My only 2 gripes...and I'd recommend mentioning are the following (both are weight related): 1) Once you go beyond a 2 batt stack, this thing becomes very easy to topple.over. The plastic base has plastic wheels and they suck! Please if going to larger stacks (3+ batts) ensure to set this up where you want it, lock the wheels and dont be moving it around. Ecoflow does sell a wall anchor but man these are too heavy. 2) The fact that these batteries are stacked and not locked in any way (basically by gravity and their weight) is slightly unerving. The batts are 100lbs + each. If the stack begins to topple, grt out of the way and prey bcs there is nothing keeping it together. Im actually putting together a wood base for each stack that allows for ventilation and more stability than the plastic bases. I also like your idea of the DC inverter trick. Can you elaborate more on that or maybe make a video? Thank you. I've shared your info with some friends and r new interested in getting solar. Hello and thank you. You can use what ever solar panels you want. Rigid or portable as long as you don’t go bed the PV input. You need to leave enough room as well. Like 130v if your limit is 150v The renogy portable are good. The new Ecoflow ones I’m doing a video on tomorrow are good. But portable are expensive but way lighter. The 3500 watt generator can only charge at 120v and 1800 watts max through the 120v inlet on the delta pro ultra. The ultra will come with a 120v cord.
Drinking Starbucks is not an investment! Thank you for your video. I appreciate the information. Question? Why do you have solar panels mounted on your garage wall?
@4:57 ground loop error when using transfer switch and charging at the same time? that seems to be a common use case for this setup, and it's how I have my Bluetti setup. Are you sure about that/can you explain more? If so it would rule out me ever upgrading from my bluetti ac300 to this...
@@johnnysweekends Hard to believe, IDK, but it did occur according to 2 electricians and a HVAC technician. EF said that it was a defective battery. It surged and smoke poured out of one of the units. One of the electricians said that a similar event happened when they were installing a EF Ultra unit in one of their customer's homes but that the damage was limited as they had not hooked it up to the home.
@@johnnysweekends I don't think so. It arrived well packaged. The electrician believed that it was feedback and that is what the EF technical support said at first. I believe that this is related to running the battery in parallel with the 50-amp bridge. It might be bad firmware. But regardless they system cause a massive surge with fried my HVAC ECU, thermostat, several appliances and ever outlet surge protector that was plugged in. The surge scorched my electrical panel's BUS bar too. I was lucky that the battery didn't catch fire as these lithium batteries can't be extinguished.
hello, are you from the USA, did you got tax credit for your battery and inverter purchase? I heard we can buy just the batteries to get tax credit (earlier, the purchase is supposed to have atleast one solar panel).. I already have 8.8kW solar panel system installed non my roof by Tesla. Instead of powerwall, I would like to buy this. Would the installation of the extra circuit breaker and reliance switch etc be covered as well?
The solar array should still be grounded for your own safety and others. That’s up to you. Some go right to there panel some do separate. So may want to consult an electrician for your setup
Most people no. Im not most people so I change setups and test constantly so for me yes! Needed. For most others it might be a good idea depending your setups and if you plan to move it or keep it as portable
Couple of things worth mentioning. If you're charging with 240v you cannot use the 120v outputs during that time according to EcoFlow. The DPU puts out radio interference even when not inverting or charging. The only way to make it stop is to unplug from the wall and turn the DPU off. This probably bothers amateur radio operators more than the general public. Finally ,there are far too many reports of major component failures in the Smart Home Panel 2 to recommend it at this point. Relays failing that cannot be replaced in the field, effectively causing power outages the unit is supposed to prevent.
@@unijabnx2000 I think both but it's a good question I'd love someone to test. The manual warns about it for the C19 input. I think that when using the SHP2 all the AC outputs are disabled. I'm not sure if they're disabled when using the Power In/Out port with a 240v generator.
My small solar system is never designed to pay for its self, even with energy price inflation and I hope it never needs to. It is to give me an energy option in time of grid failure. The latter for us in the UK suburban areas is very rare indeed. However these are the good times, and so many people in the world were living in them up to quiet recently, then suddenly war or other disaster came. I grow a lot of food in my garden and keep two freezers full with it. To loose a couple of freezers full of supermarket food is a real bummer, that's about money though. When you grew the food yourself its like loosing a wife or worse your dog.
Will the inverter work without a battery. Let’s say I plug a EV power source on the left side and then attach the unit to a 50 amp inlet that goes to an interlock on the main panel.
I had original 2x delta pro with using smart home panel. It is not able to handle 240v heat pump water heater and also having issue with 120v gas dryer (trip the shp relay). Do you think single dpu and shp2 can handle this ?
Any advice on how to find a solar installer to install panels on a roof for the DPU? I have contacted some installers in Austin TX and they just want to sell me a very expensive system.
That’s the only problem a lot of installers want to sell you everything so they make a decent margin. If they don’t then it’s not worth it to them. Why do a little job and make hardly anything verses do larger jobs and make more. So yea that’s the hardest part right now is finding a reputable person or company who wants to do it.
One way is find a place where they sell used solar panel and ask for installer that buying from them. Usually they can refer you to solar panel installer that willing to do the job.
Hi Jonny, I bought the Delta Pro altra, I have 5 batteries, and the system runs my whole house with a generator hookup. And not enough to run the furnace I tune every off on the house, and it still doesn't run the furnace that has 120v on a 20amp breaker. The furnace motor needs FLA 17.5/8.75 , 1 1/2 hp And the system shutdown 409 code. I tried a kick start on the motor, and it still didn't work. I called ecoflow today, and they said, If you do not hook up a smart home panel . You only get 15amps. When I was under the impression that the DPU delivered 30amps .but that not the case. ecoflow said 25amp only. And I don't have the equipment to check how to test output amps. But other videos say you get 30amps from the dpu right out of the inverter. So I'm a bit confused. Any ideas or suggestions. At this point, it looks like I have to go to 50amp hmmmmm. Thanks for your help
@brianschulze3689 you can also do the extension cord trick where you run a cord from a outlet of your house to the DPU….. BUT……… Both the tabs power and neutral need to be cut off. So only the lower ground pin is left and that acts as a ground wire or bond to the house. But the bonding plug typically does the trick. Just remember no AC charging DPU while bonding plug is in

Again thanks for an excellent review has always you do a great job. I’ve been trying many configurations and it is a great unit The big let down is that there is no way to have any auto start generator with this unit while connected to the Smart Home panel. It is a big disappointment for me Specially that all other unit can accomplish that. Delta max delta pro etc. One thing that’s very important that you may want to let your viewers know is that if the DOU is connected to the Smart Home panel? You cannot use the 120 v inlet and use it 240 outlet at the same time. It will damage the DPU. I was hoping to get this configuration working so when my batteries are low, I could just activate a automatic switch from the 120 outlet but if the unit is connected to the DPU again, it will damage it and there is no way to have any automation having a generator starting at automatic which is a big letdown. Yes i got the idea of using solar input which I did with a smps or can do with eg4charger. But it still a manual action.
@ sure would be nice in the meantime since you have many viewers, you may want to add a note that do not connect the 120 input to try to charge a while using 240 and being connected to the SHP because it will damage the power supply inside the DPU.
Also, that was an answer that a technician mentioned to me from EcoFlow because I was asking him the question how was I able to charge the unit while being connected connected to SHP
How confident are you that tariffs if they happen will significantly increase these ecoflows? I wasn't sure how much of ecoflows materials/manufacturing is done statewide. This would factor into my reasoning to expand my DPU system with BF deals.
Well they are supposed to make any solar panels and batteries cost more into 2025. Biden admin passed this a few months ago so will see if it still goes through or something changes but they were saying 30% average
@johnnysweekends yeah pretty sure tariffs cost will roll over to us consumers. So u thinking 30% huh, ok so i guess i will look closer into upgrading my system because if prices will increase 30%. Then effectively prices would be 60% more if you include the 30% IRA tax credit possibly going away coupled with the tariffs inflation of 30%.
@@johnnysweekendsi have just some chest freezer, refrigerators, and led home lighting run with my DPU + 2 BATTERY with SHP2. Currently don't have any solar and don't run any Air conditioning or heating off SHP2. Goal is to go TOU and bring down electricity cost. Do u think I should get another DPU+ 2 batteries, or should I just get more batteries for my single DPU and try to max 1 DPU?
They have been doing way better and most items work. Just like any product you hear from people with problems but never the success ones. Just like cars
@ I am constantly seeing refurbished units for sale. I know it’s a numbers game and they stand behind their product but neither helps during a real emergency. Don’t get me wrong they all have their issues in quality control and I own some Ecoflow products. Wave 2, Glacier, River Pro 2 with extra battery.
And? Pretty soon. I hope the Delta pro are equal floor whatever you want to call it comes up with a generator even bigger like 8.6 kW, so all you need is 2 generators and better hook it up to 6 batteries. Each with the batteries being just as size as the generator's output. And hopefully I'll put bee what they call it. And hook up to 4 different generators, just for the difference. Even though you're the only need about 2 then, but this way, you might come up with an actual weak supply of power. When you actually. Need three weeks without the sun three and a half weeks be more precise
90 kW of powers 3 days of power. If you're lucky meaning you're not cooking with the kitchen stuff too much. Except maybe when the daylights out and generators collecting powhich 2 of them we made that time, we cooked that time same with the dryer. If everything's electric in your house like mine I don't know. What your third took because that would be dark, and I'll try to workout just fine, but you won't try your clothes at night. Unless you have more power than that. Or more. Batteries than that So you need 2 complete systems which means 6 generators. But you don't need all that.Water, you only need enough from probably 2 and a 1/2 generators.Depend on what your power uses in the house. But if you got a Tesla, then you probably wouldn't need it.Cause that's taken Eleven kilowatts an hour a tesla
Batteries are too expensive for this…. EG4 14.4KW indoor wall-mount are $3300, EcoFlow 6KW for $2300, ouch. Doesn’t support MID (MicroGrid Interconnection Device) to allow grid tied Solar to run behind the meter, already have Enphase solar.. doesn’t support auto starting of a generator to recharge batteries on low or no solar days…. Enphase and EG4 GridBoss/FlexBoss21 both do. Sorry, falls short for me.. also with a generator, you don’t need huge batteries, get enough for a day, if it runs low, it can start a generator to charge them for a few hours, to get you to the next sunlight.. with a generator and auto start, you can survive any prolonged grid outage, as the generator only runs a few hours/day, and only on low or no solar days. Ready for the Zombie apocalypse 😬👍
They both have pros and cons which I will do some Of that soon. Some People have no clue how To wire and would have to pay decent money to have a xp6000 xp18k or grid boss hybrid inverters installed. Plus needs permit sense it’s a permanent mount. Not that everyone does. I have a Enphase system as well which we install these along with Tesla as well. Everything has its pros and cons. But the grid boss is a nice setup. Xp6000 is super budget friendly
telling someone their home battery is like a tesla is of no value. How long does your home run on a tesla? this is why so many of these videos are so unhelpful. People want to know how long they can run their home on these things.
the deltra pro ultra is definitely not worth it, terrible company, terrible support, terrible hardware, terrible software, very frustrating company to deal with.
I've spent $30K on 1 DPU, 5 batteries, 14 - 400W panels and had the panels roof mounted just to find that these DPU's have nothing but problems. I am now on my 3rd inverter as well with more problems. The MPPT controllers cannot balance the loads properly and you will not get the amount of input from your solar that they are putting out. The cooling fans are faulty and the AC input relays break quickly. I've had 3 faulty units in only 2 months and still do not have a working system. This is over priced Chinese garbage in my experience. I have spent countless hours troubleshooting these problems for EcoFlow as their customer service is horrible. Buyer beware, this equipment is garbage. This is not a knock at this video, just another buyer that is on his 3rd inverter in 2 months with no solution and $30K less on my pocket.
Interesting. You are probably the second person I have heard who has several problems. Honestly these are pretty stout. I’m not saying they can’t have problems but interesting you are on 3 units and still having issues. That honestly is rare. But the mppt controllers don’t balance loads it only charges batteries. The inverters work in conjunction with the controllers
What I mean by the faulty controllers is that on the high input side (10 panels) is putting out half of the amperage of the low side (4 panels) leading to very poor solar input. My first DPU also had a fan that ran constantly at 90db. My 3rd DPU cannot take AC input and shoots an error code if I try. It's been a nightmare dealing with Ecoflow customer support. They are in China. I have only had the equipment for 2 months and EcoFlow's solution is to send out another unit and not a new unit, but a refurbished unit. I paid for new equipment but they want to give me used equipment. These units are way overpriced and complete garbage.
The Delta Pro Ultra has been an impressive unit especially for a first run of this type. Thoughts? #ecoflow #solar #backuppower

Drinking Starbucks is not an investment! Thank you for your video. I appreciate the information. Question? Why do you have solar panels mounted on your garage wall?
The solar panels are mounted on the wall as display at the shop.
My family owns solar installation business and my studio is in the back.
@4:57 ground loop error when using transfer switch and charging at the same time? that seems to be a common use case for this setup, and it's how I have my Bluetti setup. Are you sure about that/can you explain more? If so it would rule out me ever upgrading from my bluetti ac300 to this...
I had one cause a huge power surge that caused thousands of dollars of damages. 50 AMP bridge.
Hmm need more info as it seems pretty hard for a unit to create the surge. Curious as to what happened
@notonk wow interesting. Wonder if a battery got dropped during shipping.
@notonk wow that is odd. Well glad it didn’t do more damage.
hello, are you from the USA, did you got tax credit for your battery and inverter purchase? I heard we can buy just the batteries to get tax credit (earlier, the purchase is supposed to have atleast one solar panel)..
I already have 8.8kW solar panel system installed non my roof by Tesla.
Instead of powerwall, I would like to buy this.
Would the installation of the extra circuit breaker and reliance switch etc be covered as well?
If DPU connected to transfer switch while simultaneously charging via solar panels, does the solar array require a separate grounding rod?
The solar array should still be grounded for your own safety and others. That’s up to you. Some go right to there panel some do separate. So may want to consult an electrician for your setup
Would you still need pigtails if you are plugging the DPU into the Rich Solar Quick Disconnect box?
You mean from the power in/out port or from the C19 port?
@@unijabnx2000 I think both but it's a good question I'd love someone to test. The manual warns about it for the C19 input. I think that when using the SHP2 all the AC outputs are disabled. I'm not sure if they're disabled when using the Power In/Out port with a 240v generator.
@@unwin42 idk ive seen a handful of others comment that if you using the gen cord for the power in/out , the ac output keeps working.
I definitely can understand that. A lot of labor lost verses just buying at the store. So that’s another way it pays for it self some. 👍🏼
Will the inverter work without a battery. Let’s say I plug a EV power source on the left side and then attach the unit to a 50 amp inlet that goes to an interlock on the main panel.
No must have a battery
FYi Costco has them with 1 inverter and 3 batteries for $ 8k and the wall panel for $1000.00 unit 12/25
But it’s 12/4..?
@johnnysweekends yes I corrected it 12/25
I had original 2x delta pro with using smart home panel.
The furnace motor needs FLA 17.5/8.75 , 1 1/2 hp
And the system shutdown 409 code. I tried a kick start on the motor, and it still didn't work.
I called ecoflow today, and they said,
If you do not hook up a smart home panel .
That help tech guy doesn't know what he is saying. Both plugs put out 30 amps. But I still have the furnace issue
Furnace needs to see ground
So try bonding plug but do not AC charge with bonding plug installed.
@brianschulze3689 you can also do the extension cord trick where you run a cord from a outlet of your house to the DPU….. BUT………
Both the tabs power and neutral need to be cut off. So only the lower ground pin is left and that acts as a ground wire or bond to the house.
But the bonding plug typically does the trick. Just remember no AC charging DPU while bonding plug is in
Can you charge battery(input) with dc plug, an powering(output) house at the Same time?
Do you have issue’s with your lights flickering with other loads are introduced?
I did notice a quick dim with high loads like a dryer. Like that?
Yeah it’s annoying when you’re off grid with them always flickering with high loads.
Your Amazon bitly link is not working
Thank you I’ll double check it
It works for me now.
@GreenGoose99 thanks let me know about the discount code if you use it
And also be sure to check out shop solar
They sometimes have really good deals on DPU

Again thanks for an excellent review has always you do a great job.
I’ve been trying many configurations and it is a great unit
The big let down is that there is no way to have any auto start generator with this unit while connected to the Smart Home panel.
It is a big disappointment for me
Specially that all other unit can accomplish that.
I think they have something in the works. Hopefully we see it in the next 3 months or less
Nice review. A lot of smart options. But, slow down man; take a few breaths…😂
I wish I knew about Ecoflow before I committed to my $35k Enphase 10T system. I would have had 30kwh DPU rather than just a paltry 10kwh.
Yea it’s crazy they came out with something that has been working extremely well. I imagine more companies doing something like this soon
@ Yeah. Did you see Enphase’ new Power Pack 1500? Trying to get into the portable battery space.
@chancejensen9324 yup I did lol
Will be interesting but I don’t think they do much for shipping test units
How confident are you that tariffs if they happen will significantly increase these ecoflows? I wasn't sure how much of ecoflows materials/manufacturing is done statewide. This would factor into my reasoning to expand my DPU system with BF deals.
Literally no one knows
@Tech4Ten yea tax rebate is supposed to stay I thought. But will see.
I’ll have to take a dealer dive into it and maybe do a news brief lol
I love Ecoflow but their quality control keeps me from spending major coin.
OMG, now I know how ignorant I am.
lol uh ohhh what happened
Too bad each battery Is not 7.2 kW.That would make it even better
Buy now china tarrifs prices will go up
Will see
@johnnysweekends just got a delta 3
They both have pros and cons which I will do some
Of that soon.
Some
People have no clue how
To wire and would have to pay decent money to have a xp6000 xp18k or grid boss hybrid inverters installed.
@whitegorilla2835 wow very odd. I have never heard my fans get very loud at all in my 100 degree garage and under load.
