    It would appear that loft bombing will work best at standard temperature. It actually makes sense that in hot / cold conditions you'll go long / short as hot air is thinner and cold air is denser.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, the physics all make perfect sense, what doesn't is the fact we can't account for this in our auto solutions, hopefully we'l get the feature soon.

  • @CakePrincessCelestia
    @CakePrincessCelestia 6 лет назад

    I didn't know that the temperature actually has an effect on the ballistics, but that explains why most of my bombs tend to fall long (mostly plain 82s or 82SE in FF) since I did most of my test runs with the Hornet on the PG map with close-to-realistic temperatures, basically maxed out through the roof. Well, couldn't manage to set it above 40.something °C which is like 10 less than real for an Arabian summer (Caucasus allows for higher temps strangely). Thanks for pointing that out. Will revert that map to standard DCS 21°C then for the time being :D
    Another thing that got me though: By intense testing I've noticed that whatever you'll set your burst height for CBU-99/100 at, it's always 1500' in the end. Doesn't seem to work yet actually in the early access. but I might try testing that again, since my last tries were in either 19273 or 19641. Didn't see anything in the changelogs though.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад

      Colder the air is the denser it is, putting up more resistance, helicopters in particular get more lift in cold weather. There's quite a few things that slip through the change logs, even the aim-120b wasn't mentioned when it was added! My experience has been the lower the burst the more accurate it'l be suggesting the auto calculation isn't considering the change in ballistics when it bursts.

    Loft bombing + buddy lazing is one of the best things you can do in DCS. I can't wait until we can do that with hornets.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia 6 лет назад +1

      Would be great if the laser went more than 10nm though (well, light and physics, you know). That buddy still has to sit pretty much inside the danger zone or be a JTAC on the ground that hasn't been shot up yet.

  • @mrocklop
    @mrocklop 4 года назад

    Great video! One question: When lofting, I was always under the impression you want to release while pulling some g's when you pull the stick back to get maximum distance. In this tutorial, bombs are released while maintaining a steady climb, which i never found as effective when playing falcon f-16. Do you ever release while pulling up? its harder to time butt you can really trow those suckers.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  4 года назад +1

      The reason i do it here is we do not have the dedicated loft mode, which makes that timed pull up very difficult to get right, so i simplified the process to work around the in game limitations. I hope we'l get loft mode added sometime, but the focus is far more on radar at the moment.

  • @manizaeim
    @manizaeim 5 лет назад

    even with the perfect run i could not achieve loft bombing, exactly same parameter, did you switch to radar altimeter ? i switch to radar altimeter too, it is not accurate , not sure because of early access or my mistake! exactly, the best result achieve by 83, u r 100% percent right, the temp affect a lot as u mentioned

      I believe the loft function of the aim-7 is not functional just yet, it's used to increase the max range and improve pk on longer distance targets, you'd not use a loft when close to a bandit.

    It's incorrect I think. Loft mode is not within Auto mode. Proper Loft mode is separate mode which will be add later... This loft-ish is just shortcut and not actually proper Loft mode in F-18C IIRC

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад +1

      I wouldnt be surprised if there is a dedicated loft mode that we're missing. One that has loft start prompts and programming for release angle. The auto mode does support impromptu lofts though and is stated in the manual as supporting up to 45 deg lofts.

    • @LazzySeal
      @LazzySeal 6 лет назад

      RedKite auto mode does support loft but saying that LOFT is within Auto mode could be misleading, especially when real LOFT mode will be added and people will search for tutorials.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад

      Auto mode is how you loft for the time being, if a dedicated loft mode is added i'l be certain to cover it with a new tutorial.

    • @swinder3695
      @swinder3695 6 лет назад

      Lazzy Seal In the F/A-18C Tactical Pocket Guide there are references to a "AUTO LOFT" mode which would suggests that the Hornet has a Loft mode which is a submode of AUTO. This makes sense as the Loft mode in the AV-8B (which has similar avionics to the Hornet) is also a submode of AUTO.

    • @LazzySeal
      @LazzySeal 6 лет назад

      @@swinder3695 AUTO mode supports lofting up to 45 degrees. But still it is not "LOFT" which will be available later. LOFT has more settings and Lofting with auto mode is not LOFT mode per say. But RedKite already cleared that. He will do updated tutorial when LOFT will arrive and there will be no misunderstanding I hope. My concerns more about wording itself, because lets say in a year people will search tutorials and can be confused and will use lofting with AUTO instead of LOFT or will be puzzled, because there are a lot of people who watch YT tutorials but not really nerding inside tech docs. And title here clearly says LOFT so search will give them result for this video among others..
