- On June 7, 2022, during a House Rules Committee meeting on H.R. 7910 and H.R. 2377, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler asked Chairman Nadler what 'AR' in AR-15 stands for. His answer proves Democrats don't even know basic facts about the firearms they want to take away from law-abiding citizens.
As a gun owner and staunch defender of the Constitution, I will always stand up for law-abiding citizens’ Second Amendment rights and fight the left’s attempts to prevent Americans from protecting themselves and their families.
The AR in AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle, developed by Eugene Stoner when he was chief engineer of the Armalite Corporation. After developing the rifle. Armalite sold the AR-15 design to Colt in 1962. The mainstream news media, either through carelessness or intentional distortion, often gets the meaning of "AR" wrong. An assault rifle must be capable of selective full-auto fire. The U.S. military's M4 and M16 are assault rifles, but the semi-auto only civilian AR-15 is NOT

@@salvatorespina5429 I’m a responsible gun owner. If you want home protection, a shotgun is your best defense. If you want to hunt large game, a bolt action rifle is best. I’m an old man. In my days the NRA taught responsible gun principles and ran a certification process which you had to have if you wanted to carry a gun for hunting and were under 16. This gun fetish… must and will end.
The AR in AR-15 CAN'T stand for "assault rifle" for the simple reason that EVERY Armalite design was called AR-something(Armalite Rifle). The AR-5 was a takedown bolt action .22cal survival rifle for the US Air Force and the AR-17 was a 2 shot semi-auto 12 guage shotgun intended for skeet shooting.

It's not surprising that Natler didn't know that the AR stands for Armalite. The thing is, these same idiots can't even tell you what a woman is. The idiots dont realize an assault weapon can be sime ones fist, fingers knees foot elbow head. Other items could be a hammer, scissors, knife, rock, car, newspaper, ink pen or pencil, the list goes on and on.

Armalite’s parent company was Fairchild aviation, which also was very involved in many military projects and support manufacture, most notably the A10 Warthog. Armalite was started by a Lockheed Corporation patent lawyer named George Sullivan funded by Fairchild Aviation . Eugene Stoner was the designer of the Rifle. All this is researchable but I recommend you read A book named “ Misfire “ by William H. Hallahan a history of Americas Military failures with regard to innovations.
Most copies cost almost $200 or more.

It is ignorance to think that just because a firearm has select fire, that it makes it a “assault weapon”. Select fire weapons are bearable arms also protected by the 2nd. Keep in mind we could buy them at a local hardware store years ago. Its only because government infringed that most people cant afford them today.

Many conservatives and a suprising number of gun enthusiasts don't know either. I'm more interested in ensuring our second amendment rights are maintained and folks are educated against common arguments and misperceptions by those wishing to strip us of those rights.

Nowhere in the second amendment is a “weapon of war” disqualified for civilian use. The idea is to have the same or similar fighting capabilities as the government. Which lately, looks like we may need

Let’s have a common sense lesson . Assault is a word(noun, verb) describing an action, any weapon used to assault someone, a bat, a pipe, a handgun, knife, rock, brick. These are simple material items, but when used to assault someone it becomes a weapon of assault. An assault weapon period, So stop the BS if a rifle, regardless of semi automatic or single shot is used against someone it becomes an assault weapon.

99% of the people who try to create firearm restrictions know virtually nothing about firearms and were never trained in any way about these tools. The AR-15 type rifle is the most popular rifle in the country with somewhere between 20 and 30 million of them in private hands of legal gun owners. It's mainly used for target shooting at rifle ranges, some hunting but usually not for larger game because of it's relatively low power compared to traditional hunting rifles chambered in .308 or 30 30 cartridges. For some reason Democrats seem unable to grasp the difference between a semi automatic and an automatic rifle. An "assault rifle" has the ability to fire in automatic mode like a submachine gun. These guns are illegal for civilian use. An AR-15 looks very similar to the M-16 used by the military, but it is not the same, and doesn't function like the military gun.
