      I don't see why not - Tifo started off as a purely football channel and Rocket league is basically just football with cars. I agree the video was great though.

    As an Aussie I gotta say it is very funny putting it in the same region as Japan when talking about players from the same region experiencing similar ping.
    Saudi Arabia is a very interesting case of a region just far enough from a major regional player base to create a ping difference but just close enough to not be debilitating.

    Great video, but you forgot to mention what this playstyle looks like from a defenders perspective. At top level (SSL+ ) rocket league defending against a MENA player is a lot harder when they have 100 ping as they appear further away from the ball but when they eventually hit the ball they seem to close that distance a lot faster and get harder hits. As a defender you always need to give yourself some extra time to react. Love the video thanks for covering the esport

    The ping situation feels similar to football players from countries at a high altitude. Even thought their body is adapted to the different levels of oxygen its still creates a hindarance. Especially at the top level, but when they play at sea level some of them benefit from playing with a lack of oxygen!

    Ridiculous to assume that it could somehow be an advantage to play a championship under unfamiliar conditions.

    • @DNeonLamp
      @DNeonLamp Месяц назад +9

      The advantage is the skills and play style they honed under disadvantaged conditions, now being unshackled from the disadvantage.
      Obviously the real 'advantage' is the persistence and skill that earned them their development under these conditions, but it's about an interesting quirk of factors leading to divergent development rather than calling lag an advantage.

      I can attest to better ping giving you an advantage if you're used to higher latency. I felt like a superstar the first time I played online shooter games in Europe after playing from Kenya for most of my life.
      My reaction times were much more honed due to compensating for ping disadvantages.
      It went away after a couple of months of casual play, but it was definitely noticeable when I first moved to Europe.

      A similar situation cropped up in competitive Dr. Mario (yes, that's a thing), where this year's winner rarely plays on the NES consoles used in live play.
      He honed his skills using the much less responsive Switch and marginally better Fightcade, developing a playstyle that only improved when unshackled from those controls. This is more than plausible.
