      9mm ammo.has a tendency to drill upon impact of say - a hind qtr. of beef , or the torso of a pedifile in flight from a cop - without doing much tissue damage as compared to a .45 cal. cartridge for example. you will tear that meat up a lot better if you'll go ahead and spend that extra money on some hollow point ammo. for the G-17 - in my humble opinion. Happy shootin' y'all!!!

I was never raised around the polymers but have fallen in love with a few of them latley. Simplicity is stylish to me, more accurate than I am and very practical. • @hickok45
      @hickok45  9 лет назад +32

      Yep. There are exceptions, of course, because no gun is perfect, but anybody who has a serious problem with the Glock usually bases it on looks or feels in their hands. OR, they have a serious problem with limp wristing and blame it on the firearm. I think that happens sometimes and not just with Glocks.

    Just some info I’ve acquired during Glock Armorer Training and use of my own Glock 17 Gen 4.
    • They now fire each gun 7 times and should include 2 of the shells in an envelope with the gun
    • They use Blazer AL in most of the common calibers.
    • The copper lube they use on the guns from the factory is no longer necessary and they stopped doing it for a while. There was one guy at the factory responsible for this. After they stopped, they got complaints and they stated applying it again. I think it had something to do with the change in finish from the Tennifer process to the Nitration process they use now.
    • They don’t recommend using nitrate based solvents, as it can discolor the Nitration finish. It can be fixed by merely rubbing in some gun oil. Otherwise they say you can use any lube or cleaner specified for gun use.
    • They do recommend that you field strip, clean and lube a brand new gun. They tell you not to take the copper off, but since it really isn’t required anymore, then it should hurt anything.
    • The only place you shouldn’t lube a Glock is inside the magazine and in the firing pin channel.
    • Out of my multitude of firearms, I have only 3 that have performed flawlessly, my G17, AK-47 and my S&W Model 66 and all with over a 1000 rounds or more through them. I have a pretty good AR, but I have had a few type II failures in the 1000 rounds I’ve shot through it.
    • I’ve taken apart almost every firearm I own and the Glock is by far the easiest and simplest firearm to field and detail strip and reassemble.
    One more thing, I don’t think people appreciate how good a shot you are. You make it look easy, but I know that what you make look so easy, is really hard for most people. Myself included.

    When I first saw a Glock pistol that a friend of mine bought when they first came out compared to a let's say Smith and Wesson 9mm. Or Colt , I thought the Glock looked like a Station Wagon compared to a Corvette! But over the years the look of the Glock 17 Gen 4 to me is a comparison to a Land Rover or a Military Hummer! The reason for that is because compared to "ALL" other gun's, a Glock will save your ass long after like you say a zombie apocalypse scenario is over and the other brands are being recycled into engine blocks! And I quote " They Just Shoot " And keep shooting and shooting and shooting!!! So needless to say, I think their a piece of engineering excellence. That's all I have to say about that.

    Great to stumble on this video. I was lucky enough to decide on a Glock 17 Gen 4 for my first pistol a little over 18 months ago. I chose Glock mainly because of their reputation for reliability and ease of breakdown and maintenance, being a novice and all. I say lucky because none of the gun shops in my area offered guns for rent before making a purchase decision.
    It's been a great treat to shoot. Out of the box I was able to put ammo downrange on center mass anywhere from 15' to 50 yds. One other Glock I've had the pleasure to shoot recently was the new G41 .45ACP. On a recent trip to Florida to visit a friend we decided to take a trip to a local indoor range that offered free rentals with an hr of paid range time & 100 rounds. The G41 has a dual stage recoil spring that does a great job managing kick and letting you get back on target quickly. Honestly, I think it hardly kicks more than my G17 9mm!
    As with my 17, I found I was able to put lead on paper/center mass from shot one. I hope to add the G41 to my collection soon. I'd like to see your review of the 41, if you haven't already done so.
    Lawrence Black

    I can’t thank you enough for this video! You are perfect in your presentation from the unboxing/cleaning to the end of video. Loved the history lesson on Glock. I’m thinking about buying a handgun (after 30 + years of a gun free household) for personal/home protection and have been doing some research on the best tools for that. Glock name and Glock 17 comes up in every article. I think you nailed it down for me! Thanks a million!

      For the money, it’s the best gun you can get. There are better out there like Kimber, but those cost an arm and a leg where you can get a GOOD pistol like a glock for around $500 and keep it for life.

    I love how he always clears them, like 24/7. Definitely sets a really good example of how to treat a firearm. And how he keeps the muzzle downrange always. I try and do follow his example when I’m shooting. I’m always alone when shooting but I still behave as though there’s a bunch of people near me, and keep it pointed in a safe place.

    I remember in the 80's seeing this gun for the first time and saying to the the guy behind the counter that I would never own a tupperware gun . Man did I eat those words . I bought a Gen 2 Glock 17 in the early 90's and never looked back. I love good revolvers and 1911's I would put this Glock 17 up against any gun made. Haters can Hate but I still love my Glock Especially my 17.

    I've been shooting a Glock 17 most of my adult life. It has always been rock solid and reliable for me. I have only had a couple of feed issues, which was actually caused by bad ammo.
    The ammo was old and not stored well. Some of it was sunk in to the casing. Some of it was tarnished and looked like shit. It was easily over a decade old and a few of the rounds just didn't have the kick to fully cycle the slide. Besides that, which was one time at a range and maybe 3 rounds, I've never had a problem with a Glock. (I own 3 of them at the moment.)

    • @silvershroud166
      @silvershroud166 3 года назад

      Exactly the same testament I have with mine. Three glocks for me as well, 17, 21, and 42. I love all three of them. Well my ammo wasn’t 10 years old, but it was low quality bulk ammo and just didn’t have enough pop to fully cycle the slide in 3/300 rounds but other than that no issues. My 21 has never given me a problem, and same with my 42.

    The thing I love about Glock handguns is they are designed to FUNCTION. They aren’t there to win a beauty contest…they are there to WORK.
    When I got my G17, I fully cleaned it before shooting it. That copper lubricant looks almost identical to copper anti-seize compound. It’ll lubricate the gun, but it isn’t a dedicated gun oil or grease (I use a combination of Hoppes oil on mine with MPRO7 gun grease on the slide rails).
    I have a Gen 3, have about 3K through it with no issues. When I clean it, I use an ultrasonic cleaner, so it still looks like new.
