Hello and thanks for tuning in to another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME. Among the 82 winning maneuvers in sumo, the technique of tripping the opponent by skillfully hooking their legs stands out as truly spectacular. To guide you on this journey, we've consulted Coach Kabutoyama, a renowned expert in sumo's winning strategies, who will provide instructions on how to secure victory in a match through the execution of graceful leg-tripping techniques. Embrace the opportunity to refine your footwork and elevate your sumo prowess. Arigato for watching and see you again soon!
while Hoshoryu performs Kakete relatively often, he still rarely uses them. He won by Sotogake 6 times in the last 3 years, and hasn't used it since becoming Ozeki 4 tournaments ago. The last time he won by Uchigake was also 3 years ago. Nonetheless, a whopping 7% of his wins have come from Kakete, which is very impressive. I assume he is using them more sparingly nowadays because he fights against skilled fighters who just don't give him the opening often. (stats courtesy of sumodb)
@@amazingbakingsoda6811 it's for the better, we don't need anyone else reporting on tabloid news and then speculating about it as if it were solid fact. We definitely need more openness and honesty around what went on, but not like that.

Sazanami is a good supporting actor. :)
Wonderful light hearted fun - and informative too! Thanks Hiro!
Thanks Hiro and SPT team. Another great video.
I did judo for over 10 years so its nice to see some popular techniques carry over.
When will we see Hironoumi on the banzuke?? 😂 Great video again Hiro, thank you! And great to see Sazanami!
What a crew!
Great job sharing the intricate skills utilized in SUMO!
0:57 is the best part!
Next time we need at least one clip of hiro being pushout out again, those are always the most fun!! But great work on the Ashiwaza!
When we play sumo with my daughter she calls this move "the Hoshoryu"
Nice❤
Nice, I like Hoshoryu too
Excellent video as always. Thanks!
About a rishiki with variable skills techniques, i think Hoshoryu is the best one. The man knows how to do anything to attack and defend.
He has an unmatched sense of balance.
Hiro's calves are just absolutely insane.
I love leg tripping techniques in sumo, and I'm a little surprised that we don't see them more often.
Lever une jambe alors qu'on est poussé par un bulldozer n'est pas toujours facile.
such skill and power, i'd say hironoumi definitely a powerful jounokuchi wrestler. KEKW
Hironoumi…the next Yokozuna? Keep practicing!
I was expecting a lot more Hoshoryu highlights, but perhaps his trip techniques are in a different category.
I thought of him immediately when I saw the title of the video.

Speaking of uchikake, the third dan, 雷鵬(raiho).
"Haro sumo fans", somehow Oyakata voice sounds soothing. 😌
Aonishiki is a young star specializing in this move
Love these segments! Hopefully they break down all types of techniques, even if Hiro can't perform them live for safety.
Thanks for the video
❤❤❤
Can't believe that Hiro's older than both of my parents 😂
❤☝️
決まり手
😀 👏
Why are the same moves in Judo and Sumo not the same name ?
Can you let go and go into a handlock with yourself to then trip/ throw like wrestling?
I do understand SPT is a lighthearted entertainment programm but I do miss more serious sumo news.
SPT is an official Sumo Federation channel, so don't expect "openness" here. :) Watch Chris Sumo or other great channels.

World of Sumo reports on these things but with a much more balanced approach.
