    A lot is glossed over in this video, such as:
    How to find (human) technology brokers: Inara > Data > Search nearest > stations, and then choose Technology Broker as the station service. In the list, it will differentiate Human from Guardian in the first column.
    How to make abandoned settlements (like "Dav's Hope") appear. Google the name and find out which system/planet it's on. Approach that planet and scan it with DSS. The settlement name should then show up in your navigation list. Additionally, there's actually only about 6 materials items here at any one time, so you will need to relog several times to get the full amount of materials you need.

      I've found out that most tutorials about elite dangerous on youtube especially from the most popular uploaders are, mediocre at best. They gloss over so much stuff. I don't know why there aren't any good uploaders for this game, most videos are way too old too. An update or two will invalidate all the methods for these tutorials too and for some reason they never mention how you can make use of your full FSD range from the route settings>deactivate discovery focus>enable cone boost (so you can overdrive your neutron jump). I think this info should be in every video, so many newcomers haven't even unchecked that, imagine if you had to jump 125 times to get to that farming HIP system.
      As these videos get invalidated youtube creators don't even put the effort to delete the video or at the very least put a disclaimer below. Just one guy with the guts to put some effort into making noteworthy tutorials could blow out all these channels out the water. They're like chatbots, they point to a way, but there's no way to know if you can reproduce the same results.

      @manrightchea 3 года назад +1

      You know that reminds me of why I'm not a fan of the Anaconda, honestly that ship should have been balanced a long time ago but Frontier refuses to do it due to backlash.
      It honestly holds back every ship in the game from being better and it holds back any future ship from being better. That's why ships like to Type 10 end up being unremarkable is because the Anaconda does too much well.

    • @bmwracer67
      @bmwracer67 3 года назад +1

      @@manrightchea Exactly my thoughts. Anaconda and Cutter are probably the two most overpowered ships in the game. Frontier has mentioned they will be looking at a ship balance pass after Odyssey. Improved balance among ships sounds almost more exciting than new ships in my opinion, but we'll see if and when that happens.

    • @manrightchea
      @manrightchea 3 года назад

      @@bmwracer67 I agree honestly I don't even want new ships until they balance the Anaconda for the same exact reason we just talked about. Until the Anaconda gets a balance, any new large ship will be automatically outclassed. The ship should have a heavier hull mass. Makes no sense for a ship that large to weigh the same as an Alliance Challenger. It also has the highest overall effective DPS. It's got Superior convergence to the type 10 and slightly better hardpoint loadouts than the Vette.
      I mean it has a huge and three larges for God sakes, and each of them is right by the other for great convergence. Makes no sense even 2 huges and one large with poor placement underneath doesn't make up for three larges and a huge.
      Two mediums and two smalls in addition like it even needed that much..if they were going to give it all that they should have given it 1 medium and 2 small. .
      EVERY other ship especially future ships, will be mediocre until something is done about it. There's a reason Frontier will only make new medium and small ships. That's because they know any new Large ship is going to be an automatic disappointment.
      People think that means you can't afford one when you criticize it, I'm a multi billionaire many times over and I still can't stand the ship. The other Big 2 could have been much better and the Type 10 could have been a true 4th, but they refuse to do what they know they should have done a long time ago.
      Also if you look at it from a story standpoint it's basically like humanity regressed. For a 500-year-old freighter to be better than modern warships means that humanity regressed. That's the current canon right now, somehow the makers of a five century old freighter made better technology than the Federation and Empire.
      You know I've felt for a long time that the Cutter has no business being tankier than the Corvette overall. Now the Corvette is still _slightly_ more dangerous than the right hands, but not enough.
      Yes it has harder armor but it needs more hit points than 666 base. Cutter has more and much more shields, the maneuverability is the only thing that makes the Corvette more dangerous in the right hands.
      I also feel like the Corvette should have had a size 7 frame shift and not a size 6.

    To those who muck around the "it's a bad fit for a combat vessel" mantra, I'm not sure what you are all complaining about. A standard 5A comes with 120 Integrity. Long Range + Mass Manager reduces that to 94. The "Super" version of the 5A showcased here comes at an integrity of 84 but with MORE jump range than a 5A long range + mass manager. Hence you can slap on a "double braced" experimental, still have a longer jump range, but more integrity for a total of 105. That means it beats your old 5A Long range + Mass Manager in BOTH areas, jump range and integrity. You do understand you don't *HAVE* to put Mass Manager on to it if you want to fit it to a combat ship, right?
    And if you really need all that integrity you can get your hands on, then you don't care about jump range anyway, because you are flying Shielded + double braced. Depending on your loadout maybe even B type.
    With the advent of Carriers, FSD drives on field-combat ships have become curiously less relevant. Grabbing your carrier with your fleet on top of it, flying to whatever combat you currently feel like, directly in system, means you don't even need to bother to use your FSD for jumping. Hence you can run shielded or fast boot + double braced all day, and even downgrade in order to save weight without sacrificing integrity based on what you had before to have a balance between integrity and jump range.
    Of course, at this point the question becomes how skilled an experienced a pilot you are that you have to rely on a half broken FSD during fight, and actually think you can get out there just fine. The moment you're mass locked from a bigger ship, and you can't get out of the 4500m mass lock radius, you're dead meat anyway, no matter how much beating your FSD can take if your base hull will be shredded long before that. But that's beside the point.

    Thanks dude, I've been trying to work out which one it was as it doesn't mention the extra effect on the left there. Now I know. Saved me much pottering and wondering :)
    Didn't help that I buggered off without it once I'd unlocked the thing because I was tired! Thank goodness for Inara, and your help. Hope you're enjoying your new HOTAS :)
    Can I ask what you think of this bit of forum chat:
    - For a class 4 FSD and lower, Deep Charge will net you slightly more range than Mass Manager.
    - For a class 5 FSD it mostly doesn't matter, both are super close to each other.
    - For a class 6 FSD or higher, Mass Manager nets you more range than Deep Charge.
    I suppose I can try both as you can overlay Exp options without losing the other two bonuses.

    You're a life saver. Im new to the game and just got myself to a Python. Looking to make it into a passenger build and saw I needed an engineered drive - well I haven't managed to get to far with Felicty yet so farming for this instead was much easier for me (and got a tone off exploration data to). Really useful video, great links and easy to use. Thank you, so much, from a new commander. o7. I was going to put one on the federal Corvette and one on the Anaconda, and after buying three I discovered those two ships require different size FSD. I've got 5 of these special ones, 2 from community goals (3 bought as above) and actually is a bit of a swiss army knife FSD for a fair few ships, quite a jack of all trades. After a bit of testing, BD-09 956 system, 1st moon of the Major Ringed Gas Giant, when you go to that you should encounter 5 to 7 signal sources within 1 light second of each other (Yes I said One Light Second, about 40 seconds to each so a very short range test of this location). Once these have been investigated, jump out of the system then back in. These should yield around 4-6 materials per source x 5-7 sources x 3 per item = between 60 and 126 materials per jump in and out. Also Data Points tended to yield triple encoded's, mainly doubles but about 1 in 4 at least triple data dumps. Extremely useful. I've posted the list in a comment on the Hot Jupiter video so have a look if curious and try it out. Great Video, awesome as always, and today I am drinking from my.......SnowRunner Mug, I will be getting a DFYL Mug, You should do DFYL T-Shirts a hidden reminder to the Elite in the know crowd. Now, if I need a stock of any encoded mat I just go to the Jameson Crash Site, farm for 15 minutes to max out my Adaptive Encryptors Capture storage, and cross trade for DWEs. It'll probably take less time to pop out to Jameson and come back than it will to scan enough wakes for 18 DWEs. There's no guarantee that you'll find a system in famine, whereas Jameson is persistent. Plus, you'll have additional AECs to trade for other encoded mats.

    • @manrightchea
      @manrightchea 3 года назад +2

      @@danielstokker It's not worth it to look for Arsenic as it's much quite rare. It's best to get the Grade 5 version of a raw material and trade down at the Material Trader. There's a couple ways you can do this.
      In my opinion I think the best way is to get other grade 5 raw materials and then trade down for Arsenic even if you have to cross trade.
      For example if you spend some time at the Crystal Shard sites or the crashed Anacondas, you can load up on a lot of grade five raw materials easily.
      For instance max out something like Tellurium and cross trade down for Arsenic. Even though you'll get less per each one than if you had Polonium to trade, it'll still be worth it because you're getting multiple for each one.
      For instance let's say one Polonium trades directly for 6 Arsenic *(I'm not looking I'm just using this as an example it might not be six)*
      Well one Tellurium might trade for 3 Arsenic since it's a cross trade. even so it's still a better option than looking for a manually because you're getting multiple for each one and it's a lot easier to find Tellurium or Zirconium.
      Do you get what I'm saying?

    • @Khunvyel
      @Khunvyel 3 года назад

      @@manrightchea You speak the truth; it's often less time consuming to go with things that are easier to attain and just trade them in. Problem is, many a people don't see that because they think "well but I have to TRADE IN, so I am doing a loss, so I rather search the thing on my own" without knowing a point of reference. To further prove your point:
      Arsenic -> Mercury -> Polonium in the same row. So you get 9 Arsenic for 1 Polonium, and 3 for one mercury. From other rows, you trade Arsenic in a 2:3 ratio from other grade 4 materials.
      And then you can find planets which have all three of these materials, including geological signals. So that's a triple win, because you can trade everything down, if you so desire, for the fastest coverage.
      I do wonder though what arsenic has to do with anything in this context, because the level 5 drive covered in this video comes PRE-ENGINEERED and neither Mass Manager nor Deep Charge experimental needs Arsenic, so the person you answered to maybe got a bit confused or talked about other FSD sizes. I still think Arsenic has always been an easy material to get. Your info is relevant either way though :) with a minor correction; there are no grade 5 raw materials, only 1 to 4.

    • @manrightchea
      @manrightchea 3 года назад

      @@Khunvyel Oh yeah my bad I forgot about the Grade 4 thing on raw materials lol. Yeah I think he might be a newer player which there's nothing wrong with asking, it's better to ask than to not know. He could buy the drive and the video but there are some times where it might not be a good idea.
      Due to the integrity I wouldn't put one in a combat ship I'd rather keep the integrity and be able to use another hull reinforcement that a module reinforcement. That's just me though.
      You also have to keep in mind Arsenic necessary for the Reinforced shield generator.so if you want to make a meta Prismatic or Bi-Weave for instance.. Also right now it's still necessary for every other size but 5. Since this new drive is only a size 5.
      It's better right now but eventually after Thursday it's going to be a lot more expensive to buy this drive. Thing is though just avoiding the grinding along makes it worth the price even at the higher price IMO.
      That's why I went ahead and bought plenty of them lol.
      Arsenic was never terribly difficult to find but it had a low enough drop rate where I felt like I just never found it back in the day. Like other people were lucky, but I didn't seem to have good luck finding it so I was glad when we could trade for it.
      that's basically what I've been doing the past couple days is just trying to max out materials and data. Make myself max it once and for all so I never come back again.
      You probably know how it is being an old head on this game. You start running out of motivation..

      I don't know if this is kosher but you can just relog in Horizons and the mats will respawn. Also look for a manufactured materials trader to trade up for the mats you need. Hope this helps.

    I just decided to get back into Elite.. my hotas should be here by Friday.
    It's going to cost me a couple extra engineering materials to get this stupid FSD boost...
    Just kidding, great video! I wish I'd known about this sooner although timing with ordering my hotas and this event ending would not have changed anything 🤷🏻‍♂️.

      Yes, because essentially this FSD is double engineered: both faster boot and increased range, both of which result in an increase to jump range. At the very least, get it while it's cheap, even if it's just getting put in storage for now.

    Why does volcanism matter in the case of Tellurium? EDDB is reporting tellurium of 1.6% in the system I'm in, but there is no volcanism on that planet. Would that matter if I go there?

  • @Khunvyel

    Why would you prefer deep charge over Mass Manager? Through all the different ship sizes I engineered, in no scenario deep charge came out on top in terms of range. Maybe for extremely weird niche builds, but I havn't come across any so far.

    • @danielstokker
      @danielstokker 3 года назад +1

      No evry fsd level 4 and below gets better range with deep charge 5 and above mass management and in your scenario you were probebly not messing with smaller ships

    • @Khunvyel
      @Khunvyel 3 года назад +1

      @@danielstokker I was. My DBX, ASPE, Imperial Courier, Vulture, Dolphin and Hauler always jump further with Mass Manager. My Federal Corvette, Imperial Cutter, Anaconda and even T10 all jump further with mass Manager instead of Deep Charge too. This is why I said, it might have something to do with certain stages of mass, which is why I wanted to know with which kinds of builds these tipping points occur. Even when Deep Charge crept really close to the jump range of Mass Manager, I had noticeably less fuel in the tank after a few jumps. I've triplechecked with edsy and coriolis through all my ships and in my setups, Mass Manager always wins over Deep Charge.

      @@danielstokker Without wanting to insult, I am preferring personal tests to some facebook posts of people who regurgitate things without second guessing them :) Especially since sometimes it's just old information being repeated ad nauseum.
      I do not rely blindly on Edsy and Coriolis, I also do tests on my own because I have learned often enough that third party tools are not always trustworthy. Sometimes not even the ingame info is, as tooltips are sometimes not giving correctly calculated information.
      This is why I asked the question. Edsy, coriolis and ingame information always tell me the same story, regardless of a small ship that is below minimum thruster tonnage, small ships that are packed heavy, large ships which are at the edge of possibility like an 80 LY Jumpaconda or a fat B-fitted Imperial Cutter or Corvette. Mass Manager wins.
      That is why I want to know which builds on which ships people specifically use where you jump further with Deep Charge. I want to see the links of these builds to verify that on my own. Because from where I am, I simply can not in good conscience agree to the statement that Deep charge is better on small ships. My ingame info speaks against it, Edsy and Coriolis speak against it too.
      Therefore, I ask for explanation and specific builds. Not a thousand reposts of he-said-she-said :) Also, if it's only 80% of the community, it means there is no unified consensus :P

Could you add to the video how much additional jump range you actually get out of this for this particular build? That would help understand if it is worth the time invested to me personnally.
