Yeah, their music isn't that hard to play. But from a studio update they released, Chris mentions he's not all about technicality so long as the music sounds good, in which case it does. It'd be neat though if they had some super technical riffs in their music somewhere. I was expecting more since Adam D. from KillSwitch was their producer and all. Oh well, they still kick ass.
@KillswitchEngage42 Lol, you know the Killswitch Guitarist worked with TDWP on their new album, right? Adam D produced the whole album. Just thought I'd throw that out there :) and no, I am not from TDWP in case you were wondering.
@quadcannon95 They play very well. Not a huge fan of the choice of bridge Ibanez did, but overall a very well built guitar to hammer on. Check out the Ec-1000 models by LTD/ESP aswell great guitars for the money.
@SuperBobjon I was sweeping at 3 months fluently across 6 strings and 3 octaves.. I know someones gonna say "BULLSHIT" but whatever. It's not about how long you've been playing, it's about how much practice you put in... and me being a huge Jason Becker fan, sweeping is all I wanted to do. I still consider myself a beginner at almost 3 years of guitar playing though.
I would like to see Christian Muenzner of Obscura having a section at GW. Would me much more educational 'cause he has an own great style of arranging licks and solos!
The movie was released AFTER the band officially named themselves 'The Devil Wears Prada'. Do your research first before you think you know everything.
@memphisbrandon It originated from the novel, yes. But the meaning behind their name and the novel aren't one in the same. The meaning behind their name, coming from Mike, is talking about how the world is too focused on possesions, when they should be caring more about non-materialistic things, such as God
Yeah I like both of them, I just thought it was funny how everyone was dissing slipknot and slayer fans on a tdwp's video and they're all touring together lol.
@marcussilvamgs I'm no fan of TDWP, or any -core genre; but a lot of people are, and genres like metalcore, deathcore etc. being what's "IN" in metal/hard rock, just like Grunges was in the 90's. Because of it's popularity, it's only natural for GuitarWorld to take some of the "pioneers" of the genres, and make instructional videos with them. That bein' said, I wish they where a bit more versatile; every time an artist comes out with a new record, they do a vid. We need more columns.
@Oneofthefallen67 Could be a simple mistake of words, too. I dunno about you, but I think it takes some guts to teach this stuff in front of the tons of people who will be watching, and judging you. It was such a subtle mistake too, we know what he means, it's not a big deal.
@clwnz777 thats very impressive, i play 2 hrs a day, and ive been playing for 2 years, im one of teh better players in my town and the best in my school,
Just putting my opinion in here, but, just because they are very popular, does that make them talented or elite? Is Justin Bieber the musical God? The logic doesn't make sense. In reality, the masses love simplistic music they can bob their head to. TDWP is an example of this simplicity.
@clwnz777 a beginner def cant sweep, thats for sure, just saying, its jus showing that guy to watch what hes saying, imagine if i was jimmy page on his secret youtube account, he has no idea, people can just be very mindless
@SuperBobjon Well, if you want to look stupid among the REAL guitar players who play actual composed music with melodies and the like who aren't interested in money/fame (Becker, Gilbert, Petrucci, Broderick, etc..)... then I guess yeah, who gives a shit. I also like how you used the fact that you can sweep to squirm out of the "beginners'. Just because you can sweep doesn't automatically make you any better... just saying.
@jvstin360 You talking about other people yet you're watching a video of music you don't like lol. I swear y'all dudes on here act like some teenage girls arguing on the internet. If you don't like their fans don't watch the video and get a life, easy as that. Don't get your feelings hurt and type me a paragraph either, I could care less.

I learned this entire song by ear. It makes me proud to know that I got this right, note for note. :)
how I miss him
Too sick. Makes me wanna play guitar again. Haven't played in forever, lol.
i am dying to see these guys and i regret not seeing them in the show they played here in Florida early this month

That explains why Chris uses an 85 in the bridge.
Best song of the album, nice
The beginning of this riff sounds just like the beginning of the riff in the lesson for Born to Lose.
@SuperBobjon actually no, where ever you count from the a sting is still the fifth string, not the second, oneofthefallen67, is correct.
@quadcannon95 They play very well. Not a huge fan of the choice of bridge Ibanez did, but overall a very well built guitar to hammer on. Check out the Ec-1000 models by LTD/ESP aswell great guitars for the money.
@Oneofthefallen67 he talked about the slide to 12th fret second string (A-String)
@PedrozaJonathan Drop B. It's 6 strings. 6 tuners = 6 strings.
I would like to see Christian Muenzner of Obscura having a section at GW. Would me much more educational 'cause he has an own great style of arranging licks and solos!
@stringslayer97 its drop b. but some of the songs on the new album are in drop a.
@quadcannon95 No its his signiture art
@SuperBobjon Not really. It's become tradition to call the B string the second string. Just look at any pack of strings.
@clwnz777 you've been sweeping the floor for 3 months fluently? wow dude. so u also mop and buffer and wax?
@Oneofthefallen67 He obviously learned by ear and not by tablature.
I love how he uses the word burp haha
@quadcannon95 got one for Christmas... buy one.. enough said.. it's like laying your fingers on a cloud :)
i love him :D
Is there contract with schecter guitars up? cause now Chris plays Ibanez ARZ 800's
The movie was released AFTER the band officially named themselves 'The Devil Wears Prada'. Do your research first before you think you know everything.
@SuperBobjon Wauw, thats amazing
@Oneofthefallen67 2nd, 5th, depends which side your counting from
@Oneofthefallen67 well he is using the more ergonomical style of string counting not that assbackward thing you are using
@stringslayer97 drop b is actually pretty standart for metalcore ;)
@quadcannon95 i've played many and they are pretty kick ass for rythym not the best for shredding but most les paul shapes aren't
@quadcannon95 If its good enough for Rubey, than its good enough for anybody.
@memphisbrandon It originated from the novel, yes. But the meaning behind their name and the novel aren't one in the same. f#cking bad ass riffs.
@marcussilvamgs I'm no fan of TDWP, or any -core genre; but a lot of people are, and genres like metalcore, deathcore etc. being what's "IN" in metal/hard rock, just like Grunges was in the 90's.

sounds tuned down ... do anyone know which tuning its in ?
what is the song at the beginning?
all the haters who disliked this video only disliked it because they couldnt play the riff even with Chris's instructions xD
wow i like jazz :)
@Oneofthefallen67 Its nerves buddy!
@marcussilvamgs haha yea, so you must play then right?
@Oneofthefallen67 some people call it the a string the second string, i like to call it the fifth myself lol
@clwnz777 i know, but still, its standard tuning so its just on big sircle of ebgdaebgdaebgdae
@Oneofthefallen67
Could be a simple mistake of words, too.
I dunno about you, but I think it takes some guts to teach this stuff in front of the tons of people who will be watching, and judging you.
It was such a subtle mistake too, we know what he means, it's not a big deal.
@NoobDante exactly.
@marcussilvamgs i know, but still, who gives a shit, its rock and roll bro
BEST RIFF IN THE SONG! And one my fav riffs. TDWP
people dislike it cuz they'll never learn to play that riff
@TheGarfi uh thanks :D
awesome! :D i must wash my pants now...
@HaruUnite lol everyone does :P i do all the time
Intro tittle song?
@clwnz777 thats very impressive, i play 2 hrs a day, and ive been playing for 2 years, im one of teh better players in my town and the best in my school,
@jjorbita Yeah, haha, of course.
actually, they named themselves after a book. the movie was created AFTER the band was.
@memphisbrandon Their name has nothing to do with the novel, though
@Guitarist9992 That was groovy as hell. You obviously weren't listening.
@DaviddddEO I totally agree with you! People should know what the hell they're talking about before they say stupid crap -.-
kinda funny how tdwp are touring with slayer and slipknot this summer lmao
@memphisbrandon Yeah I agree with you
wow i click on a gw video and see a bunch of people complaining about which string he said. GET OVER IT.
I know how to do pinch harmonics but i can never do them for this particular song!
Just putting my opinion in here, but, just because they are very popular, does that make them talented or elite? Is Justin Bieber the musical God? The logic doesn't make sense. In reality, the masses love simplistic music they can bob their head to. TDWP is an example of this simplicity.
ME
Lets get this straight,He's a good guitarist in Practical,but he just forgets his guitar theory.
Why so many dislikes?!?!
@bastischlonz wow thats really deep ^^
@nsmetal27 same here o.o..LOL.we fail.

R.I.T. i think
Look at his username! lmao. excuse him! TDWP FOREVER!
@TheeDevilWearsPrada Haha Looks pretty stupid of me, doesn't it? Made the account when I was thirteen :)
That took about five seconds to learn.
@clwnz777 a beginner def cant sweep, thats for sure, just saying, its jus showing that guy to watch what hes saying, imagine if i was jimmy page on his secret youtube account, he has no idea, people can just be very mindless

american horror story
I love tdwp but this guy isn't that much of a guitar player
More Petrucci less genericcore.
Oh look, another pointless youtube argument in the comments below ^^
that wasnt groovy...
a few act dualy new watt few tall king a bowed, yew wood no day worth foamed beef horde da moo v eve an game owed. day naim there bent effed her debug. beak oz day farted at some pingtool dew it ann tea mold earrie alley some. butt internal tube jihaa bald fez yawn oar watt effort a heli this a bowed. digest capped denim ant pre ate a nu mean info rita bald auntie my tear rio listen. lure defects be thor youth ride took great a size ash hull!
The things he's explaining in these videos is the most simple, generic shit I have ever heard.
Not proud.

This guy's not groovy.
