Kaluuya straight up pulled that performance out of them. The chest punch. The violation of personal space. Created a real nervous energy in the cool kids. Made their performance that much more believable.

I remember watching this in the theater and thinking to myself, "I want a WHOLE movie about how HE got into where he is amongst the crew". Probably my favorite performance by Daniel Kaluuya that I've seen thus far.
Daniel Kaluuya is incredible in that film. He's character is like the Devil in human shape, coming down to earth. I think his interpretation and his presence give something quite surreal to a pretty realistic movie. I love that kind of stuff.
In some ways, that's my favourite part of this scene. What's really unnerving is how he potentially REALLY was into it and shot them once he got bored. Dope performance by Kaluuuya.
Best scene in the movie. His facial expression and vibing to the song should have gotten him an Oscar. Also the song should have gotten rap song of the year
Ya they're one of my favorite rap duos too. What made it perfect is in this movie the setting is Chicago and that's where they really are from. It's crazy how people don't realize Mikey's verse from the movie is actually part of his verse in a song called Dice Game that they made for the movie soundtrack.
that long take, Daniels direction to just intimidate was a rollercoaster ride, once that kid met his eye level and they started vibing I actually felt relieved. just for him to take one to the dome shook me. really just amazing work all around
British actors nearly always get brought up in classic, Shakespearean drama schools and then farmed in the various TV productions they have there. A pile of script pages memorized quickly becomes nothing to them. For UK actors, it's about the years of work you can put in and building familiarity among viewers. Here in the US, it's regional acting groups spaced far apart or getting your start as a juvenile actor in programs geared toward a similarly-aged audience. Regarding the latter, the more famous faces tend to get typecast and they struggle to find work as adults. US actors also work in plenty of commercials. While the UK acting scene is about longevity, US actors are preoccupied with landing their breakthrough performance.
BlueFox94 Wrong. Daniel didn’t go even go to drama school. He just put so much time and effort into his craft, and when the opportunity arose it just led from one to thing to another. Also, the whole Shakespeare theatre is a bit annoying because there’s Americans who have studied Shakespeare for years and aren’t working actors preferably because they wanted to become broadway actors or they just couldn’t find a really trustworthy agent. It all boils down too your work ethnic and then who’s willing to take that chance on you in the industry.
