the trucker hat is intentional and he wears one in almost every movie he does. Sniper: The White Raven is an awesome movie, can't wait for that one. if i remember correctly the actual person that the movies based on helped along with using a lot of active duty Ukrainian military to make the movie.
Reportedly, around 100 Guardsmen from the Northern Operational Territorial Unit of the NGU (National Guard of Ukraine), as well as service personnel from the Rapid Response Brigade of the NGU participated in filming, along with a couple of dozen military vehicles. The story was based, in part, on the real life experiences of Mykola Voronin. A school teacher who eventually enlisted in the military (Ukraine) when russia invaded in 2104. I haven't found any solid information on whether or not Varonin (Raven, his callsign = Voron, based on script writer's name) experienced any of the actual tragedies portrayed in the film. However, it has been and still is being documented all the war crimes ruskees have committed/are committing throughout Ukraine. The Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine have suffered the longest under russia's invasion since 2014. Horlivka, where they film begins, sits on the Western edge if Donetsk Oblast. One of the first regions to be occupied, pillaged, raped and murdered by ruskees. So, in my opinion, the events in the film are watered down compared to the actual atrocities documented.
