    Sazanami accepted that loss with the dignity of a Yokozuna.

    Thanks for featuring Chiyonofuji, I've been watching a lot of archive footage since I got into sumo and he's my absolute favourite!

      Same with me. It is a shame that there is not much footage from his bouts.

      @@luckypyjamastv1473 There's a great channel called "Don Don" who posts breakdowns of sumo bouts. He just recently made a series on Chiyonofuji compiling dozens of his bouts.

    Love seeing when they feature the GOAT Chiyonofuji. Also Fun Fact: Chiyonofuji’s left hand grip was soo renowned that they dubbed it” The Death Grip”. Superb episode Hiro, we await more!!!!

    It looks like Sazanami should be ranked around Makushita 55 in January; it would be great if SPT could keep us up to date on his progress during the tournament!

      Kabutoyama is an instructor in the "sumo school", where all the new recruits go for 6 months - 1 year. Sazanami is from Isenoumi stable. The filming I think is done in the sumo school, which is located in the Kokugikan

    is there a reason why they don't talk about using their legs to trip/lift the opponent's leg? From seeing Chiyonofuji, Hakuho among many others, tripping the opponent with the planted leg before throwing is almost as important.

    • @matejdostal9992
      @matejdostal9992 9 месяцев назад

      Yes, but that would be another winning move, i think that they will ge to them later

    • @grievousxxx
      @grievousxxx 9 месяцев назад

      @@matejdostal9992 At the opening 4 sec into the vid, the third opponent thrown by chiyonifuji was tripped by chiyonifuji while being thrown.
      Hakuho, hoshoryu and many others used that to initiate the throw, by getting their opponents off balance.
      I suppose it is just extra gravy on top and the basic of the move doesn't require it to work.
