Thank you for pointing out again that art is PERSONAL. Before one criticizes they should remember that the artist SHOULD be reflected in a painting and if an artist has a large following it means that the work of that artist appeals to many! We are all individuals and there is no one right way for self expression, thank goodness! I absolutely love your work because it is appealing to ME. Plus…you are just so much fun to watch ☀️🌈❤️ your work is fabulous!
ps. i learn soo much from you. you can't please all of the people all of the time. most of the time it is the limited amount of people who can accomplish the few outstanding works that are most appreciated. but you are a teacher at heart so you want to encourage and inspire everyone. those who are willing to be taught, are. some just have different goals, that is not a failure on your part, but usually a loss on theirs.
What a fun tutorial. I wish painting loosely didn’t stress me out because I love the look at the end . Lol But I always learn something from you and you’re fun to watch! Thank you!
So glad to hear you found a way to deal with the negatives! You are better than that ;) Happy to hear you have a new puppy too. You should post a picture!!
Oh, I love how you painted this! I like how you used so many colors and it still looks so refreshing and pleasing to the eye. You don't need throw away the water bucket. If you want, just give it a cleanup, then spray paint it and put a coat on it. It will be like new.
Your painting has such a calming feeling! It brings back memories of visiting with someone in the summer and sitting with a refreshing glass of lemonade! It is a lovely painting! You certainly have a gift! Thank you so much.
Hey Lindsay! Ordinarily I don't have the patience for longer yt videos, but I really really enjoyed this one! Felt like I was sitting beside you, making jokes about "pith," ("...pith on you...") dumb jokes like this in my head. LOL This was a wonderfully refreshing painting that was enjoyable & you did a terrific job with the composition. I printed one out for me as well, for the weekend. The splashes you added were perfect, the smooshing of the splashes equally perfect. I'm not familiar with Sennelier paints, have 1 or 2 tubes, so this part was nice. And I'm curious: aren't you a south paw? If I'm right, you deserve extra applause for using your right hand! Woo hoo! I'd like to learn a LOT more about painting glass, shadows, highlights. They continue to elude me. Anyway, I'm from RI, so from one New Englander to another, thank you tons for your generosity on yt, & in particular, this video. I'm seeing tons of popsicles, lemons, peaches, sunflowers, flamingos, etc. Seems like every artist on yt had a meeting (over your pink lemonade of course) as to a schedule. I'm still new to watercolor, & try to glean as much as I can from generous artists like you, so thank you for the gifts! Happy rest of summer! Fanna Turano Denver, CO
I love that you are enjoying yourself so much! You are so fun to watch -but I must get my watercolors out and do some more painting! I signed up for your watercolor flower class and I keep putting it off because I feel like I need a big chunk of time - so foolish because I love to watch you paint. I need to treat it like I do your channel and just watch even if I don't have time to paint that day! I'm sure I'll get inspired to set aside some time and pull out the paints. Thank you so much for sharing your talents. Now I want a big sip of that lemonade!
Beautiful, I have the same water colour set, I have some pink lemonade in the fridge, think I will get me a glass, thanks for your time and teaching us.😆💜
Hey there Lindsay, you sound happy and that makes me happy. You have much more for you than against you, so never lose your joy. Take care and God bless. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Thoroughly enjoyed this painting Lindsay, I could do with some new watercolours so I think I might just invest in this set and that white was quite impressive. Thankyou so much for sharing, stay safe xx
Thank you Lindsay!!! I feel as if you took my suggestion and ran with it. I also enjoy when you do paint 🎨 splatters. I feel as if that is a signature of word, but I did like when you went back in after the paint dried some. It was easier for me to see what you were talking about applying the principle idea. Then applying to your own work. Plus I like sticking around for the entire video. I find it funny on days that your work may not be going the way you like, then you use the word Hot Mess. Then I am asking myself, what will the finish product look like? Since I have learned that is what you have to like personally. I also think that applies to other aspects of life. So thanks again for showing us that in practice. STILL I WAS GLAD TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY FOR YOU! 😊
I loved this!! I like watching you paint and talking through what you’re doing. I’m definitely going to try to practice more. I think it’s beginning to sink in to my brain that the key to watercolor is layering. I’m so used to acrylics (and I’ve mostly used it for nail art so it was a tiny canvas) and I think I need to embrace the feathering out of color and not be so freaked out about it. I definitely need to look back through your videos and watch more of your watercolor tutorials! Thank you for sharing!! Oh, and I was glad you used the white! I had been curious about that!! 💜
Hi Lindsey, i have a great idea. I noticed you recommend to use a limited palette. How about a video using alot of colors VS a limited palette????? I love it.
This was a fun project. I'll have to paint it later. I'm doing a portrait of my cat right now, so while I wait for paint to dry, I watch you. Nice to see you having fun.
Your painting is looking lovely, as always.🙂...and, I have to say after watching your "chattering bird tutorial"...loved it, by the way...such wonderful and 🙂personalities... those three birds...your very charming personality comes shining thru.🦋🙂🍋🍓🍋🙂
Thanks Lindsay. Wow that white is impressive. The set is lovely. I'm a layerer, I don't think that's a word. Well it is now.😜 Going to have to start leaving notes around in case anyone in the family wants to get me a Christmas gift. Ha. Really like the movement in this piece. I always mess up those backgrounds. One day I'll not over work it. Thanks again.👍🤩💜
Love the colors such a fun and colorful and cheerful and inspiring painting!!! I like the color balance and harmony here!!! I really enjoy your channel and your painting! You are very talented and I’m grateful you share that with us!
Hi loved having the freedom to just enjoy painting this one. I used the metalic white paint I had for highlights which really accented the frostiness.thanks!
Hi Lindsay 👋 loved your watercolor painting it looked so cooling 😎 and refreshing loved the colours in the background thanks for sharing have a nice week Lin in South Wales uk 🦋 💞
I just love my Petite Aquarelle! And I bought it after a video where you showed all your watercolor paint boxes with short reviews. I'm building my first big palette across multiple brands. I'm looking for a good burnt sienna from PBr7. The Sennelier doesn't have a strong enough tinting strength. The Turner one is kinda chalky. I'd prefer an affordable tube, and I'm open for suggestions. I prefer luminous glazing paints, but I don't want to use a 4:1 ratio of burnt sienna to ultramarine blue to get a balanced gray. I got thirsty watching this, so I'm headed to the fridge.
You are so right about techniques Lindsay, I love learning other people’s techniques as I now have the ability to mix different techniques together on a project and they generally come out amazing. I remember when I just used one technique I felt limited to what I could achieve and now I can achieve so much more. Lindsay got a question for you. My mother in law has got some watercolour pencils that she has had for over 20 years now and you can’t sharpen them as 1 the tip breaks off all the time and 2 the wood is so badly dried out. Is there an easy fix for that? I used a knife to sharpen them for her but I really would love to be able to sharpen them with a sharpener so she can do it. She has dementia so don’t trust her with a knife.
I also have those really bad giveaway pencils that break when you try to sharpen them. But we have these sharpeners that have different sizes..i choose the fattest/biggest one that doesn't lengthen the wood and sharpens just the tip... XD But would want to try that resetting the core with heat technique
Boohoo, we don't have an AC MOORE store here in Kentucky and I haven't seen the Menta brushes anywhere:( Have you done a comparison video of these Sennelier and the artist grade watercolor? I have this set and was wondering if I should invest in the artist grade or not. Thanks & I love your work as always!
I do, search sennelier watercolor review on my channel, I do a direct comparison. Personally I'd stick with these and as you run out if a color purchase a tube of artist grade. Jerry's artarama have great per tube prices for when you need to refill. You can also add colors in half pans down the middle If you want to try more colors.
I left a comment then forgot all of it. You had mentioned Royal langnickel brushes. Sometimes they can be found at Tuesday Morning stores for good prices.
Such a fun painting. I have a question about paper. You mentioned that the paper used in this tutorial stays wet a long time. In your experience is there a more affordable paper that stays wet a long time. I have a terrible time painting quickly enough to not have my paper dry before I can achieve what needs doing. I have several brands and they dry at different speeds but they all dry quickly including Arches.
Do you use ARCHES watercolor paper? I ask because I saw two videos about , how paper matters. I'm new and just want to have fun with water coloring, but want to be happy with my work.
I found one of my young cats dead two years ago. The night before I thought how fabulous she was looking ( she had a heart condition). And there she was. So I understand the heartbreak. The price we pay for joy
“Let’s see, what blue shall we use.” SURPRISE, ultramarine, lol! And lost? I can get lost just driving home! Weird, that. Aside from being funny, I have a question: Ultramarine and cobalt are very similar. When do you know, or I should say, what makes you decide to use one or the other? I was looking through my paintings today and, no joke, I literally have painted over 30 of your tutorials. My walls are a Lindsay homage, lol ☺️ Today I’m going to paint this. I’m sorry about Hazel. My doxie is my best friend, I can’t even imagine loosing him. I’m not sure I’ll recover when the time comes. Good for you, Lindsay. Enjoy your new puppy.
Thanks Christina:) I choose Ultramarine over cobalt because cobalt is weaker, more expensive and slightly toxic (and my cats like to steal a nip of my paint water from time to time!)
My cat will choose my paint water over her own water and the dogs water bowl. I bet if I had a freshwater spring running through my living room, she would still choose my paint water. 🤷♀️
Wow Lindsay, I can feel your joy in this beautiful loose painting. It’s so fun and gorgeous.
I wish I could make this in 20 minutes❤ can't wait to see your puppy
there is a photo on my community tab I think and on my blog:)

There are many shorter flower demos in the course if you just have a few minutes and it's fine to go out of order in that class:)
So very lovely and fun! Thank you!❤
❤️this tutorial! I’m particularly drawn to loose painting techniques, but have a difficult time keeping it loose. Your videos are wonderful!

I would try plagingvrhen under a heating pad for 20 minutes to try and resent the cores and let cool and then sharpen them and see if they are better.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thank you, will give that a go 🙂❤️❤️❤️
I also have those really bad giveaway pencils that break when you try to sharpen them. But we have these sharpeners that have different sizes..i choose the fattest/biggest one that doesn't lengthen the wood and sharpens just the tip... XD
