fun fact, “tracer” is the same actor that plays a unit operator on a great show back then called the unit. Call sign dirt diver. Taylor is known to show is love for unit guys. Go watch Sacario and if u paid attention. There is a line that Joe said that was a call back to that movie. Taylor wrote sacario for those that didn’t know
Highly recommend the French TV Series "Dark Hearts". Super impressive. Recommended to a friend who served and he says it's the most accurate SF show he's seen. Good story and believe-able.
The last 2 episodes was pretty bad when it come to shoot house tactics and the over emotional screaming and tryna push the “alpha female” or over emotional screaming. That was off.
I love the show. My biggest issue is the fire rate of some of the weapons used. Taylor’s MCX-SPEAR LT fire rate is WAY too fast. It’s buzzing at like 1200 rpm.
It is, the guys on Joe's team are not active duty Delta. They are all retired/discharged. In the show they mention they are part of CIA Ground Branch so based off that their job title is "CIA Paramilitary operator". They also mention Joe is a Senior Case Agent who answers directly to the CIA Director of SOG so she has quite a bit of pull.
It is a TV Show, everyone calm down, it is fictional... Just watch and enjoy it, and yes there are cringe moments but very few, but once again it is a TV Show...
One of the reasons special forces are so successful at what they do is the high degree of coordination among the team. In other words each member of the team has specific predesignated targets agreed upon before the first shot is fired. This way they can take out all the enemy combatants with as few shots fired as possible which also aids in how fast they can execute the operation. This also has the added benefit of minimizing reaction times for the combatants. In most cases it is over before any enemy combatant has had time to process what is going on. This has to do with how people process a rapid explosion of activity when they were accustomed to the calm and quite just moments prior to this. This is why the flash bang grenades were developed in the first place, they overwhelm the senses with light and sound and create a state of confusion for several seconds which is all a highly trained team needs to disable them.
If you put your hand upside down while going around a corner. Its the way your wrist sets. Because you are running by so your knuckle is where the round goes. As it was explained clearly in the show. If you run across with your wrist erected. You will notice that your flow of motion as you run across. With your hand straight is not fluid. Therefore having your gun upside down but your knuckle faced where you need to out the round. Is more fluid. As when you bring your hand back to the resdy position as you are currently running. It sets in the correct position more fluid and quicker. Run across your hall way into the bathroom. Try it both ways you will see how that feels. Hope i explained it correctly. Also, plenty of google searches will show you this technique. So its on the internet you know it must be true. Hooyah!!! SWCC Boat Team 22 im Audi5000G your welcome
Question: in two man room clearing, is it normal for while man one is cornering into the room, man two is sprinting straight into the room uncontrollably towards a wall while shooting behind them? Seems like a terrible way to enter a room.
@weaponeer8582 into a room? I never said into a room. I said running by, if you don't know what I mean. By running by an opening to cover on the other side. Then either I can't explain correctly, or you not understanding what I'm saying. Either way brother I'm Audi5000G God Bless
@ thanks for answering but I’m talking about in episode 3 of season 2 where Bobby was teaching Josephine how to assist in clearing the room as the 2nd man. She rushed through the door in the middle of the room, runs straight into the far wall while firing back and to the right. It just seemed like a bad technique.
First and foremost, this collection of shooters are not "Delta Force Operators". These individuals are part of Ground Branch (now division), of the CIA's Special Activities Center. They engage in combat actions under USC Title 50 (Intelligence & Covert Action) versus USC Title 10 (Military Forces). SAC pulls most of their personnel from Tier 1 level units found in Joint Special Activities Command. However once a part of SAC, their classic military role has ended. In the TV program, their appearance is problematic. The last thing they want is to look like would be a bunch of bikers shooting up a locale. They are clandestine operators who make every effort to avoid detection even when entering into a firefight. Can they shoot that well? Most can make amazing shots, but even the worst gunman or police officer can land a lucky shot or two and make a successful operation that much more difficult. The "Third Option" is quiet but lethal.
That’s not who he was talking about. The character Taylor Sheridan plays, the character Max Martini plays, and the operator who dies in the Rio Grande scene are Delta. You need to actually watch the show then watch this video again and pay attention to what he says. He clearly states the few guys that augment the CIA team are the Delta operators.
Here’s a useless fact - Max Martini, who plays Tracer in season 2, Played Mack in the hit TV show that was also on CBS called The Unit….which followed a Delta Force Unit. Talk about a round about way for Max to reprise his role as a D Boy

I would say after the authenticity of Seal Team, as described by Tyler Grey, people are now used to seeing the real deal and can spot substandard weapons handling etc and it takes them out of the show or they lose interest. Certainly ex-military would notice.
There are no women special forces, theyre women who are attached to a special forces unit for support. There are women who arent designated delta but are assigned to a delta force squad for again specific mission and support. And they do not look like the toothpick Columbiana chick.

Actually that was an initial misconception. It was the FBIs HRT (Hostage Rescue Team), who are a Tier-1 domestic special operations unit that is based on Delta and a near perfect mirror image of the unit.
recoil management is also more challenging inverted. Unless you are supine, or otherwise inverted, I don't know why you'd fire the weapon that way either.
I used to work with a ex british sas.He said women trained with them. They were sent from other agencies that mainly do intelligence work to learn from them..After training they went back to their units.Dont know if delta did the same.
The only thing that stood out to me from the series, is how they act towards each other, like it’s all pretty aggressive even within the team. I find it hard to believe that that is true, maybe some have beef but they seem to be looking for beef! Also how the main character absolutely smacks the shit out of another dude, I wonder if that is something that happens a lot or even at all! Since you need to trust your team so why would you beef with your squad!
Hey love your channel! Question; could you do one on the men and women in the armory that put together all the specialized weapons that our special operators use, including any special requests that an operator may have for a specific operation?
I have zero interest in this show. I’m tired of the media making movies/shows about women in special forces. Unique covert situations sure. Running full kit like they are part of a direct action unit. No! Also can you cast a women built like a tall ifbb bikini pro and say they use to fight in the ufc if we are going to act like they can actually stand a chance with a man in a fight.

David... Please take down "Red Dawn" remake DVD holder and put up the original 1984 version. That was a HORRIBLE remake and it should have never been made, approved and released!
Who cares. It's TV. If I'm in the military, I wouldn't allow realistic tactics, equipment, and operational procedures on a show cidicated for public consumption. That's stupid.
It's a fun show, however I take issue with how Jo, the main character, treats other people, especially regular old military types. All of her screaming and chest thumping is nonsense. As a Marine, and an ops chief in various FOB's throughout Iraq, I dealt with many spec ops types that would role through, stay for awhile and move on. Some I understood who they were with, and occasionally I would not. Didn't matter, we would support them as required. What they did not do was disrespect the battle space owners once they showed up. They were always respectful and a pleasure to work with in most cases. It doesn't matter who you are, you just don't show up, demand things, and disrespect the CO in front of his men; it won't go well, that's just Hollywood nonsense.
Pistol CQB is primed and unprimed. Primed something isn't right your weapon is in the ready. Unprimed your in standing mode and you have to draw and react. Many shooters have strong side and weak side but in true CQB fashion you have right side and a left and your weapon skills are equal which you must build and maintain. The the other guy have strong and weak it increases your % of survival. The upside down shooting refers to firing one handed around hard cover. Some people are really good at OFF skills or unique shooting techniques but those skills aren't made up. Through trial and error do they develop and operators us long gun only a handful us sidearms.

And yet there are numerous times they have.
Elbows deep @@Ripper13F1V
Cool. You got any references to this? I like to dig in more?
The Atlanta riots very true but as far as them operating on US soil that's CIA allegedly who can't but even that's not true at all
@@ssgtomen621 Don't quote me but maybe "Relentless Strike" by Sean Naylor mentions some of this stuff. I really can't remember where I got the info.
One of the best shows out for sure. That shootout scene reminded me of Sicario 2 at the border
That’s probably because Sicario is also a product of Taylor Sheridan.
The show is actually pretty good, Sheridan has a gift for making his projects entertaining regardless of how technically accurate they may be.
This is so accurate lol. No matter how many times I roll my eyes at things in his shows I keep coming back lol.
So is the show worth a watch gump ?
@@JoeyB44for sure
I just tried it but got the exact same turning distance with my hand turned either way.
IMO 🇺🇸💪🏼
The main difference between the Unit and SAD is that the Unit can't do Title 50 missions typically.
There is not one woman who has made it through any Delta Force or Seal Team operator schools.
The Unit is supposed to have the most accurate portrayal on TV and film. Based on Eric Haney's book.
Inside The Delta Force. Eric Haney. He was a Ranger then went into SFOD1. There is a good non fiction book about Task Force Orange, ISA.
The Unit is still my favorite tv show after all these years.
EP and Co-Creator of “The Unit” Shawn Ryan is also the EP and Co-Creator of the revival “S.W.A.T” series. He was not involved with “SEAL Team”.
Especially since she was trained by Ground Branch.
didnt orange have delta as well
@@338684qI believe orange has everybody, they are highly specialized with distinct skill sets and I’m sure they draw from wherever the talent is.
@@338684q orange is another tier 1 smu. Green is delta and blue is ST6.
She's obviously joined the unit as a sniper. Female snipers in support roles aren't unheard of
@338684q Two different units.
If you really watch the show, they clearly say their CIA Special Activities Division.
The action in Lioness S2 is much better that Seal team. They need to remake the Unit with Sheridan in the lead role.
Lioness. What a great show. 🇺🇲 💪💪
It’s a great show. The women are not delta they are cia. The one woman who is spec op is a sniper
Fun fact, “tracer” is the same actor that plays a unit operator on a great show back then called the unit. Call sign dirt diver. Taylor is known to show is love for unit guys. Go watch Sacario and if u paid attention. There is a line that Joe said that was a call back to that movie. Taylor wrote sacario for those that didn’t know
I love Lioness...Great show!!
The well produced Lioness show is social engineering to program us that females are equally fearsome & skilled warriors just like men.
Highly recommend the French TV Series "Dark Hearts". Super impressive. Recommended to a friend who served and he says it's the most accurate SF show he's seen. Good story and believe-able.

Taylor Sheridan is putting out some really good TV Shows!
And some really bad ones. He has the fatal tendency to pander to the audience which frequently turns his shows into cringe.
Your, honest, critique makes me want to give a second chance.
The last 2 episodes was pretty bad when it come to shoot house tactics and the over emotional screaming and tryna push the “alpha female” or over emotional screaming. That was off.
With all due respect, only delta operators can comment on delta’s CQB tactics
I love the show. My biggest issue is the fire rate of some of the weapons used. Taylor’s MCX-SPEAR LT fire rate is WAY too fast. It’s buzzing at like 1200 rpm.
I thought Lioness is about a CIA-SAD/SOG Taskforce

I'm loving how Latino's are being represented and our love to our country!!!
Either way brother I'm Audi5000G

Love this show. It's the only reason I subsribed to Paramount+ and will end my subscription when I'm done with the season. Lol

Don't believe everything you see and hear on the telli and internet. Some things are meant to be questioned.

I wish they would’ve put a different female actress. I can’t stand that chick. I’d rather see Rosario Dawson

There are bad ass door kicker women in special forces that can take out any men in the world BUT only in Hollywood !!

Question RE: Lioness. I recently viewed the series and remember someone on your podcast say that the Delta aspects seemed accurate. I am curious about the cyclic rate of the rifles they carry. It seems very fast, like Mac11 fast. Is this realistic or just Hollywood? Seems like it would empty magazines FAST. Thank you.
Seems it was predictive programming, based on recent developments. Also funny that it seems every show of this type in the last couple years has been a female lead.
Bob Baer talks about his wife as a CIA operative taking a six month shooting class. They were both in the CIA. You can find videos of him speaking on RUclips & on two of the three alternative commentary tracks of the RED bluray.
Season 1, very girl power centric. If you can overlook it, it's a great show. Season 2, you don't see any of that lesbo BS and it's awesome!

LOVE the Lioness series! There are probably some badass women like Jo, but they are the minority. Not anti-female, just a fact women are different. I know because I am one LOL.
David... Please take down "Red Dawn" remake DVD holder and put up the original 1984 version. That was a HORRIBLE remake and it should have never been made, approved and released!
I saw an ad of the woman they had acting in it, her character seemed a bit uh immature and petulant. Just very off putting.
Who cares.
I just finished season 2 and this was a realy entertaining series. I loved it accurate or not
Pistol CQB is primed and unprimed.
Women are not SHOOTERS, they're intel, support personnel.
