Hi again Dimitri. Your comments in this video resonate with me completely. The lane keeping assist on my very new Haval Jolion reacts in exactly the same way. Not being content with knowing that the car is wholly within the two lines, it tries to make be absolutely, precisely, in the centre of the lane, which is a little annoying. That I can handle. However, on my very first drive of my car, having left the Haval dealership in Mackay and driving home to the Whitsundays, and with precisely 49 km on the clock, an alarm sounded, and a message flashed warning me of a vehicle approaching from the rear at high speed. A check of my mirrors confirmed a semi-trailer doing exactly that. I thought "Wow, I have never experienced that before. How good is that?" Next, the message that I had a vehicle in my blind spot sounded and the warning light embedded in the RH outside mirror flashed. The semi was overtaking me. "Perfect, I thought, that works too" Then, looking ahead, I realised the Semi driver was reckless. He was overtaking me when not safe to do so. Then, before he had completely overtaken, I saw his indicators flashing his intention to move to the left into my path. My concern became alarm. He wasn't driving a semi-trailer at all. It was a B-double! And this idiot was all set to run me off the road with the 2nd trailer. Spontaneously, I hit the brakes and swerved to the left to get onto the gravel verge of the road. To my alarm, the car's lane assist tried to prevent me doing so, working as fiercely as it could to keep me on the bitumen! Luckily, the B-double missed me, literally, by centimeters. But no thanks to the lane assist! Sorry for the long preamble, but I needed to set the scene for what could easily have been a Jolion wiped out with 49 km on the clock, or worse, a fatality. A warning to all motorists with lane assist; in the strong desire to keep you in the middle of your lane, this technology can cause a nasty incident, so be aware!
Hi Richard, wow mate, this is a good example of a detailed story where that detail is critically required to properly understand just how bad the situation might have been... Idiots on the road, they are everywhere. 🤦♂️ Unfortunately these "too smart" lane-keep assist systems are just getting in the way of us - experienced drivers - where exactly as you've pointed out, just a bit of resistance could be that little bit that you didn't expect in the moment and that prevented you from avoiding some danger, etc... I will follow this up with our Haval dealership here and ask if there is in fact a software update that would at least allow us to disable the feature permanently, and in the meantime the least you could probably do for your safety and mostly to tell the insurance who was at fault is to perhaps consider installing a dash cam. I know, it won't contribute to your safety and won't solve the problem we are discussing here, but at the very least if some idiot is trying to be reckless merging in front of you, you'd have it on record. Take care of yourself, drive safely.
100% spot on mate. Got my Haval lux a month ago and this is so true. My wife actually hates this about this car. Hope they get a software update where we can drive more peacefully.
@@ValueCarsAU nah mate your spot on with every word you said. when i am on a call (on my airpods) the warning sounds are annoying to me and the person on the call. I have 2 cars and they ask me you driving the haval ? i go like yes how do you know? and they are like those annoying warnings are ringing in my ears ! i just pray they do something about it. But the car is just Fab...
@@wcrash9361 i would love to know how you do that ? on a Haval Lux 2022 model ? Any setting you turn off comes back on after u turn off the car ! Why do you think our mate here is furious about this ?
@@wcrash9361 Mate i agreed with him cause i have the same freking problem... a 100% same... why would u think otherwise??? because i am struggling with the same shit.. and why are u so defensive and argumentative ?? do u work for Haval or what ??? i dont understand ur argument here ??? if u have a perfectly working car good for u.. but ur bluntly saying that we both are lying ??? WTF mate and why should we do that ???
Had an Isuzu Mu-x as a hire car which did this on a regional trip. Biggest issue was there was no line on the edge of the road so it was forever pushing me from the centre out. Fortunately you can turn it off in the MU-X. Would be worth getting a petition together from all Haval owners to have them update the software to allow you to turn off correctly and save settings. Can’t be too hard.
My wifes Kia Sorento has two types of assist. Steering assist and lane keep assist. The steering assist works to keep you centered in the lane at all times and works great on a freeway. However, it becomes annoying on suburban roads as its constantly making adjustments. The lane keep assist intervenes if you get too close to the white lines but only gently moves you back. At no time do you have to wrestle it and it disengages when you indicate. I was thoroughly impressed by it.
I fully agree with you my friend! honestly speaking I'm really annoyed and disturbed by this option of H6 Ultra. Will try the temporary turn off option now. I got my first 1000 km servicing due soon. Will discuss the issue with the dealer and inform you. Thanks a lot 🙏
Like you love the car! But the lane assistance is a nuisance. Only had my Haval a month, but value for money I think it is great. Thank you for your honest feedback
With the mg zst I had the forwarded collision that I couldn’t turn off .I figured out how to disable it on RUclips.I got all the rest under control to the point where it’s doing exactly what I want it to do only without giving me useless beeps and automating my driving .I’m happy with it once I configured it to my driving needs .
Glad for you, but not sure what kind of "hack" I'll need to apply to H6 to make sure the car actually remembers to keep the ELK off if I've turned it off...
@@ValueCarsAU I think Haval themselves would be able to turn it off permanently.I would ask them if it’s possible and take it in to a service centre to configure it .Hopefully they can solve that problem for you Dimitri.
Fully agree with you. I just arrived yesterday in Brisbane, and rented à Haval H6. I am à long time sensible driver, and this ELK thing is already driving me crazy. Not sûre I'll have the nerves to keep it 2 months!!! Denis Percheron, french visiting family in OZ.
Welcome to OZ my friend! Glad you found the same thing, and it's "not just me"! 😉 (you do get used to it - or to turning it off every time - BUT I doubt you'll stay here long enough for that to happen)
I’m so glad it’s not just me that feels this. I’ve had the car for 2 weeks and also love everything about it except for the ELK. It’s making me dislike the car, which is sad because it’s such a lovely car.
Also on unmarked roads, I find it extremely dangerous. Since it can’t find lines to stay in, the car seems to think the centre of the road is the middle of the lane. So I find myself, as you say “wrestling” with the car to keep myself to the left side of the road. Otherwise it would drive me straight out into oncoming traffic.
I agree with you. Check out my upcoming video (scheduled to be released next Friday) where I revisit this topic and share a story from another viewer... ELK is the only bad thing about this car so far...
This must have been addressed since your review, my H6 Ultra hybrid was built at the end of 2023 and it barely even does anything when I go over the lane. My ELK and lane keep assist is all kept on normal, I think it only beeped gently when I went over the line. So I added in vibrate but I don't think that's going to cut it, I need it to steer me back into the lane! No good if I fall asleep and all it does is beep gently and vibrate slightly. I wish I had your ELK!.
Forgot to add one thing. When you change lanes press the break pedal. I found that while break is engaged, even slight pressure the steering dont resist or wrestle. Hope it helps
Hi mate , LOL Honeymoon over ! Your so correct that all cars have quirks & thankfully my HS driving assist switches off to only vibrate but I to find little issues like when it's 'frosty ' outside (Scotlands weather) the car windows are clear but the front camera becomes inoperative ( warning on screen) & I understand its obviously still ice covered but being dark here in winter most of the time the auto lights stick on high beam / traffic assist & Lane departure go bonkers . Thanks again for your video & letting me voice my frustration that too much automation while mostly great gets on my 'tits' sometimes !!!! . Cheers & enjoy the sunshine , its -4C degrees here in Inverness .
Hello my friend, I bet you could use every bit of lane keep assist intelligence there in cold dark Scotland! 😉 I've never been to Scotland but would love to visit one day, as it must be gorgeous, and I don't mind the rain too much!
Love your explanation on Lane Assist.I've had my H6 Ultra for a year now ( 25,000 km ). Love the car ( & price back then ). I use Cruise Control all the time ( mainly so I don't get a Ticket - ha ! ). The car is quite fast otherwise. I do the double activation which brings up the Lane assist ( green lines ) when on longer drives ( a good feature for safety ). Coming to windy bits I turn off/on the cruise through the corners the re-activate... the slowing down was a pain, but I got over it. Just had my service done. Some new software obviously went in .. all these msgs coming up " BLK activated " with a ding ! ,my wife complains about the car wrestling her. We live in the country, lanes not always marked, and Pot Holes. As u say it's not straight line driving all the time. Like you, I turned all the Lanes Assist stuff off, trying to de-activate it. Next time I drove it ( yesterday ) .. the msgs came up again. Couldn't find a " BLK assist activated " msg I could reference in the manual - any ideas ? .. obviously something Lane Assist . Will keep fiddling ... by the way ... loved your explanation, humour goes a long way !!
Hey David thanks for the comment and apologies for late reply - I'm only just back from holidays. Yeah those reactivating ELK systems are probably the main (and only?) really "bad" thing about the car, all-in-all.
@@ValueCarsAU Just driven up to Sydney - just get used to switching off Emergency Side Assist whenever I'm out driving- its a PAIN , but hardly gonna put a downer on the CAR overall - maybe they'll switch everything off one day and then you just activate what you want ... maybe ( ha ) !
Sambala here... No I can tell you this is not normal. On my cx5 if I have indicated before switching lanes then the lane keep assist would not intervene at all. However if I did not indicate and moved close to the lane boundary then yes the steering would give feedback
Yesterday, I test drove the Haval Jolion Hybrid and the Haval H6 Hybrid. I felt that the H6's intelligent driving assistance is indeed more advanced. Precisely because of the presence of this system, I actually feel more confident driving this car compared to the Haval Jolion. Even if the system's judgment is incorrect, turning the steering wheel forcefully will prioritize manual control. The Jolion just feels terrible to drive; this car is much better in comparison. So, I've decided on the Haval H6 Hybrid and will pick it up next week. As someone with 6 years of driving experience but driving a midsize SUV for the first time, I really appreciate this more responsive system setting
I haven't driven Jolion Hybrid specifically so will reserve judgment on ELK in it vs. the one in baseline Jolion and H6 petrol models, but overall think that it's generally a wrong direction for the brand and the people driving on our roads to rely on the electronics DOING THEIR JOB (as a driver) FOR THEM. It's pathetic.
Like you said. The car is awesome!! It is a bit annoying and yes it does keep you in the lane but i dont feel that much of a tuck. When i do feel a tug, is when you drive on cruise control and there is a road exit.. the car randomly would do a fast turn towards the exit then back into the road haha. I do drive the hev so dont have much complain with the gearbox. Nice video!!
@@ValueCarsAU Keep up the good work buddy. Love your video and the car. I have the h6 hybrid. 6.0 litres per 100 ks. I religiously turn ELK off every time. It's those bloody bells. Take care
Let me propose organizing a campaign to raise awareness about this pressing issue that can lead to serious consequences, on the road. Without doing so, it may go unnoticed and ignored by the Haval if there are no official complaints. Therefore, I suggest initiating the campaign by sending letters to appropriate authorities or representatives. If at least ten people write expressing their concerns, it will compel the haval to address and rectify this issue. As a recent arrival in Australia, I am not familiar with the local committee overseeing the car industry. However, I am certain that there are organizations dedicated to this cause, and they should be involved in this campaign.
Well, THIS is my campaign for awareness and it also is me "doing my part". Good idea to start doing yours! Let me know if you get anything off the ground and I'll see if I can help promote.
I have a 2022 haval h6 ultra. I turned the sensitivity down. No problem. Indicate when changing lanes no wrestling. Luv my car bought new 7th October 2022 👍👍👍👌👌😁😎
We have Haval hybrid and emergency lane assist and fatigue driving are driving us both nuts and actually feel dangerous second guessing how to drive better than me. I want the choice to turn them on if I need to and resent that I have to turn them both off every time I restart the car. I am all for a petition to Haval.
Thanks for your insight Georgia - the number of us, people who don't like their ELK system, is growing... Wait until my follow-up video on exactly this topic - scheduled to be released this Friday. I'd love to hear your further thoughts then!
I called a Haval dealer in Melbourne today but he outright rejected that setting cannot be turned off. He said the LKA can be turned off permanently and also the sensitivy can be adjusted. Will be have a test ride soon.
Thanks for the sincere review. I own a Haval H6 2022 Ultra. Same thing happened to me as well. Wrestling with it is most annoying that makes me thinking should I sell it? I drove Hyundai Staria, Toyota Hilux, and other vehicle with Lane assist features. And all of them cancel resistance as soon as I indicate and start changing lane. But H6 resist even if I indicate properly. Another thing is when a lane widens near the exit, it seems little confused. If I switch the lane assist off, ELK switch on and those annoying alarm beeps makes me mad!
Thanks for sharing mate. I really haven't used many ADAS of Haval, simply because ELK annoyed me and I was like - "no, not even trying the others...". Now it's not my problem anymore, but I do feel that GWM is shooting themselves in the foot with this underbaked electronics while otherwise making rather solid vehicles.
Weird the Haval Jolion turns off lane keeping when you indicate and emergency lane keeping activates when you try to change lane with another vehicle in your blind spot only.
I just got a H6 LUX hybrid version as a company vehicle few weeks ago. Most of my driving is around inner city Sydney. I turn the car on and off at least 15-20 times per day it's very annoying that ELK resets to on again every time I turn the car off. I'm finding the car is very hard to control in low sensitivity setting and dangerous in inner city lanes constant battle, changing lanes, merging lanes, taking a nice line around long bends etc. It pulls you into the opposite direction and side to side it's very unstable driving to keep it steady. I've even been checking my side mirrors to see that I'm in the middle of my lane still pulls side to side. I start the car 15-20 times a day in my travels I have to remember to turn ELK off for a stable safe drive every time this is so annoying! It's like my driving experience evolves around managing the ELK it's crazy. How they believe this is a positive safe feature is beyond me maybe the designers tested this ELK system in super wide lanes or something it's very non confidence inspiring and dangerous driving. I would highly recommend to do your research and understand ELK resets every time you turn it off before you outlay your hard earned money.
Completely agree with everything you said, and thank you for sharing. I also have no idea how they thought "it's a good thing", and how can they remain deaf to all the uproar against this feature - not just on my tiny channel - it's beyond me...
I have had my H6 Ultra HEV for a little over a month. For the first 3 weeks I drove in the city (Melbourne) most of the time and the ELK activated a few times, on occasions. I thought nothing of that. Then we went away for a weekend, on a long drive and suddenly it was activating every few seconds, over and over - mostly on country roads, with poor lane markings, windy roads, lots of shadows etc. On one trip it went off 70 times (and told me so when we stopped) in an hour. I set the sensitivity to Low and vibrate only and it still kept going off, trying to push me across the lane. It's not concerning me, but it is very annoying to be pinging me all the time and the ELK activated flashes on the dash. Very annoying.
Thanks for sharing mate, interesting to know that they haven't adjusted the settings and didn't give you control as a driver even in the latest models. Very disappointing!
Lol see u having fun with your new car lol . I wonder if manufacturers ever do test new vehicles before starting manufacturing to sell to the public! Since I started driving I owned over 20 new cars but my last one is a falcon 2004 model , I’m keeping it as I don’t like electronics in cars they are a pain the the ass
BMW’s do the same thing, you can turn it all off however like the Havel some models default to comfort mode when you turn the car off and then back on again which turns on all the assists again. Many a rim has been buckled by not being able to avoid pot holes due to the car stopping you from leaving the lane. I hate driving assists personally but they do have their place for a lot of people.
I agree - they do have a place for a lot of people, but you and I don't need them and AT LEAST should be given an immediate opportunity by the manufacturer to turn these settings off and forget about them. I can't seem to get that here, as ELK turns itself back on. People who say it's not intrusive must be either 1) representing GWM in my comments, or 2) be very chill and zen-buddhist by nature! 🤷♂️🤣
@@ValueCarsAU haha agree mate! If there is anything that blows my zen right out of the window it’s smashing through a pot hole o could have avoided if the car didn’t force me to drive straight into it. Seems like a silly think to have cars default back to standard settings rather than user settings. At least with the bmw you can change it back to user settings with one button push. Seems like a software update is in need, maybe if enough people complain it will happen. Either that or some aftermarket solution to cancel it out all together, it’s great until it’s not.
The lane keep assist is the same in every car. The reason why your H6 brought you back on to your lane even when you had a turn signal on is most likely because you had someone very close in your Blind spot. Even though there may have been enough space for you to turn, the safety system has a certain distance it wants from the car in the blind spot before it wants to allow you to change lanes. No matter indicators on or not. Any new car has this quirk with lane keep assist.
Good guess, but there was no one in my blind spot, I was turning off to the side street. And it goes that every time, as that's where I live and can test it every day. Very weird behaviour.
Is this safety feature always on or does it only turn on when you enable cruise control like the RAV4? By default it doesn't do anything until you enable cruise control, then it'll start beeping and everything if you dare to get close to the line without the indicator on. Unfortunately I can't wait 24 months for a new hybrid RAV4 which costs more than a BYD Etto 3 so this car looks like it's at the sweet spot until the electric cars are fixed. @@ValueCarsAU
Thanks for your honest opinion , this will help for car manufacturers and the buyers. Regarding the name of Chanel, my personal opinion is that it's better to change it on your own .
This is quite strange , I wonder if the software on the Australian version is different according to regulations , if you turn elk off in the South African h6 then it is OFF there is no interference.
No idea mate, but I described it as accurately as I could. You can definitely feel the resistance, and ELK definitely comes on after engine restart, even if you turned it off beforehand.
Another huge issue with the haval cruise control is in both modes we have 110km/h freeways and going up and down the hills it will slow all the way down to under 90 km/h and is basically asking for an accident to happen.
I heard about this but haven't tested H6 cruise control yet myself, even though I've been up and down the highway to Central Coast a few times now. Somehow I preferred to do the proper driving myself rather than rely on cruise which I typically save for more lengthy trips. But I'll pay attention to how it behaves next time I'm going up there.
Thanks for a clear review, it seems the lane assist system is an automative version of poorly tested production software, guys who designed this could have easily allowed you to save these settings so they dont reset on every restart but not doing so is like endorsing crap malware onto you.
Ford Puma has ELK, but it's pretty soft and mostly can be changed to just vibrate. Settings are also saved, despite turning the car off and on again. I have also had shocking experiences with our Isuzu MUX's autonomous braking system when taking merge/turning lanes at junctions. I guess it's all new tech with bugs? Do you think this tech will be able to be adjusted with software updates in future from Haval??
I work in a GWM licenced service centre, and to this day (i see this review is now 1yr old), to this day, everyday, pple come in asking can we turn off the lane assist permanently bc it is aggressive that it frightens them 😂 Otherwise, pple love this car.
So - if you really work there - WHY then GWM isn't listening to its customer base? Surely you'd know, or at least were given an official response to give people by the head office?
😌😌😌This is bought over from Mercedes or may be Porshe. I have A GLE 400 and same problem with the lane issue, cannot understand why the car did not learn this. just don't use it, let see this issue go away on my new H6 arrive Dec. Thank you for sharing...
Love LKAS and would not be without it now. As long as you can turn off all audible warnings you will come to love it. It makes long trips so much more comfortable. Nothing will happen to the car, just ignore it.
Thanks Darron, that's reassuring. Unfortunately you can't turn off either ELK or the audible warnings, in spite of it telling me that I should be able to just leave it on vibration. Nope, it still bongs.
@@ValueCarsAU Yeah, no way can you put up with stupid bongs. Surely there is some way to turn it off. I would contact Haval and ask them otherwise I would go insane as I use the LKAS all the time.
I recently drove a Mercedes Benz GLS from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. That car arm wrestled with me on every lane change, twice. The first time was when I was approaching the line and the car would turn in the opposite direction, and the second time was when the car was halfway across the line and it would turned in the direction I was going. I had to be mentally prepared to arm wrestle the car twice each time I made a lane change. I'm not sure I've made myself clear. Did you feel me?
Good to hear a perspective of someone driving a very different vehicle, thanks... I wonder, did you indicate when changing lanes? What annoys me is that the car ignores that I WANT TO change lanes. If I didn't - maybe fair enough?
@@ValueCarsAU Yes, I always hit the turn indicator before I change lanes or make a turn. Even when there's no traffic on the street at 3am . It's a habit of mine to drive. The Mercedes GLS is an extremely comfortable car for long journeys, as long as you don't have to change lanes.
I was thinking that too, blind the camera so it can't see your face, but probably not as easy as that, as system would not like no info, probably set off alarm or drop into limp mode.. I don't own a H6 and was seriously considering buying BUT am anxious about these intrusive and annoying "assistance" systems. A real pity as the car is exactly what I want, and could be solved by being able to permanently turn off functions. I can drive, I don't need or want lane assistance, or a car that hits the brakes around a corner with cruise control (bloody dangerous as cars/truck following wouldn't expect sudden braking.)
Surely the intrusive "assistance" such as lane keeping could & should be able to be turned off permanently with a software update. This would be something Haval should do as a service update. I seems VERY few people actually like this feature, regardless of the make (I rented a. Camry and it had horrible lane keeping)..it's actually a detraction from the car.
GWM Australia doesn't seem to care about what people think as long as there are plenty of complacent buyers who think it's ok when the car tries to drive in their stead... 🤦
Hi Mate, I bought my H6 Ultra in Melbourne in Nov 22 love the car as much as you are find exactly the same problem of lane keep assistant annoying me on top of that some times I have a different problem randomly car is not recognising the key inside and fail to start, after few attempts it does start but I wonder what's wrong with it, I guess too much automation is ruining the driving pleasure other than that it's a wonderful car to live with.
Hey mate, ugh the key problem... I'm lucky to not have had it yet myself and fingers crossed I never will, as that sounds REALLY annoying. I think you probably should tell them about it during your first month complimentary check, to see if they can do something about it, like perhaps update software package on the car or something like that, I'd honestly not know what's causing it, but it seems like a software issue?
Hi Dimitri, I live in South Africa and have the Haval Jolion superlux. My car has the same lane keep assist function and I have the same problem where the emergency assist comes back on every time you start the car. I really hate this feature and agree that you have to wrestle the car at times. Please help is there any way to turn and keep this off permanently? Apart from this I'm really loving the car. Cheers
I'd love to be able to turn it off permanently, just like you can do in MG cars. No idea how to do that so far mate, but rest assured I'll post a video about it if it's ever becomes possible.
@@ValueCarsAU it is really annoying. Each time I turn on the car I go into the settings and turn off emergency lane assist, but it's becoming frustrating to keep doing that each time. Thanks Dimitri hope someone can come up with a solution soon. Cheers
I was told on one of the haval dealerships that if haval allows drivers to turn ELK off permanently then H6 may get worse ANCAP rating. How is it now? Did Haval issue a new firware to solve this iisue?
There's no firmware update, it's all BS mate. I don't know why they can't let us turn ELK off while many other brands including MG have the same 5 star ANCAP rating and ALLOW you to turn their ELK off. So go figure. Lame excuses is what I call it.
@@ValueCarsAU yeah that's unfortunate. I am considering to buy one but now not sure how bad and annoying it would be. BTW, does 2.0 turbo engine suitable with E10?
Have the same problem with my Haval Jolion 2022,, had to turn emergency lane keeping off most of times driving again and again it became a habit But oh boy how convenient is the lane keeping cruise control, It’s semi automated driving ,, very handy on highways as I daily travel 60-90Km Hoped if I could turn it off once and If I had the ability to go standard cruising without radar slowing me down on turns I’d rather pay more and get the H6 if I time traveled back But overall I’m satisfied with the car
Great insights thank you! I don't own Jolion so don't exactly know what I might have overpaid for (?) as Jolion looks great too, but I'm quite happy with H6 overall so far.
The things in H6 you can't find in Jolion: Electric trunk door, I'm not sure but I think H6 has perforated leather and correct me if I'm wrong cuz mine isn't perforated and yes the physical buttons rather than all touch, and finally a good placed cup holders rather than the badly designed cupholders in my car the bottles get in the way of my hand and the gear cuz they are just infront of the armrest 🙂
Just got my Havel H6 ultra 2days ago the lane assist fight doesn’t bother me that much but I did my first short road trip today today and the sudden braking on the open road for no apparent reason is horrifying just wondering has anyone else had this and any solutions or thoughts
@@ValueCarsAU cheers for the reply Dimitri. I'm not a huge fan of leather seats but as you know that's what you get. I'm picking up the H6 Ultra Hybrid next weekend and the first order of business will be some neoprene seat covers!
Here is a summary for everyone who do not wanna waste 18 minutes of life listening one thing over and over again. Assistive functions keep wrestling you even you turn them off. Thank me later...
@@ValueCarsAU how does the fact you repeating yourself for 18 minutes does anything to do with short attention span? Not mentioning to summarize you video i actually had to watch it. So pretty much your comment doesn’t make any sense. While mine provides you with constructive criticism so you get better videos in a future and capitalize on that. My wife can be annoying would i choose another one? they will have other annoying traits about them lol i agree with you my havalh6 is just under 6k travel it is annoying but i still keep the same wife lol
It's look like MG knew Thai inner very well before you, thb70000(aus3000)less with no LKA/ACC whole package in hs-d(middle mdl) minor change and phev as well. Unfortunately a pre collision warning (which is the only feature works for me) also dismiss
I didn't get any particular response and haven't followed up with them yet, but I'm working on a video to revisit this and will talk to the dealership again
I've had the car just serviced for its first month, I would assume they do this stuff, not like I'd be downloading firmware and installing it somehow myself?
Another cracker of a video my friend, keep them coming. As I’ve said to you previously I bought the Jolion Hybrid and personally I think it is a great car. Yes, as with any brand the cars have their quirks. I don’t find the lka unduly sensitive, except when I’m on the motorway and I get to an off ramp, the lka doesn’t like the white deported lines, it wants me to steer into the off ramp lane rather than carry on in the lane I am in. Why don’t you document the issue and represent it to Haval, they seem very willing to take customer feedback on board and make changes. With my hybrid I have found a couple of software issues, one, if I select Eco or Sport mode the car does not retain that setting, it reverts to normal mode every time the car is restarted, this only effects the hybrid and H6GT versions all the Jolion and H6 petrol models have an option to retain settings, Haval are currently working on a patch to fix this issue. Two, the hybrid has an energy usage report, this does not effect the operation of the car at all and is just an insight into the performance of the car over the last few trips the it has done, electric energy usage appears to be all okay but petrol usage is a different story, if you cover a distance of say 20km then in some instances the fuel usage is reported at some astronomical level, e.g. 4279.2l/100km. I raised this issue with the dealer just over two weeks ago and I heard back today that Haval have supplied a patch which should be available for loading some time this week. As purchasers and users of these vehicles if we don’t feed these concerns back to Haval then nothing will ever be improved and people will continually moan and berate the brand on social media, but if we can help to effect change and improvement then the brand will continue to move forward. Just my thoughts, overall I still think they are a fantastic car.
Hi Derek, I agree, the cars we get from Haval for this price range are fantastic indeed, and thanks for your insights. I'm not really at a scale (or being noticed by Haval) to become a customer advocate or submit feedback etc beyond producing these videos. I'd certainly appreciate if GWM saw us as a friendly (but honest!) club of owners who they should listen to if they want to make their products more appealing for an average Joe/Jane Australian consumer.

Thanks for confirming mate as some other comments made me feel that "it's just me"
@@ValueCarsAU nah mate your spot on with every word you said. when i am on a call (on my airpods) the warning sounds are annoying to me and the person on the call.
@@JahangirKhan-zt2nv not true. The speed warning you can turn off for good. Not the ELK though
I'd love to do that but don't think we have the organisation or the numbers for GWM to notice our "petition" mate.
Very good to hear and sounds like a great feature implementation by Kia! 👌
Check out my latest ELK Shortcut video - it won't solve the problem fully, but it should help you a little bit! 👌
Like you love the car! But the lane assistance is a nuisance. Only had my Haval a month, but value for money I think it is great. Thank you for your honest feedback
It's a great car, I've exchanged mine for a Subaru but STILL think that H6 is a very solid vehicle for our roads.
Interesting! I don't have my H6 any more, but I'm sure this might help someone else.
Hi mate ,
LOL Honeymoon over !
That suggests better electronics and/or software to me personally, glad its working better in CX5
Yeah I still love the car overall, just reporting my findings - good and bad - as always
Does it remember the settings? This is weird and means you have different software version to mine, I'll ring the department to check.
Let me know how you go. My latest information is that it can't be.
Good to know mate, H6 is very insistent! haha
My sister has a Kia Seltos, exat,y the same thing. If we go down a narrow road where you have to be close to the line, it fights you all the way.
Oh, how interesting that KIA has the same problem! Thanks for sharing
Yes, it's the only feature that I hate of a haval. Every time turn on the car I try not forget to turn off that function.
Same here!
Well this one is definitely going too far with the intelligence, and I wouldn't have minded it IF I could turn it off permanently.
@@joycezhang518 How dumb do you need to be to think I'm making this stuff up to get more clicks?? gosh... bye bye
Hello Dimitri. H6 has all the bells whistles BUT I would rather memory driver seat and anchor points in the rear for cargo restraint.Regards Colin.
Fair points mate! I'd also rather substance than extra bling and bells and whistles.
Thanks for your honest opinion , this will help for car manufacturers and the buyers. Regarding the name of Chanel, my personal opinion is that it's better to change it on your own .
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, i decided that changing channel name won't do much for me at the moment, so decided to keep it
This is quite strange , I wonder if the software on the Australian version is different according to regulations , if you turn elk off in the South African h6 then it is OFF there is no interference.
But I'll pay attention to how it behaves next time I'm going up there.
........ Yep it does my head in....... Especially on corners so friggin frustrating 😞
Thanks for a clear review, it seems the lane assist system is an automative version of poorly tested production software, guys who designed this could have easily allowed you to save these settings so they dont reset on every restart but not doing so is like endorsing crap malware onto you.
I now drive a Subaru Outback that has a similar system that works perfectly fine - a great example of the same idea that was implemented properly.
I certainly hope GWM is listening to customer feedback (they'd better, if they want to remain competitive)
I sat through the whoooooole video. Loved it.
Thank you my friend! You're one of the patient ones! haha 🤣
For an experiment. What would happen if you put tape over a couple side cameras?
It would bong continuously
Glad someone ELSE tested that one Darren as I probably wouldn't ask my car for more trouble! hahaha
I found this helpful but it's a worry driving on rides in Australia with semi trailers can be dangerous.
Absolutely, it's a hazard, and an unpredictable thing to worry about, especially if you're on a semi-autopilot mode like in cruise control
Yes I totally agree with you.
Glad you do, cheers
Surely the intrusive "assistance" such as lane keeping could & should be able to be turned off permanently with a software update. This would be something Haval should do as a service update.
I seems VERY few people actually like this feature, regardless of the make (I rented a. Camry and it had horrible lane keeping)..it's actually a detraction from the car.
GWM Australia doesn't seem to care about what people think as long as there are plenty of complacent buyers who think it's ok when the car tries to drive in their stead... 🤦
Here in Bangladesh no one maintains lanes, lanes are just a suggestion here at this point this qurk would be extremely annoying in Bangladesh
Totally agreed, same would be in provincial Russia. But I don't think the system would kick in if it didn't see the lanes painted.
My 2021 GWM Cannon is the same… I’ve learnt to tame the beast 😂
haha that's the most realistic YET positive comment I've read on ELK since publishing this video - good on you mate!
Hi Mate,
I bought my H6 Ultra in Melbourne in Nov 22 love the car as much as you are find exactly the same problem of lane keep assistant annoying me on top of that some times I have a different problem randomly car is not recognising the key inside and fail to start, after few attempts it does start but I wonder what's wrong with it, I guess too much automation is ruining the driving pleasure other than that it's a wonderful car to live with.
Same happened to my H6 GT with fob key...
It's the key battery. They are shit.
Just pop.key open and replace battery
Cheers
thanks for the video - wondering if this is still an issue today?
Why wouldn't it be? However, I don't know, maybe they've updated software in 2024 models (but I doubt it).
No I wouldn't use E10 mate
@@ValueCarsAU, why is that? GWM says nothing about that.
Hi mate,
I have H6 4wd and I'm sure you can turn lane assistant option from driving intelligent option.
Cheers mate
Lane keeping yes, Emergency Lane Keeping (the one that causes most trouble) - no
Have the same problem with my Haval Jolion 2022,, had to turn emergency lane keeping off most of times driving again and again it became a habit
But oh boy how convenient is the lane keeping cruise control, It’s semi automated driving ,, very handy on highways as I daily travel 60-90Km
Hoped if I could turn it off once and If I had the ability to go standard cruising without radar slowing me down on turns
I’d rather pay more and get the H6 if I time traveled back
But overall I’m satisfied with the car
Great insights thank you! I don't own Jolion so don't exactly know what I might have overpaid for (?) as Jolion looks great too, but I'm quite happy with H6 overall so far.
The things in H6 you can't find in Jolion:
Electric trunk door, I'm not sure but I think H6 has perforated leather and correct me if I'm wrong cuz mine isn't perforated and yes the physical buttons rather than all touch, and finally a good placed cup holders rather than the badly designed cupholders in my car the bottles get in the way of my hand and the gear cuz they are just infront of the armrest
🙂
Just got my Havel H6 ultra 2days ago the lane assist fight doesn’t bother me that much but I did my first short road trip today today and the sudden braking on the open road for no apparent reason is horrifying just wondering has anyone else had this and any solutions or thoughts
I heard about that Greg but luckily haven't experienced it myself yet. I bet when I do, I'll go straight to Carsales.com.au to get rid of the car.
Are those neoprene car seat covers on the front seats there? If so, where did you get them? They look nice.
No seat covers mate, just whatever H6 Lux originally comes with.
Thanks, I guess, but if you have attention span for TikTok only, what are you doing on RUclips? AND while I still have your attention... oh... wait...
So as soon as you get over your hurt feelings, you are also welcome 🙏
I would switch them ALL off and drive it old skool.
If only it remembered the settings.
Your Haval is H6 HEV ?
My coming is HEV
thanks
glad it helped!
My wife can be annoying would i choose another one? they will have other annoying traits about them lol
i agree with you my havalh6 is just under 6k travel it is annoying but i still keep the same wife lol
Haha love the analogy but changing cars is much cheaper than changing wives - TRUST ME MATE I'VE DONE BOTH! 🤣
I have also done both
Happy wife happy life she loves haval h6 so both are staying 💖
Can you take mine? Please.
Is there any news about the update being able to be reversed? This update is driving me craaaaaaazy!!!!
What update? There was no update that I'd know of.
"Nut" is not always bad or kind of ... annoying yes I love the macadamia, a king of NUT
It's look like MG knew Thai inner very well before you, thb70000(aus3000)less with no LKA/ACC whole package in hs-d(middle mdl) minor change and phev as well. Unfortunately a pre collision warning (which is the only feature works for me) also dismiss
Lol yes, but I think majority of the audience understood my meaning! ;)
Are you sure it's not a software fault?
How can I be sure? It looks like it's by design though, as it doesn't look like something is glitchy or "broken"... 🤷♂️
what does the Haval dealers said about this?
I didn't get any particular response and haven't followed up with them yet, but I'm working on a video to revisit this and will talk to the dealership again
Have you gone and got the latest firmware update?
I've had the car just serviced for its first month, I would assume they do this stuff, not like I'd be downloading firmware and installing it somehow myself?
@@ValueCarsAU Yeah, you have to specifically ask them to do it, think the latest version came out mid October and it's meant to make it a lot better.
Sell it and get the latest LDV Mifa 9 people mover
Have you seen that "How about.... NO?" Sloth turning head GIF? Look it up.
This is more than annoying, it can be dangerous because it takes your concentration away from driving.
Not just concentration, also the amount of perceived effort needed to avoid danger when you don't expect a resistance - but get some!
Turn it off. I do. It's a pain sometimes but it works
That's what I keep doing EVERY DAMN TIME I drive. It needs to stay off if I turned it off. The only point here.
Still a problem in the 2024 model
I bet it is. Sad that GWM ignores it.
Deez nuts
Indeed
