I just bought this one a couple of weeks ago, and just took a camping to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington, where Mount Saint Helens is located, and it was fantastic. It was a great chopper, it split wood really well, it held an edge like no one's business. It felt really well-balanced.
The only change I made, which I make to all my G10 handles, is to use a Dremel to put in a rocky road texturing that allows a much better grip.
DC53 is a really great steel. About as good as you can get while still being sharpenable in the field.

It's a TANK of a knife! Very well built and tough as nails. Made of pretty decent materials at a really good price. Win win win!!! It's a good knife! Great video too...

Im absolutely loving this knife. Perfect all rounder without being too heavy for belt carry. Big enough for wood processing while still being pretty agile. Great soldiers knife imo.

From what ive been told DC53 was developed in Japan to address the toughness issue of D2. Apparently it has the same corrosion resistance, edge retention but increases toughness by around 70%.

Thank you for sharing this video. The knife looks interesting, and the tip test is pleasantly surprising for such a thin tip. Cold Steel SRK made of SK-5 steel does not pass this test.
I recently bought an Eafengrow EF-131 and I am impressed with the quality of the knife and sheath. The first thing I did was to wash the knife and the sheath from any remaining anti-corrosion oil. It's nice that Eafengrow protects the knives during transport in this way. The second thing is to remove the micarta handles, clean everything, round the handguard and thumb ramp with sandpaper (sharp edges). Then I secured the handle screws with Loctite.

I’m still glad I have the 131. Good and fair tip test. I’m going to give it a blast through winter/firewood season instead of my Condor bushman parang and see how it fares. Thanks for the video.

Oh wow ! Yeah this one looks freaking cool and comfortable.
90° spines are getting old , I personally think it's not a necessary thing for outdoor knives. Also leave the 90° for the user to decide on cause a nice rounded spine is actually awesome.
DC53 surprised me too, it came out of nowhere all the sudden. I have a Brother blade that holds up great and my wife uses it in the kitchen , which is torcher too a knife in my home 😂.

Great Steel---DC53(Daido) - Quite tough steel, with as per manufacturer, almost twice the toughness, better wear resistance, and smaller carbide size compared to D2 steel, capable of 62-64HRC working hardness. Very similar with Bohler-Uddeholm Sleipner steel, with slightly more Carbon, and less Mo and V.

Oh, you evil evil man ;) I made a promise back in December that I was not going to buy any more knives. Well I may have to break that promise. Not for the one your showing, but for the Eafengrow EF134. The shorter blade. Since I do not chop or split wood with a knife. I do prefer a shorter blade. And yes that price is well, I hope it's as good as yours. Stay sharp.

Edit: I mentioned this is a heavy duty work knife. My little knife is an Oerla cleaver. Its 420HC and is my go to for anything that doesnt require a big blade. Its a crazy tough knife

Got this one (ef128) in April. Took it out camping twice before one of the rivets fell out and was lost, and the other 2 became so loose i can not use the knife without them falling out as well... haven't the Chinese invented locktight yet? Regardless, it's pretty good, but give i wouldn't recommend it to a friend without telling them that they'll need to fix the rivets or they'll lose the handle on it...and then tell them to get a knife that's handle scales won't fall off hah.

Green handle is my Fav.....NOT.....🤣🤣🤣🤣.....Yep, nice knife as my type of blade shape....Who cares about the 90 degree spine as that is an easy fix if needed to be and if desperate just use the very rear of the blade by the choil for striking a ferro rod....Nice knife.....Good stuff....
