I never comment on RUclips videos but I just couldn’t pass it up on this one. Absolutely fantastic. Your tutorials have been instrumental in shallowing the DCS learning curve for me. I’m sure it’s a lot of work to film these videos, but I’d love more long-form videos. I’m certain you could make a video on extending the landing gear and I would learn something. You’re a great teacher, man.

I comment on every video I watch. Even if it's just to say thank you. The amount of time, effort and skill that some expend to make these tutorial videos deserve at LEAST that. So I am the anti-spectre. lol But I will agree with you on all points. DCS is not just a game. Pac Man is a game, Tetris is a game. Modern Warfare is a game. This is a sim. This is as close as we can get to real combat in the sense of the procedures. Real combat has that "death" thing that comes with it. If I die in DCS, I just go take a piss, refill my tea and reload the mission. But it gives us the flavor of what the real fighters must learn, and that is a powerful thing. Hell, for training I have my options set to immortal. I can hear the enemy missiles hitting my jet and am like "huh. Well, I am dead for sure. How did he get me?" and then I go rewatch from his point of view. That is also a powerful learning tool. See the BVR from his POV.

That serves to illustrate you don’t need to waffle, pregnant pause, comment ‘more in a later tut’ in order to produce a long tut on a small but complicated process and cover tactics to boot. There was so much detail and advice in this tutorial; no crap. Makes me grateful there are hoods out there that know what they are talking about and can impart their knowledge a simple chunk by chunk approach so that us novices can learn and hopefully improve our skill levels on this wonderful game. Very many thanks for sharing and shall revisit this as part of my learning curve when next in the cockpit.

I typically watch one of you videos then fly, rewatch the video then fly, rewatch the video and fly and then start any head scratching. Here is my head scratch... when using F/A-18 AIM-120C, my steering dot in HUD is seldom inside the target diamond (using v2.8 stable) on a locked target. I've seen some comments on-line about that being a bug, but they are old comments so I am guessing this is not a bug, but simply operator error. Any input as to why my steering dot is seldom inside the target diamond would be appreciated.

Really a great video. You have helped me out alot with learning how to operate the F-18. The only thing I would have like more is to see all of your joystick bindings when you talk about binding all the right ddi buttons. I have the Warthog Thrustmaster Throttle and Stick and it already had bindings set up for dcs. So when you start to show how your bindings are set up for the RWS/TWS button in the video I was very interested and wanted to see how you set up your other bindings like for the range and auto buttons on the ddi. Can you post or upload your joystick and throttle bindings so others can see what you have set up and compare them to their own.👃

Is there a reason you used RWS for the final demonstration against the tomcat, you used TWS against the previous Su 27.
I'm incredibly new to DCS but what I'm understanding about missile combat, and BVR is it TWS is king. Did you just essentially forget to swap to TWS? Or did it just not matter for your demonstration.
Edit: so I'm not a smart man and commented before finishing the video, you noticed your mistake and swapped to TWS. Cheers :)

do you ever use Undesignate/NWS button in TWS to bug the target without having to slew TDC over the marker? Also was kinda surprised to see RWS drop the lock, I thought once you had a lock from RWS it goes to STT and automatically follows the target.

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 года назад

Yeah for sure mate! Totally forgot about the NWS switch to cycle through contacts with the radar 🤦🏼‍♂️ and in RWS it goes to LTWS mode first press of TDC depress then you need to hit it again to switch it to an STT lock

    • @ClaptrapRapture

@@TorniQuetHD Aaah.. so is the reason it lost the lock in this video because you only hit TDC Designate once (thinking you were in TWS mode), which put it into LTWS, which didn't have Auto follow on? If you hit it again to get STT it'd auto follow, or you need to be in TWS and switch it to Auto once you have an L&S bugged?

Hello Torniquet, I dunno if you are finished with your great SU-25T beginner serie but it was great. Do you plan on redoing a bit of SU-25T? If so could you do a simple mission, or even the firt mission of the campaign, and take us through it while giving your thought process? This would be the best !!!

Hey mate, not finished with it… just a bit time poor atm so video production is slowed down a bit for now. I plan on going through all of the weapons and then do a mission with it in a multiplayer server eventually to cap it all off

How does the aircraft identify what jet is in front of you on your right display I’ve been struggling to get it on mine. I think it’s referred to as IFF.

    Fantastic tutorial
    The crank makes absolute sense
If possible could you help with a query
Attack radar is SOI in right MFD
If you SCS forward it changes the HUD symbology
    Same again with SCS aft
    I'm confused

Play solo because I've been learning for just over a week and still don't know anything. Sometimes can't drop a bomb because I've done some kind of setting and no clue how. I know barely anything about navigation, I can work the radar sometimes but when it gets hectic it's all over. All that and more. I figure it'll take a good few months before I can even look at a multiplayer server.

How do you do the view changes in the cockpit? Looks like a combination of track ir and a zoom key?

I must be doing something wrong but i don't pick up any contacts on the SA. I get the yellow triangle thingy, but the actual contact doesnt appear.... Does it mean i have put the wrong search altitude in the radar? Datalink is on; EW hud is on....

I think that is the RWR being transposed onto the radar mate. I just had my RWR turned on and datalink on and it works

Been awhile since I've flown the module, and out of town for work so can't double check. But can't you cycle between HSI and SA pages by pressing sensor select switch in direction of whichever display you have it on for a quick change.
