Its an electrical interference issue. Start by cleaning/ resurfacing all grounds . Then insulate the wires from the alternator to the batteries securing insulation along the wires with zipties every 6inches. Worked for me .
My January 2001 built Cummins Ram just started doing the same thing after I ran it through a car wash. I'll check out the grounds as suggested. Thank you 🇺🇸
So I just had a full rebuild on my transmission and new upgrade torque converter, and cost me 3500 bucks, took it up a big hill today and notice the same problem back and forth 3 and 4 gear, imagine how fucking upset I was after dropping 3k in a rebuild, got it home took all me wire and battery connections and cleaned them real good, no issues, great video!!
@@ScissorFeet yeah check and clean all your ground connections and clean your battery cables really good, most likely you have the same issue as I did, I called the transmission place that done the work and they tried to tell me it was that upgraded dual vain converter I put in it, I knew they was full of it, I'm no transmission technician, but I am a certified heavy duty truck mechanic, and knew better than what they was telling me.
Try also adding a ground cable to your firewall where TCM is located also. My truck is 22 years old and this took care of a problem I had for 10 years.
Yup. I have the exact same problem on my ‘97 1500 5.2L 2WD. It began last year and went away when I cleaned up the connector for my transmission speed sensor. But the problem is back again and exactly at the moment when the weather turned a bit colder. Gonna check my grounds and maybe run another ground wire from the battery neg to the PCM.😊😊😊
Clean up and reroute your APPS wire then run a ground from your battery negative terminal on passenger side battery to the firewall ground on top of the pcm ground. Solved issues for many people. BD diesel also sells a kit I’m sure you could diy is a an Apps noise isolator goes straight onto your orange and blue apps wire in pcm to a ground. Good luck!
I had a 99 2500 with shifting problems. I totally agree with cleaning the grounds but adding a ground wire from the passenger side battery to the firewall where the TCM was located solved the problem permanently for the last year. I am assuming you have an automatic. I also had problems with the bin door for my heater intermittently changing from hot to cold air and back. This also was fixed with the ground cable. There is a video on this on you tube. Check it out.
Mine just started doing this yesterday I’m hoping this will fix it or it may just be low on fluid. So I’m hoping for the best Transmissions don’t grow on trees
This video is correct I had same undies cleaned cables and mine shifted perfect. I have to clean mine every couple months. I new mine wasn’t trans because I put new trans in mine and still will do the same thing sometimes. My old trans burnt out when swapped .
Everybody also make sure to have good new batteries because my truck started to do again when it started to get cold, so I replaced the old ones and now it hasn't been doing it for a a couple of months now!
Speed sensors on these transmission control alot. Replace speed sensor 1st and go from thier. I chased my tail changing out solinoids. Which was not the issue. It was a 30$ fix
Whats up guys,I have a question, I have the same problem but my truck is a 2001 5.2 gasser where I see most of you guys have diesels, any help would be appreciated
Make sure you're battery terminals are in good contact, because mine also did it recently and it was just my negative battery terminal was a little loose!

Also worth checking the throttle valve cable and making sure it’s adjusted correctly

My Dodge has the same problems. I'm going to check the TV cable first then clean connections

@@rodlawrence860 yeah I did that and also bought the 2nd gen trans kit that BD diesel offers and I haven't had no issue at all now

My truck is doing that same thing and this is the first video that shows the problem I am having
Are all you're ground wires clean and have a good connection?
Did this "fix" the problem or did irt just go away for a while? Please let me know. Thanks

Pro tip : you can watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Harley Jesiah Definitely, I've been watching on flixzone} for since december myself =)

Thanks, I think that's the problem for my 2wd
You get this fixed my 2015 Tradesman cummins is doing this
Not sure how similar the new 4th gen transmissions are, but I would start by checking oil levels and any loose or corroded wires

What gauge cable and connectors did you use
I just reused the original wiring and just cleaned the connection
@@philipboots98 if I was wanting to run a ground cable from the battery to the firewall spot what size gauge would you recommend or does it not matter
Listen to the Cummins purr
You still have that grey disconnect. Get rid of that and use a butt connector instead.
My 24v doesn’t go into OD at all any ideas
Same problem. Was hoping someone commented on this issue.
Possibly TPS
@@BBBT1972 possibly TPS
Another reason why; bring back the manual transmission??
My brother in law had grounding and throttle sensor problems with his 2002 which has a manual trans.
I had the same problem and it was just the alternator, couse it was charging up n down so I changed the alternator and problem fix
I have the same problem nee battery new battery ends new fuel pump still having the problem
If is serious slipping then it could be your transmission!

I know it takes for ever to get it up to 40mph

I'm not to sure about the gas truck transmissions all I know is that they have a different 4 speed transmission.

Tried to like this video and it wouldn't let me
