The F/A-18C Hornet seems to be having an issue with CCIP mode and dropping unguided weapons as of June 2022. This is a workaround to get the accuracy back in CCIP mode to hit targets more accurately. Let me know in the comments if it helped you out!

GPS is more accurate than ins. I remember the ins on tomcats required them to add in various errors in order to navigate properly. It’s why the navy chose the hornet in the first place. I don’t know why they would use ins for anything other than a backup system. Just saying

But INS/GPS for navigation should have nothing to do with a CCIP reticle accurately showing where an unguided bomb-drop should land.
Dude thank you so much. I was getting comfortable doing ground strafing then recently it felt like no matter which ammo ccip reticle i was using, my rounds were going long/shot ar if i were using the wrong ammo setting. I thought i was going mad. Cheers!
I hear you mate!!!! I had just accepted the fact that dumb bombing and strafing was out for the hornet until it got fixed so was super happy when I heard about this workaround.
That helped a lot. I was getting mad on gun-strafe, because I was unable to hit anything. All ground-targets will hate you for that ;)
Save myself 11:30 HSI -> POS/INS -> POS/GPS
I forget to switch the POS/GPS all too often. Today, I remembered to do it in Inherent Resolve Mission #4 and all my Mk83s hit what I was aiming at. Thanks.

Just noticed in the latest patch the CCIP air to ground pipper is way off again, bullets hit way above the target even if using GPS and RDR altimeter on. Doesn't matter which bullet ballistics are set either. This is testing in the free flight instant action mission.

I have switched to GPS mode and accuracy STILL sucks. Strafing isn’t great either. Always way over the top of the target.

Cant wait to try this out! Personally haven’t had much issue with dumb bombing but strafing runs have been hell, I’ve been having to see if they’re falling short / long (usually they’re long in my experience) and I can only go directly with or against the wind.
CCIP should account for the wind, I think? Not sure, heard it somewhere.
Not sure if it accounts for the wind but it should def be more accurate with that workaround... just did some CCIP bombing on a multiplayer server and it worked a treat
Glad I found this video, had always been a pain in my side. Wonder if the accuracy of the POS/INS has to do with the quality of your INS precision at your start up? Assuming you are starting from a cold start. (Also assuming there hasn't been a patch since this video was put out). Either way, looking like my misses are my own 😃
That is realy a new information for me. I tried multiple times and was wondering how I miss all targets 90% of the time.

Man I have been struggling with this bug for a while very frustrating cuz I love my bombings dives. Never knew about this fix thank you very much!!!

What was the bug??
I think there's no magic. The reason why you have managed to destroy 3 tanks is not that HSI setting, but the dive angle 🙂 Just double-check this, you had steeper dive angle (like 35 deg) every successful run. And you didn't manage to destroy 1 tank after changing the HSI setting just because your dive was not that steep as in previous runs.
There is something really weird going on more or less at least with f-18 and f-16 ground levels. Just trialed, and even learned F-16 and it was FULL of weirdmobs, all correlating somehow to ground. (I mean things that I thought I just cant do, but then noticed that about 2.7->2.8.x there has been big explosion in ag stuff :P Fly littlebit of f-16 TGT pod stuff NOW, and (mavericks, not to mention fuses that doesnt work at all, in smartbombs, more or less in every), and you will run back to hornet, even with broken ccip pipper :D Good thing there is trials though. I was about to buy that thing, but was so full of NEW bugs that well see about that again in six months.. Not paying 70 bucks just to cry with every wpn. And most crying with mavs, which i already hate after buggin in hornet, which now though seems to work most of the times. (outcluding atflir + movingtargets IR locking...) (mavs..)(sry for littlebit offtopic with f-16, but watchng this made me really wonder, that there has to be something weird going on with the ground.). Maby in next patch I can finally run trough it and not explode!!
So was this still bug or not, now im hugging my hornet and will never let go... F-16 ag tutorials, with buggy plane gave me somekind of ptsd, least... Though, now I have thumbled em inside out so i will be a f-16 AG Jedi master, when they will work.
Sounds like you are still setting your INS to NAV after alignment. Make sure it is on IFA instead. NAV is for the old Navigation system, which was used before GPS. GPS system uses IFA.
This scenario for the video was an air start mate, I do use IFA when cold starting 👍🏻
@@TorniQuetHD So I tested this out and the results were interesting. I have just came back to the hornet after a long time away, before the IFA did not work. So I did a few dive bomb test and sure enough was missing the targets, almost every time. That was very unusual for me, I have around 4000 hours in a Stuka in various games. I am usually very accurate with dive bombing runs. I then switched it to GPS like you said and I started hitting targets again. I decided to test out the alignment feature at startup. First test was AutoStart. It put the INS in STD HDG and after alignment it moved the switch to NAV. I selected the GPS on HSI and the compass moved a couple degrees. I then did it again, this time I moved the knob to IFA, the compass still moved a couple degrees. Next test was a regular startup. I selected the STD HDG and set the knob to IFA. Again the compassed moved a couple degrees. Next I did a full alignment, no STD HDG, and knob to IFA. Hit GPS, again it moved a couple degrees. So there is something going on the alignment, no matter what you do. I did do a IFA alignment and a couple new options came up on the HSI, Land and SEA. I selected Land, it did a full alignment. This time when I selected the GPS, it did not move. I then did an airstart and when I hit the GPS, the compass did not move. So the manual says if you see the POS/AINS (Aided INS) displayed, INS and GPS work together for optimal navigation solution. So it sounds like it might be a bug.
Thanks for doing some more testing, hopefully ED can figure it out soon but in the meantime atleast this will be a workaround to allow you to still hit targets with CCIP bombing

nice video. you can also use de AGR radar mode so the hornet can better estimate the distance to the ground
I believe the AGR still doesn’t fix the CCIP inaccuracy bug unfortunately
Nice find. Curious what is your INS switch set to? NAV or IFA? Technically IFA should keep the INS up to date I thought being "in flight alignment"?
This was an air start so the switch is automatically in IFA. It is a known bug by ED so this is just a workaround for now until they sort it

Unsure mate, but the hornet is def broken at this stage so this is the workaround until they patch a fix for it

I'm not seeing POS/GPS or POS/AINS. I only see POS/INS and INS when I toggle.
You need to set the INS alignment switch after finished alignment to IFA position not to INS/GND nor NAV (right console in Cockpit)

Is this a bug for just the dumb bombs or are JDAMS and PAVEWAYS with the Lightning Pod botched by a few feet as well?
I haven’t had an issue with ATFLIR and precision munitions lately but it set was an issue a few patches ago for sure.
how do you make caucuas look so good? The fields look much more colorful and so does everything else, do you use the shader program people use for dcs?
It’s a posted video so it’s very possible to add post processing. If your visuals don’t pop try adjusting your monitor settings first? Try a vivid color profile? If you don’t care for color accuracy that content creators care about then pick whatever “looks best”.
I use reshade and other ppl do also makes it all just better
Time of day in the mission mainly mate, if you leave it a default in the mission time it looks very flat and boring. I do a bit of color correction but nothing major mate. All in the time of day
You can also use Mustang's Caucasus Texture mod to make it look significantly more vibrant and detailed. Look it up in the ED forums.
maps look completely different at sunset and sunrise, makes the game look spectacular, and definitely messing with the weather and clouds helps

Bombing fundamentals mate, always good to learn how to use all weapons it can carry. Sometimes a mission will have the guided munitions removed and you’ll have to dumb bomb targets

This is a workaround for a known bug int the hornet mate, it’s not realistic but it will do the job until they fix the problem 🤞🏻

It's a known bug that's been reported for awhile... The workaround is on the forums... That being said, TorniQuetHD did a great job explaining how to get'r done!
Only just found out about it the other day mate, figured if I had only just heard about it chances are a lot of others don’t know about it either.

With GPS, INS will become AINS. GPS will assist INS to correct errors. For now, the problem with CCIP is a bug.

Always use slammers to kill the Sam's radar then the rest is easy haha.
@@erfguuipo8084 learn how to take out SAM’s with every weapon, different techniques and tactics that will help you complete missions later on down the track. You’re not always going to have access to all of the Gucci gear, so need to have multiple ways to get the job done 💪🏻
