I have to add more to my comments, I never make custard from custard powder as I prefer making it from scratch like with all my cooking. It just doesn't taste the same. I am an American living here in England and married to an English man who loves pudding and through your video, I learn how to make so many in fact I even create my own, something simple. Here’s a tip: if you want to make extra sure the cakes don’t stick to the cake pans, you can line them with parchment/wax/baking/grease-proof paper after buttering and flouring or spraying them with baking spray.

We made this for Christmas dinner, and it was AMAZING. Unfortunately (fortunately) there is enough to serve 12 people, so we have plenty of leftovers. Not surprisingly, it is even better for breakfast :-). All that said, we didn't care for the cornflakes as they did not add sufficient crunch. Next time we will consider either honeycomb, peanut brittle, or heath bars for the crunchy topping.
This is amazing. I’ll definitely use this idea for the holidays. thinking maybe something Christmas related trifle of the same size for my Christmas party with 50 people. A gingerbread trifle? Maybe a ferrero rocher trifle with hazelnut and chocolate Creme diplomat? Hazelnut/chocolate sponge with roasted hazelnuts?

Hi there I have reduced the sugar to 300g but ended up with so fudge brownies that looks more like brownie pudding. I did increase the cooking time by an extra 20 min but the same result. 😅since I have reduced the sugar what should have I done to get the same result as you guys? add more flour? it did taste divine though and we ate it with a spoon...yumm😋

You know, I’ve never liked trifle. But watching this, I’ve realised I’ve only ever had my grandmother’s trifle. I remember it had soggy gross cake and jelly and the fruit texture was weird with everything else. Maybe she just sucks at making trifle! Maybe I’ll try making one. Not this big though! Christmas dessert is planned so it’ll be a next year thing. Perhaps a teeny tiny one for me to try by myself.

I’d say make all the bits the day before and then assemble on the day so it’s lovely and fresh but it would still keep for up to 3 days in the fridge
