DC-53 is a general purpose, cold work die and mold steel that also provides excellent strength and toughness that approaches those of high-speed steels. DC53, is an improvement over alloy tool steel D-2. It eliminates the disadvantages of insufficient hardness and toughness that are a result of high-temperature tempering found with D-2. DC-53 is typically chosen as a replacement for D-2 in use for general purpose and precision dies. DC-53 is noted for causing less tool wear and machining times that are faster than D2 Tool Steel.
I have several Eafengrow knives and have yet to be disappointed! Good knives, GOOD REVIEW!!! And yeah, Gruggs beats the HELL out of those knives, and they pull thru with flying colors!
I’ve bought a few knives from EF. I won’t spend several hundred dollars on any particular knife company for one knife that would not be in use for several months. EF puts out incredible value and an incredible product to boast. I really like my Moraknivs and I have some cold steel. Just bought a BPS knife ($40) and it’s pretty good. I believe any fixed blade over a hundred bucks is just expendable income wasted on diminishing returns. Good day, god bless, and stay sharp gentlemen!
This shows that some American knife companies should reflect on this. In the face of the high cost performance of Chinese knives, American companies lazily hide behind the "Made in the USA" label because everyone thinks that means it's good. If I pay an "American" premium, then I want "American" quality to match.
To be fair, most pricey American made knives ARE great. L.T. Wright, Winkler Knives, Buck, Off Grid, Dozier and his legendary custom D2 offerings ,etc.
Sadly China is providing better value than American manufacturing and competitive quality People need things to be quality and affordable,American companies are price gouging people while guilt marketing like it’s patriotic to over pay for stuff American companies over charging is putting American manufacturing out of business slowly and they deserve it frankly If American manufacturing gave a shit about Americans they would be trying to be competitive in quality and value instead they price gouge on the back of patriotism and their stuff isn’t significantly better than foreign stuff
I think you are failing to realize that China subsidizes its manufacturing with the express reason to squeeze out American manufacturers by making it impossible to compete financially. This is putting American companies to make tough decisions that the Chinese don’t need to make. If you keep this up there will be no American knife industry.
Just picked up the ef128 and ef144... both look amazing, but the handle scales worked their way loose on the 128 just with light light use. So far, they both perform well...not going to abuse them like some other reviews do, so I can't imagine them ever failing.
Yep I'm loving it! Mine was sharp out of the box, heck alot better than the Ontario I bought! Look foward to your next one. I will be getting the tanto model, for sure! Have a great day, Steve
Hey man, when someone like YOU says "this is the sharpest knife out of the box that I have ever received", I listen! Bro, it's not just your knife, this thing is SHARP, right out of the box!!! Did the same paper towel and tp roll cuts and, flawless!!! So I can also safely say, this is the "sharpest" out of the box knife that I, have ever gotten too!!! Had to share that with you...
PETER! I am surprised you didn't know about Eafengrow. I got about 5 folders and 1 of their fixed blades. Great to have on your side or pocket and nice to your pockets too. 💯👍
@@peterbiltknifeguy of course, I should have known. Well I am still surprised this is your first one. I have the EF 132. Easy top 5 of my fixed blades. I am gonna grab the pair of Micarta handles. They look comfortable.💯
I was looking through the Eafengrow store. Looks like a great place to get Christmas presents for the ‘knife guys’ in your circle. At least the ones who don’t mind where it’s made.
Lol. Yea. Honestly I would be stoked to receive one. You have to balance out the cost, materials and craftsmanship vs where it’s made anymore. It’s sad
Best knives I ever owned are my 2 CRKT M16 pocket knives and my Schrade 36 survival knife. I use these knives for everything. I threw out my kitchen knives and use my main 3 knives. That Schrade will slice frozen chicken like butter. It could cut or hack bones if I ever need it to. I might get the knife features in this vid and some Mora knives for steak knives. Those Mora knives would be perfect for steak knives. I used to have a Mora knife and it was insanely sharp. Kitchen knives just get outperformed by real knives. I found this out. If your survival knife is sharp, it will smoke your kitchen knife.
And to me a knife is just a sharp piece of metal but they're cool and I like them. It's not rocket science. My CRKT M16s are just as good if not better than expensive knives. They will stab into a skull like butter. Razor sharp and sturdy.
Hey....Beautiful knife that i bought several weeks but i can't test it again ! DC 53 will be amélioration to D2...best.... It is my tactical knife and survie....i love it ! Good job for you vidéo and BIG KISS TO FRANCE ❤❤❤
That's a real nice practical design. The handles look great too but I wish they were a bit longer. Eafengrow would improve greatly if they made handles to fit the hands of big American fellas.
@@peterbiltknifeguy Eafengrow does a lot of things right. Hope they address the handle issue because I want them to succeed. We need companies that offer this kind of value for blades.
I own one of these, and there's a bit taken out of the tang to balance the weight of the knife (between the two screw holes), so there is some skeletonization going on with the knife.
I got the one with the satin tanto blade. Guess I just got sick of all black but either one is very nice. It's still a beast. 👍. Btw I did a little research on this steel and they say it can be heat treated harder than D2 but at the same time it's easier to sharpen which is amazing
😅Great blade. Just got one. It arrived out of the box very sharp feels good in the hand good thick blade but I do wish the handle was at least a half inch longer but other than that I have no complaints I'm going to enjoy this blade and probably will look to this company and see what other blades they offer and I will buy some more of their products
I just got the 134 tanto today and the 128 last week. I'm gonna take the scales off and grind the nub down so my pinkie fits better on my 134, the 128 is thinnish but longer.
