it is a good knife I have one no way you can beat this knife for 20 dollars 20 dollars will not even buy you a good lunch these days. this knife you will be passing down to the grandkids it is a very well made knife it is d2 so it is a must to take care of it and keep it clean or you may get some rust just make sure to keep it dry and lite oil after using it. I got mine on amazon with the g10 handles love it.
The boys that do chopping competitions use a front lanyard. You put your hand in through the top. If is slips out of your hand it pretty much stays put. You do the same with a rear lanyard and that knife goes any where it wants to. Try it out.
Great review. I got one and luv it. RAZOR sharp blade. 90° spine. No rust spots like yours. Luv the heavy heft and blade thickness. Yes, the leather seems like a nice woman's purse. It is a notch above my 2 BPS knives and they are excellent for the price. I would pronounce it " F is ah" rather than "Fleesah" like you do. Thanks.
This cought my eye on Amazon. I thought that it looked like the Mora Garberg. Looks pretty good and at a pretty good price. At 20 bucks it definitely seems like like a high value budget item... pretty cool
Good base for customization by oneselve. I used to set up and play some musical instruments some years ago too. Thanks for the tip. Greetings from Poland.
I just bought one of these with the the g10, Absolutely worth every penny I heard the second lanyard hole is there so it can be lashed and used as a spear tip.
@tomsreviews238 Thanks, I've heard a couple of possible reasons, including a second, forward lanyard as well as the spear idea. I guess all are valid reasons, it just seemed kinda odd to me. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I reviewed the green one last week. it's a very good scandi grind , much better than some bigger brands I've had. After making my vid I realized the "secondary bevel" wasn't a polished micro edge. I took it to a loaded green compound strop and it came off. It was a wire burr, it was so stinking sharp and the steel is really hard you couldnt tell. Now its amazing. I've had just about every popular bushcraft scandi under $100 and I can say this knife, is one of the best I've used. The grind is very dialed in, and it just slices through wood with ease. I think it's probably the best budget Bushcraft knife on the market. The next best deal that I can compare it to is my Enzo Elver, which DLT has for $49 as a kit. It's in 12C27n stainless sandvic steel and is a beautiful little puukko style knife. I know the BPS knives are in that same price range with good sheaths, but in regards to the steel and edge quality, it's not comparable IMHO. As you pointed out that coating on the sheath is weird but ...$20🤷♂️who can complain 😉
This is so weird...this 4 week old comment just now came up in my notifications. RUclips is having some really weird stuff going on esp with comments being held for "review". Thanks brother !
Some people don't trust the rear lanyard hoops for safety due to the knife swinging backwards and stabbing them in the leg. A hoop on the front doesn't allow the blade as much travel if you lose your grip. Screwed in scales are nice as you can tighten them if they come loose during batoning... Which might be risky if that D2 is brittle from such a high HRC. Looks like a good investment if you prefer edge holding capability over ease of sharpening (as in the mora or BPS).
I have bought 3 of these. I got one, made a sheath for it, and my dad saw and used it and had to have one. I bought him one and another buddy of mine really wanted mine so I sold it to him and had to buy another one for me 😂 all 3 have been quality, stupid sharp knives.
That is a remarkably good knife for the price and I have never heard of it ,I certainly hope I can find one ,and you are a great find too and I look forward to more of your work . Thank you .
Bonded leather, also known as reconstituted, blended, or composition leather, is a manufactured upholstery material that's made from leftover animal hide scraps. It's coated to look like genuine leather, but it's not as durable and usually contains only 10-20% real leather. It's not a condor sheath (budget knives with true leather sheath), but well made overall. The strap firmly holds the knife & has a nice design. For a scandi grind knife it's a brute with a sharp 90⁰ spine. A little file work along the scales & tang & it turns out beautiful. Well worth $20.
I can't watch your whole video. I'm going straight to Amazon. This is a really nice looking knife. I like the handle shape and that is my favorite blade shape.
Sounds very good. But for the price, I’d go for a Mora Companion. Softer metal, sure. But much less likely to chip or break, and it can be more easily sharpened when exploring the bush. But that’s just my preference.
That front lanyard comes from the blade sport knives. The front lanyard is really nice when you try it. Im not convinced you need a lanyard on a knife that size. But as im getting older and i see friends and family with hand weakness i guess it can be very helpful. Thats just my opinion take it for what its worth.
@@workbenchknifeandtool it came and it’s amazing solid in my hand and I have huge hands has a tiny rust spot in just about the same spot as yours has something to do with manufacturing no shipping. But looks and does just what I need it so far and I’ll be beating this thing hard this year.
You could attach a small piece of paracord or bank line to both the front and back lanyard holes to make a handle for it. Kind of like a D guard on a Bowie knife 🔪.
Nice knife I like it. My mom used to have a cooking knife with handles like that. It was a good knife. Thumbs up to your videos. Btw, I think I'd like the blade to be that thick even thicker. Was that knife made in the USA?
A D2 Scandi??? You want a scandi grind, with its zero degree edge angle, in a softer steel that will roll under stress, and quickly re-strop. Having such a thin edge angle of D2 steel, on the other hand, will produce a bunch of microchips with hard use. I wouldn't chop or baton with it, and, only buy it if you are good at sharpening and reprofiling your blades.
Its a $20 knife with D2 steel and you are going to complain about the sheath ? You need to set your expectations appropriately with the price point of this knife!
I found from China.. D2 is just a label sometimes. Not a true identification of the blade steel. Have to test it. The front lanyard hole also is for making a small "thump loop". Helps hold the knife in the hand. It's probably a copy of another designer. That is why there is no name. Hard to link it. China seems to be stealing and reverse engineering other people's designs. Benchmade is having a huge clone issue, as well as Microtech.

I bought G10 handled version. Sharpened it on an 5000 grit wet stone, and by far the sharpest $20 knife i have.
It is pretty amazing, especially considering the price. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This thing destroys the benchmade
It really is good, especially for the price!
Damn straight!
I hope so 😂 great to see the world Tour of my Knife Design 😅
The Benchmade sucks compared to this blade

Very sharp spine too and two lanyard holes give a more secure grip.

@@richardkev3077 hard to argue against a Mora Companion!
So you can make a cool spear
Nailed it!
With 2 holes you could attach to a stick very robustly making a spear. And we all need a spear right? :^)
This is a great knife and the only one I’ve ever recieved Shave sharp out of the box
Definitely hair popping out of the box, even with a small burr.great budget knife.
I’m curious why there is a small drill hole in the handle up by the top of the blade.
It is an extra lanyard hole as I understand it, but I really don't know what it is for.

That's how I've seen it used. Seems like a hassle to have all that cord in the way!
Great Star also makes some Civivi and Kershaw models as far as I've heard, as well as the new Swiss Tech knives at Walmart are made by them as well

@@thomastommy1192 it is not made in the USA. It is made in China. I decided to buy it because of the D2 steel, the design and the price.

i bet the second hole is for fixturing the blade during manufacturing.
I bet they are for affixing it to a rod for hunting???

So far, the steel in my knife has performed just as I would expect from D2, which is to say it is great.
