The changes made to the club world cup was a direct response to the super league getting denied.....its the same thing and the fact that it got approved and not so much push back from the majority of news outlets and community is insane
Nothing will change until the player base mass strikes to a point where they make enough impact that will create drastically new seasons and competition lengths. I don't think anything will really change until the players use their collective power. Some will be afraid to speak out because of backlash, some will be afraid of pay cuts, but it seems inevitable that it will reach a breaking point. At it's core, it's primarily a matter of less games. It will mean seasons and competitions will need to be shortened. They will not likely change game rules like duration or sub rules. Most ppl don't wanna watch if their favorite players are not playing consistently, or if rules change too much. As the video implies, the greed is on a trajectory to backfire. You could cut seasons and competitions down by 1/3rd or so. We may not get the constant influx of football games we crave as fans, but we will have better games in the larger view of things. In the long-term view for a club ownership these players are a commodity and they don't care enough about their long-term health. It'll take a breaking point I imagine we'll see by 2026-2027.
I would say this is more of a symptom of the things that have been allowed to plague the sport over the years, those being agents demanding crazy high fees and wages for their players, multi club ownership and foreign state ownership. All of these things, along with the highly congested match schedule, need to be gone.
Thats part of the problem though. To make the money to buy the best players and abide by the rules. Playing your best players basically becomes necessary for the players individual fan base. Think how many people would stop watching a chelsea match, if cole palmer was not on the sheet. Same goes with Liverpool, Salah; Newcastle, Gordon; spurs, Son
LOL, their own greed is destroying football players. They can all play in lower leagues for less money, nobody is forcing them to play for Barcelona or Man City.
I think somebody even said that before.... players through asking those high salaries have fallen in the trap now teams are looking for more ways to make revenue through more matches
@@namelessacc12 it is absolutely not the clubs. It is the exact reason the Super League was attempted...the clubs wanted to have control of their own destinies. It's not about mental resilience (play more), their body won't be able to take that much pressure.
This comments section is filled with people with no empathy and only envy. If you all gonna compare suffering relative to yours or anyone else then every suffering gets normalised. And who benefits from that? The rich and the politicians. At this point, politicians sound more sane. Yes, they earn big money but after retirement they won't have any other relevant skill to make 10% of that. At the same time, with this much pressure on their body, their retirement age would come down. Just think of people as human beings. They are people not slaves.
Most footballers retire at 35. The average person retires at 65, some even 70. What are you saying? Some pro footballers only play high-level football for 10 years, and they are set for life. Do you know when a construction worker retire? You don't make any sense at all. Most pros at high levels even on the bench make 1M a year on average just sitting on the bench. Please. I don't know if youare Rich but why should most broke people which is 78% of the human population live paycheck to paycheck care about them. Just don't get me started, that is just a little to show how easy they have it.
Unless people stop caring about money as much as they do the game will only continue to get worse. Having ur needs taken care of isn’t ever enough. Human nature and greed will always prevail. No matter the situation in life.
How about... the fault is with the clubs that do not actually rotate their squads? The problem isn't exactly that there are too many matches. For example, non successful club on a first division isn't really having all that many more matches. But if clubs want to go to all competitions and use that prize money, well, use it to add depth to the squad. Squads should be larger. That's all
That's not the primary issue. So you rotate, but still only have less than a month rest between league end and pre-season start. You are still left with the same problem. Football isn't run like Basketball with infinite subbing, if fans are okay if their coaches don't use their strongest squads to win league games but the at the end of the season complain about bad players and league positions it'll be for nought. When top coaches use u21's in cup games "they're disrespecting the cups", when they use youth players in the league and they don't do well their booed by their own fans. The leagues have somehow gotten longer with international football, with less spacing between league games to cups. The best approach to me is moving international football to their own months instead of 1-2 weeks every 2 months and play qualifiers in less clusters so early we know who qualifies then move into the international comps. Do half these leagues need a 2nd cup, probably not. The League cup no longer has it's original purpose in England as the additional prize money but no sponsor can generate the earnings enough for any club that could win the cup. Instead bolster the FA cup and consider if we want the cups to be splatter across the club football calendar or have more concentrated phases like back to back rounds played within a month. We need concentrated phases then we have more rest days for the players.
I would add that the league governing bodies also impose harsh punishments on player spending. I agree it’s impossible to rotate players in such a dense schedule. If something can be done to allow clubs to have more players without breaching FFP rules, a bigger squad would give clubs that play multiple competitions flexibility to compete and perhaps not sacrifice their play quality. I know that might seem unfair to smaller clubs who don’t have the buying power but perhaps a model like allowing bigger clubs to spend more only on those seasons where they compete in multiple competitions? To maybe be a bit more fair, cap the number of games a player can play per competition. Just thinking out loud here but far from any concrete ideas to make this situation better for players.
UEFA ,FIFA and the clubs want to make money and the reason is simple even clubs like City are in huge debt to their owners and 'advertisers' and there is no way to repay the huge investments with out squeezing players energy and fans money in every possible way.
If players want more money, then they need to play more That is how it is but yet these players complain like they earn nothing from it while just earning millions from staying at holiday Fifa isn’t being smart however and they can’t find any other way of slowly improving the club world club, 16 teams would’ve been better but they think we watch it like a delicacy.
Elite sports are never healthy.. you’ve crossed beyond that point. Many American football players accept the fact, that they probably have brain damage at the end of their career in order to secure a bag and a career. But it seems now in football, they’re determined to break their bodies completely in their mid 20s. However I think football will adapt. Instead of having a start 11, you’d have bigger squads to accommodate it… that means that football becomes deluded and decreased quality. You’d rarely have the best 11 against a best 11 again. More football, less quality.
The problem with humans, they think money replaces reality. I tell you to try and play at the level he plays at and remain as fit and see whether you prefer your job or his.
