Konnichiwa and welcome to another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME. I’m the show host Hiro Morita. November is here and that means the final tourney of the year is just around the corner. I know most of you can’t wait for the competition to get underway, so how about we offer another clip to get you ready for 2023 sumo finale in Fukuoka. It’s Part 2 of our introduction of sumo’s kimarite or winning techniques. This time, we put our focus on Yorikiri or Frontal force out which is one of sumo’s most commonly used winning moves. Kabutoyama Oyakata and Sazanami-san taught me the proper way of executing Yorikiri, but the session turned into a lot more than just receiving tips of the winning technique. We hope you enjoy watch me do my best to persevere the hard workout. Arigato!
Now, here’s a reminder of the next grand sumo tournament which takes place in Fukuoka City, southwestern Japan.
The final tourney of the year will get underway on Sunday, November 12.
The tickets are now on sale.

This kimarite series has been pretty informative and fun to watch. Kabutoyama oyakata and Sazanami are both great in front of the camera. I could imagine having Morita-san go through all eighty-two kimarite would murder him (or, he would end up being a force unto himself by the end 😆), but it would be great to have this team make a complete and comprehensive guide!

Keep making these detailed explanaitions of the moves please, even if you don't make Hiro perform them haha. This was very interesting. I enjoy the sport, but understanding the complexity behind the moves and their objectives will make it even better.

One of the best to ever do it was Tochinoshin. He had the body, and the spirit. Not only that, but he cared about his opponent's safety. Yorikiri-your arse right out!
