i disagree regarding the fact, that the new autophase race, quests and missions will only appear after you completed at least the Artemis quest line and Trace Of Metal (as far as i know). This game is all about curiosity, discovery and finding out what to do and find your way in the universe. You don't jump in a new game and want to have everything ready yet. You want to be surprised and discover by yourself. The best hours i had in this game were the first ten to twenty without having a clue what to do and also missing out tons of stuff, which i found out later.
Players were asking for some sort of "endgame content" all the time and now they actually get in a way. The game already confuses players with too much missions going on at the same time like Artemis, Atlas and tons of side quests plus the whole base building tutorials. So having a completely new race popup very late in the game as a surprise is exactly the way it should be. Also the autophase quests and missions do need some experience and also blueprints you will only get after tens of hours of gameplay. So in my opinion HG did everything right with this update and put new life into No Man's Sky and it seems that they will continue to do so in the future.
Imagine in a future update we got crashed derelict Space stations
on abandoned systems! that would be dope! a huuuuge crater and a crashed space station on the nearest planet... Insane!
The update is 💩 it's a relaxing game but this update is doing nothing but get me frustrated and angry I've done all the requirements to start the new update and I can't get the new mission to start.
I think the opposite, the game was getting confusing for new player because there were so many things to do, now they have to complete part of the beginning lore before they can embark in the continuing story. Hopefully this will mark the before and after mark for players
😂😂😂😂 sucks to be you!!
I tried it when the VR2 released, couldn't really stand the graphics, definitely gonna try it again, the graphics should be way better now.
@@High.on.Life_DnBnight and day man
@@dylanhumphrey2479 yep, it adds so much to the immersion! I played in VR yesterday until the TV turned off for inactivity, I haven't had a gaming session where I completely forgot about time in a while lol.
Did notice a few moments where the framerate dropped significantly, hopefully they can smooth those out in time
I agree, it was much harder at the start of the game. Now I'm enjoying the game like crazy: 2000h! it's just such a cool game.
You can't please everyone I guess. People have been asking for endgame content, so now we have endgame content and the criticism is "Hey why can't I do this at the start of the game? Why do I have to beat a lot of things before this is unlocked??"
I started a new save after the update and now it feels so damn eerie knowing autophage are around every single drop pod, crashed freighter, beacon and ruin.. I can only imagine what people would feel like once they discover this compared to most of the community that has already done everything and were deliberately trying to trigger what is meant to be a surprise plot-twist of sorts.
The main atlas/Artemis story feels like season 1, or the first act where the setting of NMS is being established, and now the autophage are like a season 2 where things really start to kick off... albeit just the first episode since it just ends abruptly.
Also two new features I haven't seen ANYONE mention: The game now has new soundtracks and NPCs have height and body type variations.
I have several hundred hours invested in the game and Hello Games has done an AMAZING job with all of these updates and release bug fixes faster than I've seen any other company (including over weekends).
The problem is this. Because they have to focus on new sales, they are always pushing the "splashy" things with new graphics and things to do and I love it... but then I hit that wall where there's nothing left to do. I mean, I have just about every mineral and gas setup as a farm and have billions in credits and just looking for reasons to continue playing.
I realize it's more complicated, but creating more "deeper" functions would really add huge gameplay and having "unlimited" things could make it something where there is always something to do. There's a long list of things I'd personally pay money for:
- Freighter missions overall: More than just 5 missions per 24 hours (and more than just 1-3 stars), more variance or reason to do them
- Ability to own more than 1 (ideally unlimited) Freighters and associated Starships.
- Procedurally generated ships with varying cockpits and wider ranges of looks
- Reasons to why you might want to use a Hauler vs a Fighter
- Ability to find Space Battles and bring your Freighter into it. Ability to upgrade turrets and really have it be as damaging as Pirate ones are
- Make it so your assisting Squadron... has a point? They are right now, at best, an enemy distraction. Give you ability to equip them with ships/upgrade.
- Allow you to have multiple Villages. Allow build screen (using official means, not just workarounds) so you can make your Villages look nice and be organized with Signs and such.
And so on and so on. It's sometimes baffling how they can make this amazing procedurally generated universe with all of the variants and plants and can't make ships look unique or have the ability for you to do unpredictable things.
i agree with mostly everything. may not unlimited freighters, that would totally create chaos... not just for them as devs, but for us as players in the UI and the game itself. everything else? right on.
@@LoganWolf Only 2 freighters are enough. The rest i agree.
echoes' "they who returned" mission is end-game content, so new players or players with newer saves or less progressed saves will have to adapt. that's just the way it is and what "end-game content" means. it doesn't say anywhere that it is, but the prerequisites should be enough of a hint to that... everything else is there for the taking whenever you want. love your content though :p keep it up!
Tbh not to be a hello game purist here but I think that having new content behind older stuff is better.
Instead of adding *within* the "loop" - it extends it - expands it and makes new players prioritize the old *awesome* content first.
I imagine it would be confusing as heck having a shi t ton of random quests fed to you at the start...
Yes. Is more excellent content every update, but without deep in old contents, i always hit boredom wall.
VR is well worth playing now, they've fixed things that weren't even broken even bringing up a menu doesn't feel immersion breaking any more
💯🤔🤔 I’m about to buy the game on PS5. It’s half off. Started completely fresh. Can I play the Echoes campaign first or do I have to do many other things first? And how do I get a good ship early? I love space battles in other games, I want to fight in the sky’s in NMS.
Love the update
Hate the random game crash everytime I play. 20 minutes in or 3 hours, crash. Since the update it been getting progressively worse. Thank God Starfield is right around the corner.
i got a feeling the answers space station cores and stuff will come with part 4 of the whole story arc going on, especially given that it seems the autophage have some connection to them given the hollowed out cores found at camps
i disagree with this video ... First , the community figured it out in minutes , second the content being behind more content is better since it ties in the narrative.
Want to meet the new race ? DO the story first ... Like i don't get why people want "this content" but ignore the story that came before it. There is like a reason why those quests can't be dropped in the quest log. AND all those prerequisites quests Ties into the korvax mind-hive narrative in some way..
But you're not a new player. Some uninformed player is going to jump in and wonder why none of these things weren't achievable, and there's nothing clear in the game stating the prerequisites. Don't leave out that Insaid that
Yeah..... but also nms doesn't really have a proper endgame to it, and that's what Echoes fixed.
@@LegacyZero might be true , but new players need to do the tutorial and get accustomed to the game. This is a clear way for the new players to get each skill they need first.
Sure , this is different than before , but if as we think we are witnessing a story thread and the new content is lore heavy and teasing a lot of things it’s better that it is targetted to experienced players rather than newcommers. We are like 7 years in... it’s time for some more involved content..
Loving the update so far. Great video.
I agree that it was bot apparent what triggered the new content....however the pre req quest lines NEVER leave you your log. Not unreasonable for HG to expect you to progress linearly. Frankly I am kinda tired of creators with a million hours saying I never do that quest I am tired of it. Every MMRPG has quest line progression and this is WAY lest grind the than faction rep in many .
Theres to much fun games to also play a game from 2016 . I don’t have time for : starfield, star citizen, no man’s sky, lords of the fallen, Texas chainsaw massacre,Alan wake 2 and many many more coming . Where did the time go holy shit
New player here. And no. Not confusing. Its as it should be. Why would i want to get into echoes right away. I want to find it myself, whole point in exploration. Alittle nit picky much for hand holding.
I don’t get this narrative that is going around saying we need endless hours of gameplay and original missions completed before unlocking the new features. That didn’t happened to me at all. I started nms with a brand new save for this update and I got pretty fast into the pirate space battles and in the exact same system the new race missions unlocked without me even completed any of the traditional tutorial quests even.
So I don’t understand why this idea that we need to unlock a ton of stuff to enjoy the new update features is around. That is not my experience at all.
Maybe because I started the game from scratch.
I agree it will hold my attention for a little bit but once I can play early access starfield then I will be playing starfield for some time.
So they are catering specifically for the gatekeepers. Not a good direction for a game to go in.
Why wasn't the new musuem feature mentioned? It's a huge addition
My problem with no mans sky as a returning player (stoped playing early 2021) right now is that i feel absolutly lost and dont know what to do. I cant really remember how to do anything, so naturally i started a new save. I dont know why, but i got so annoyed in the first 2 hours from the early grind. I just want to start building credit/resource farms and awesome settlements. Something like a crash course for every feature would be so nice.
Try playing the next expedition! They kinda guide you through all aspects of the game with less grind. It’s a limited time save but once the expedition ends it becomes a normal save
Everything being spelled out in games is bad imo.
I thought the space station cores were simply given a function in the outlaws update and nothing more. That said, they could definitely have a lot more lore and options surrounding them. Also when I first saw this update I did think it was silly that there were a bunch of quests to complete. Only because I hadn't done A Trace of Metal. But I've recently changed my opinion and think that the echoes being end-game content makes a lot of sense. It's more clear than ever now when showing up to the anomaly who the noobs, seasoned-adventurers, and veteran players are.
I disagree with that comment about No Man's Sky being a wide ocean of water that is only knee deep. There are a long list of things to do in this game thanks to 7 years of great updates. I have almost 2,000 hours in this game with no end in site. I love this new update. I think the need for endgame content is much needed. I agree that Hello Games should have communicated that the Autophage quest line is endgame content in the patch notes without people struggling to find out. The PSVR2 update is great. Outstanding improvement.
my issue is you get all of this shit in the game like "oh boy a new ship with better upgrades!" for what though. so I can kill something faster that I could already kill with a C class ship? I think there needs to be a PVP zone update to where certain zones in a galaxy are just player combat and raiding zones where freighters and ships battle for each others goods. of course for that they would have to have an anti cheat system in place and do a massive save wipe for everyone which I don't see them doing, so for now the gameplay loop is insanely boring after a few hours. just as it was in 2016 (if you aren't a player that wants to do story missions or boring ass expeditions). the player hub was a move in the right direction but it just kind of stopped there, there needs to be more player interaction options. which I also don't see happening considering the multiplayer is some of the most buggy/desync gameplay I've ever seen. still awesome updates they are dumping out but its legit like 10 mins of content (besides story stuff)
Seven years in, i have 2 and a half hours into the game. The game is just not fun for me.
@Saltine-qd1vx just needs more reason for players to interact like planetary dungeons or full on capital ship wars. Hell make a ship technology to where it scans the galaxy for active players and you can warp into their system and raid them or something
@@chronovation97 if they did what you say, i would play the game all the time.
@Saltine-qd1vx me too bro. With how desynced and buggy multiplayer had been for years I don't ever see it happening
Being forced to complete certain missions that you might otherwise not bother with (in my case, the full Artemis quest, and anything to do with Settlements) kinda defeats the object of an open world sandbox game, IMO. I AM doing the prereqs in one of my Survival saves, though, just because, but not enjoying it.
i thought it wes great!!
I understand why they locked the new story after the main storyline but I haven't completed it and usually don't on new saves so it is a bit annoying
can i command my fleet to attack other fleets and participate in the battle? i want to be my own pirate faction
#1 #LZ #nmsl #agt still working on it myself 👍🏻
Loved this from day one.
Missions aren’t triggering for me
This update has solidified my opinion that HG needs to rip out the current star ship flight model/mechanics and give us true 6 degrees of freedom type of flight. It's even more glaringly obvious how poor the flight mechanics, even though they've been improved over the years, are when you're trying to strafe these new dreadnoughts and literally aren't able to.
How are you not able to strafe them? Do you have some specific definition? I don't use anything more than keyboard and a gaming mouse. Flight controls work great. Love the new addition of power systems control. Especially with the newer ships you can just pick your spot behind the engines, start firing, and pivot slowly while you blow them to hell. Strafing runs through the trenches are fantastic so.... wheres the issue?
Yeah, the flight mechanics have been improved, but not nearly enough to make it engaging. I would like to see it overhauled to something similar to Star Wars Squadrons. Arcadey, but still with a decent level of depth.
@@plo617Depth is something that must be brought in all contents of NMS in next update.
Great review. One wonders if the free updates are portions of a finished game somewhere that they trickle out.
I’m all for paid dlc or a nms2.0.
The analogy of an endless ocean that is knee deep is accurate. I don’t think the station override fixes the ocean analogy.
It needs AI life in it. More diversity of aliens and quests. I’d love to raid other player towns to arrest a bounty. It’s a great game no doubt just in small bites
i really hope they focus more on combat.the exploration part is really boring (you land on a planet mine things and go to the next one after 10 minutes) imagine having pvp on a whole planet! or space fights! i hope so hard they add alot of pvp modes and the *map* offers so much possibilites.i mean with the base building you can even create your own team deathmatch maps etc!
Don't start imagining how great this game could be if they would only add ________.
That's a never ending disappointing cycle
I will never understand this "issue" - people literally do this now. Everyone can turn on/off PvP anytime they want between everyone, just friends, just group. People build arenas, there are PvP planets people have made arena bases all over the place that you teleport to like levels. Space combat competitions are even more popular than ground based PvP. Probably the most popular are people getting together and doing a derelict freighter mission, clearing it out, and then doing a countdown while everyone runs to a distant spot in the freighter. Then it's game on PvP in the spooky freighter maps. There's just not a huge population of PvP'ers in this game. Start a group or ask around in forums. Or... Starfield looks like it is seriously focused on combat! :)
Another update with little substance that gets stale after a few hours
