    I got lucky last Friday and walked into a Best Buy around 6 pm looking for a new monitor and found one in the console cage in the middle of the game section. Made my day!!!

    Great review! I've already seen a lot of reviews of this console but I knew that yours would make me learning something new, as always. Thanks for taking the time to measure the input lag, which I find quite important. It is often overlooked in reviews and too much lag can really ruin the fun of replaying old classics.

    Nicely done session. It is now November 2018 and these and the 8-bit units are available at Target...I purchased one as a Christmas gift. Thanks!

    Input lag depends on your tv and y9ur setup. I noticed very apparent lag on my dad's television. I took it home to my house and no lag at all on my tv. Extremely responsive and zero lag.

    • @LonSeidman
      @LonSeidman  6 лет назад +1

      Noticing it and measuring are very different things. In most cases the lag is far greater than the original console due to modern televisions and emulation on the console. I've been surprised that even when I don't perceive any lag to see the results when I run my tests on the game.

    • @Choom2077
      @Choom2077 6 лет назад

      Lon, have you tried testing the input lag on a CRT television? I too, do not notice the lag, which I suppose is a great thing, despite any measuring results.

    Great insight on how sitting on the floor playing SNES games replicates that experience of early 90's gaming.

    Best console in the world. Everything 8 bit, 16 bit, and N64 games, play on it. I love mine. Such a blast to play with and play on. I've been able to play games I never had a chance to play because of the Hackchi Dev's, and this console. The only thing I wish it had, is Wi-Fi capabilities. A browser/streaming abilities. That would be an all-in-one console.

    Zero interest in the Nintendo retro gaming topic but still watched beginning to end ! Informative and entertaining as usual. I was more of an Atari, Asteroids, Tank Plus guy myself

    Nice video Lon! and I love this piece of hardware. the lag you mentioned isn't noticeable. My only real complaint is that its 21 games instead of 30. I would have loved mario all stars, pilot wings, among other games to have been included. once again, nice video. I also made a SNES mini review recently. if anyone wants to check it out then please enter my channel and let me know what you think. take care Lon!

    It is a shame the cart slot isn't functional given they could have released future carts with more games collections.

  • @Beyondesp

    Thanks for testing the input lag. Did you do it on pixel perfect mode or the other modes? If you do 4:3 Or crt filter you get some input lag. I compared unofficially on street fighter 2 on the snes mini versus the retropie 3 and I could hit my combos much better on the snes mini vs the rpie3. So I think there's a little less lag on the mini.

    I secured the Classic NES thanks to a connection; can't get a hold of one of these though. Lon, what's your feeling on this forthcoming Commodore 64 Mini (THEC64 Mini)?

    Nice review and good insight. I'm not the target for this for a number of reasons, despite loving the old games. I'm not the type who gets much extra out of the authenticity of the experience. To me, it is just about the game and not the ritual around it, not that I have a problem with anyone who does enjoy that. But the idea of sitting on the floor and looking up at the TV sounds like a bad time for a number of my joints, especially my back and neck. I like some modern conveniences, though I prefer wired controllers.

    Keep in mind that most games on the SNES inherently already have about 2 frames of lag, so the emulation is adding an additional 3 frames over a SNES + CRT setup.

    Nostalgia in simplest terms. That and the fact that Nintendo refuses to meet the level of demand because they don't want to risk having unsold product left sitting on the shelf. They've done it for years to artificially inflate demand.

      Shan Santee it looks great, has good official controllers and is easy to use but more importantly it takes 5 mins to hack and put on another systems and ROMs. I think it's great value for money.

    Didn't they open up the AnalogNT Mini to allow it to run more than just NES games via the SD card slot? IIRC they had Sega Genesis even running flawlessly.

    • @LonSeidman
      @LonSeidman  6 лет назад +1

      Yes I covered it in my review! ruclips.net/video/_y5XJugZRks/видео.html -- but the FPGA in the NT Mini is not large enough to simulate the Genesis. Hope runs high that the SuperNT should be able to handle it.

    Raspberry Pi 3 with Retropie basically makes this product a complete waste of money. I have SNES, PS1, N64, and Dreamcast with all the games I want. Many other console emulators on it as well.

      Not really and not everyone wants to deal or have the skills to build one...the SNES it is very hackable and you could add hundreds of games not just Nintendo.

      From other reviews, it sounds like the input lag on the Canoe emulator in the SNES Classic is much less than the lag on Retropie, but I haven't seen a head-to-head comparison yet.

    Nintendo's brilliant marketing team at work! they ran out of ideas and they can't innovate anymore and come up with anything NEW so they come up with THIS.... and brainwashed everybody. I heard the HORSE AND BUGGY is coming back in 2018!
