When my daughter was getting braces, the doctor locked the door from the waiting room. When I asked for it to be unlocked, they refused. The receptionist told me I could not see my daughter so I threatened to go over the counter. We changed Orthodontists after my daughter said she didn’t like him and the nurse said no one goes in the room with him. Not havin’ it.

@@IAMEVIL315They were told beforehand that they were not allowed in the room; that's assuming they'll be in the way which is VERY strange: young kids often behave better in medical check ups or procedures if their parents are in the room with them, because their parents can reassure them that it will be okay.
Because of that, not allowing the parents to come in right from the start is a huge red flag in my opinion. The assumption that parents will get in the way only makes sense when the person doing the procedure is unprofessional and frequently gives parents a reason to intervene by not treating the kids well.
A small number of parents do get in the way when they shouldn't, those can get send out when they do that. And they can wait outside at following appointments.

By law, he can be suspended during the investigation. The ADA would be notified. They also have a say in the decision for suspension. This is usually (at the beginning) done as a leave of absence. If there is enough physical evidence; they'd then suspend him from actively seeing patients. From there it would be up to the DA to press charges; at this time his victim would need to be told. So she can get help in dealing with the trauma and possibly give evidence.

I don't want to scare you, but after I was assaulted as a kid, I overheard my mother say to the police "I have 5 daughters, it's not a matter of If, it's just When" and I felt so betrayed in that moment that she didn't warn me - that nobody warned me - that it caused me a lot of emotional and psychological trauma.
Please warn your daughter about this sort of thing, and do it younger than you think, younger than you want to. I was 9, and that year was the first year in school that we had sex-ed. thankfully I already knew at that age that what happened wasn't my fault and would never be my fault, but that's more my autism speaking than anything my parents or society instilled in me - in fact I remember having to constantly affirm that I knew it wasn't my fault to others when I spoke about it, which cast more doubt in my mind than the original incident (again likely the autism).
But yeah, just to make my point again; for me at least, not being warned felt like my mother didn't care about me enough to warn me, or assumed I would know how to handle it bc I was 'so mature for my age' etc, and it felt and still feels like the ultimate betrayal in our relationship.
Edit: I finished the clip (paused to type comment) and saw the mum talking about wanting to protect her innocence - I understand that, but at least for myself personally, I would rather have my parent gently peel back my innocence in a safe environment then have it brutally ripped away from me on a street corner surrounded by strangers, or in my house after the fact overhearing conversation about myself with the cops. Please, anyone who reads this; treat your kids like adults, with full autonomy and rights to information (in an age appropriate format) about what could happen. We talk about traffic safety and general stranger danger already with kids, but we don't talk about s*xual stranger danger with girls, and that's something I personally needed the most when I was a child.

I was given a quick acting sleeping medicine and no parent was allowed past the waiting room door. My mother told me about that when I was in my 30's. She added that she was able to hear me crying and sometimes screaming but the office staff wouldn't let her check on me. I have long been terrified of dentists and dentist offices. Even under a general anesthetic to get a needed root canal, a different dentist and the attending anesthetist said they had never seen anyone have the panic and defense behaviors I had even though completely out of it. For anyone who is wondering about how this will effect the girl's growth, sometimes it's the better option to wait. I was SA'd at 5 and I always thought it was a just a bad dream, until I was able to fully comphrend everything. I asked my parents when I was 16 if it really happened, and they never supressed the memory and told me it didn't happen growing up. Since I really thought it was a dream, I never asked about it. They were honest with me straight away. I had a feeling a very certain and important discussion was going to happen soon because they were worried I might be showing signs of remembering. It was still difficult to recover, but if I had to deal with that at such a young age I honestly don't know if I'd be here right now. One of the things that actually gave me a sense of releaf was realizing it didn't happen yesterday but over 10 years ago. It wasn't as fresh to me, and if I found out younger it would have been much harder for me to recover. I get why some people disagree, but the tramua will be adressed at the right point. Adressing trauma too early can make it more severe depending on the person. If it's not exasperated or added onto, there's not much concern in it getting worse if they wait a few more years to discuss it. Some parents truly know what's best for their kids and some don't. In this case, it would probably be best to tell her when she decides to become sexually active or when her brain is more developed.
