    I grew up in New York with a "Guns Are Evil" family and I had never been exposed to the shooting world. Thank you for your time and effort in explaining proper handling and appreciation and introducing me to my favorite new hobby. I have a job transfer to Texas in April and I cant wait to be in a free state. Keep up the good work.

      Sadly, I live in a "guns are evil" country. I wish it was as simple as moving state. Sick of living in Australia where personal protection is not a legitimate reason for owning a firearm. Only place you can shoot a pistol is in a range. For this reason, I would love to live in the US, preferably somewhere like Texas.
      Lol anybody feel like sponsoring a poor, rights deprived Aussie? 😂

      I just acquired my first Glock 19 Gen 4. I shot a buddies during the summer of 2016 and fell in love with a gun but just didn’t have the money for four years and just got my own recently. Even with the factory sites at 50 feet I still can manage 3 inch groups without even really trying. My first handgun was a Smith and Wesson model 59 also a 9 mm and I couldn’t hit the side of a barn at 10 feet with

    • @SPiderman-rh2zk
      @SPiderman-rh2zk 4 года назад

      British Forces use the Glock as well, I think the US Army went with a P220. In the UK it replaced the L9A1 (Browning Hi-Power 9mm). It seems a lot more user-friendly. The Police here have been using them for years.

    • @SPiderman-rh2zk
      @SPiderman-rh2zk 4 года назад

      @Betsy Ross 2a Mate thank you for the correction. Do you think the US forces will eventually standardise with their choice of service pistol? I believe the reason all UK forces now use the L131A1 SLP (Glock 17, Self-Loading Pistol) is standardisation and parts commonality. British Police use the Glock 17, and covert/sneaky beaky Police use the subcompact (??) version, The Glock 26 (??) chambered in 9mm.

    In my experience people hate on glocks cause they just work. They are the workhorses of law enforcement and many civilians carry them as well cc. I also see that a lot of guys hate and I mean hate that their 3,000 dollar Kimber or their 1,200 dollar Sig is always outperformed by 500 dollar Glocks every time... Plus people just love to hate cause so many people own and like Glocks...

    @xBossAwesomex, I've shot it several times since doing the videos. The only malfunctions I've had were with the early videos. AFter I shoot it some more, I might test it again with whatever the worst / weakest 115 grain 9mm is to see if I can get it to malfunction with some of that stuff. I really don't care, though, if there's an occasional malfunction with the worst, weakest ammo. For the spring to work better with normal powered ammo, I guess it HAS to just barely perform with light stuff.

The best camera we could find that has that level of optical zoom was the Sony CX 150. Plus, it has some internal flash memory, which makes it nice. it seems to be a good camera thus far. We just started using it. The only reason we were slow to go HD was the fact that we knew we would have to do a MAJOR computer and editing software upgrade. The camera was the easy part. :-)

    @1962egl , Good point. Yeah, a lot of people talk and talk about the duel recoil spring being the problem, but Glock as definitely established a great track record with duel recoil springs. It's just the strength of the spring that is the problem for some. shooters and some ammo. My guess is that the aftermarket will take care of the issue pretty quickly, if Glock doesn't. There will be springs of every weight imaginable. I've always preferred stock springs, but we'll see how it goes.

    @londoncarroll , I suppose they are mostly right at the edge on power factor. About any carry ammo is going to be stronger, and this would not be an issue. Guess I could live with one occasionally if I'm saving enough on cheap ammo; however, it would become annoying if it happened very often. I certainly would not shoot a match with anything that was not 100% reliable either.

    I came back to watch this video from nearly 4 yrs ago to remind myself of the problems that the Gen4 G19 went through. These days I believe the gun is very much GTG, but a week ago I decided to run a #3 RSA I took out of my oldest Gen4 G23 in my own Gen4 19, a more recent FDE version. Perhaps because of all of the 40S&W rounds that this particular #3 spring has already seen over the years it's loosened up quite a bit, but the G19 didn't bobble in the 350 rounds I ran through it. Hardly scientific but I still thought it interesting. Shot a variety of 115gr and 124gr rounds, though most are considered hotter (S&B 115gr, Lawman 115gr and 124gr, Federal AE 124gr, Blazer Brass 124gr, HPR 115gr) than the UMC that you were shooting back in this video.
    A long time ago I personally found that Remington UMC is IMHO one of the lesser ammo types on the market; I've had problems with the stuff in 9mm and 45AUTO in a number of otherwise reliable handguns, including Glocks of multiple generations, 1911s, SIGs, M&Ps and CZs. I know of a customer who had a squib shooting that stuff; fortunately he recognized the problem immediately before squeezing off another shot and thus giving himself a really, REALLY bad day. Seems anything firearms-related tied to Freedom Group or Cerberus Capital these days is suspect. A shame, really.
    These days the only REAL problem I personally have with current Glocks is with rust, something that in the "good old days" was never an issue with the old, discontinued Tenifer steel treatment they once used. Really dislike having to constantly wipe down my IWB carry G23 nearly every day just to keep the slide from further pitting damage, something I never had to do with my old Gen3 G19 when I carried that one.
    With the Gen4 G19 in particular, the main problem is supply; I can't find them in any quantity ANYWHERE. No distributor seems to ever have any in stock, and I've had a backlog of customers who've been nagging me to get one (or more) in for them. If you have a reliable contact over at Smyrna, could you tell them to start pumping them out in far greater quantities? They don't seem to listen to dealers and their "gun counter commandos" :D very often, it seems. Maybe a RUclips 'rock star' might fare better. Much thanks...and keep your excellent vids coming.

    I have been through a lot of great guns to include HK, Sig, FN, CZ, SA, Steyr, Beretta, S&W, and Glock, and the Glock 19 Gen 4 is the absolute most perfect pistol for me. Now I love all the others, and I think they are fine guns, but I have tested them all to know for absolute sure the G19.4 is my gun. I guess it's true that your gun finds you rather than you finding your gun, and I've tried really hard to find a lot of other guns besides the Glock 19, but it is what it is. For me, this is the perfect EDC/GP gun made.

    Just purchased a Glock 17 gen 4 and a 19 gen 4 and shot the 19 today. All I got to say is what a gun! Very nice trigger and the stock sights are dead on. Feels real good in my hands and break down and cleaning is really too easy. Thanks for the great videos, they really helped me and my son out from decision making, purchase and shooting.

    Hey Hickok love your channel. I wanted to let you know I have a bad habit of buying the cheapest 9mm ammo available and I have never had any issues with any of my Glocks (Gen 3 or Gen 4) with feeding and ejecting. I agree with you totally that the Glocks are some of the most reliable polymer handguns available today. I love them.

    Thanks for this video. It was full of great information. I did not know about the 03 & 04 springs for the Gen 4 Glock 19. Mine is an 03. It started out having several misfeeds with Remington ammo. My wife had more trouble than I did. I just finished an IDPA match with my Gen 4 Glock 19. I ran several different types of ammo. No misfeeds. There could be something to the break-in period for the 03 spring. I also left the Glock lubricant in place at first. Each cleaning removes some of this.

    I think the Glock 19 handles great, although, I’ve had a Glock 48 before a 19 gen 3 now a gen 4. I have taken it apart to make sure all the numbers are up to date, but I have been getting odd ejecting issues. No failures but some brass to the face along with rain like brass being ejected. I checked the ejector as well as the extractor. Other than that being a little activating it’s very smooth and dependable.

    I just purchased a 19 gen4 yesterday. I have watched all of your videos on this firearm and I cannot wait to take it to the range tomorrow! Hopefully it will serve me well as I start my first competition ever in the Glock division. I trust everything you review and like. I know that I will be extremely pleased with this pistol. Thank you for taking all of this time to review it.

      You'll enjoy that pistol. Good choice on the Gen 4, too. If I were buying a new Glock for myself, it would definitely be a Gen 4, rather than a Gen 5, even if I had to pay more for it.

    I've put 600 rounds through my "03" sprung G4 G19 and I haven't had a single issue. I've been shooting UMC and WWB 115gr. No cleaning thus far and no issues. It's a case of getting what you pay for. I shoot cheap ammo for practice but I don't expect it to function like ammo that I pay $1 or more a round for. When I put this gun up after a range trip I don't leave a UMC loaded magazine in there. For PD, I use a very hot and capable PD round that will cycle. Keep up the great work Hickok45!

    Hey, So I have been dong scholastic pistol shooting events with my Venture crew here in Maine. I have only shot Smith and Wesson M&P 22lr. pistols in these events, but I have a chance to buy a Glock 9mm through the program for around half price. The models offered are model 17, model 19, and the model 34, all gen 4's. which one do you think might be the best choice?
