I love how you’re continually pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Public speaking, solo travels, tiny planes, zippers! You’re an inspiration beautiful lady ❤️🐞
You did an amazing job Catherine. I've made loads of these over the years and sold them for both myself and also for charity. My cat 'Charlie' likes to get involved with sewing... he unthreads the sewing machine and eats the thread... he's a toad lol. xxxxxxx
I’m so glad you iron your seams and fabric as you go, I do too, but I have seen so many tutorials where they don’t iron and it looks very untidy. Dainty work work is beautiful.
Hi Catherine. Big thumbs up for tackling zippers. The extra panel, you can make yourself a tote bag to use for the market or for when you’re riding around on your bike. You can also use it to upholster a chair or a pinboard or frame (a decorative piece your house). Jess ☺️
Both of my cats have made it their business to sit or sleep on my knitting projects. Oh those bags are brilliant. They'd make really cool gifts. I had a t-shirt that I converted into a bag when one of the straps got torn in the old washing machine we had. It was one of those tank style t-shirts, and it hangs off my computer chair. We don't throw away things that can get a second life here. Even old pillows and old pillow slips get reused. Both of our dogs have one each. As they weren't any good for us to sleep on anymore but our dogs think it's great.
Hi Catherine you are so clever transforming that beautiful skirt into those lovely bags. You did a wonderful job of them and your zippers turned out fine thank you so much for sharing xxxx
I have recently awakened my dormant sewing and crafting skills, and this project was fantastic! Well done! Also, I stopped what I was doing after watching this video to watch The True Cost on Netflix. What an eye-opener! I'm heading into my closet to see what can be re-purposed, repaired, and renewed. Thank you for the inspiration! Oh, and by the way, there is no project I tackle - whether it's making a bed, paying the bills, or sewing a button - without feline involvement. It's kinda like a rule. ;-)
I think you are amazing. You should have your own show. I love seeing what you are doing. I live in Toronto Canada....we have a beautiful vintage store here that sells old Tulle prom dresses. About 10 years ago I bought some on sale day and must daughter and I trimmed off the top and gathered the skirts and sewed them. A little lining and then sewed a rod pocket hem and hung them in her window. I stuffed the back with tissue paper to make them Fuller and billowy. They were really pretty and the soft colours we're too. I gave them to my friend a couple of years ago for her daughter. I also made a shower curtain from a gorgeous old tablecloth. You have a beautiful sense of colour and style and I love watching what you will make or do next. Bye for now. Catherine.
Love your little bags and the fact that you used a garment! The fabric is so lovely, and you have a thing for pinks, perhaps sew up a cushion from the remnant; it would be so “cute!”
Hello again! Loved the little bags. I used to make my late husband, shoe bags for traveling. Just a basic draw string bag long enough and wide enough to fit a pair in with their soles together. His old plaid shirts where good for that. I've also hung onto a couple and when I'm ready I'll make Christmas stockings from them.
Love love these darling bags and what a fantastic way to repurpose a skirt, perfect for makeup. I have a peasant skirt that I plan on making a couple of sofa pillows out of so wish me luck. This was a fun video. My cat Precious sits in a chair next to me whenever it's time to eat, she's a little rascal. 😼😘
They say you can't teach an old new tricks. Well...you just did! I have been sewing since I was 10 or 11 ( I am now 66) and I never thought to stop sewing before I got to the end of the zipper and do it your way so I wouldn't get a wavy line! Thank you so much and I love your channel and your home!
@@DaintyDiaries yes it is both relaxing and fulfilling at the same time! I also crochet, which eminates the same feelings! Unfortunately, I have tendonitis in my rt wrist (my dominant hand, of course, so none of that for a while!
Hi Dainty iam so impressed with all your marvelous ideas being so young you are an inspiration to many young girls may God continue to bless you with many more😌😌😌😌
Dear girl- writing from the USA - and your recommendation of the Netflix documentary The True Cost- was great! I just finished watching and am deeply saddened by what I saw. So bravo to you for the recommendation and the upcycling of your skirt. I will be much more conscious of my clothing purchases. Thanks again!!!
These are so cute. You did an amazing job of showing how to put the zipper in. You made it look so easy. I too have a fear of zippers so after seeing this I'm not so afraid. I think I'll try this 💕💕💕 Thank you so much for sharing with us 😍 You're so cute 💕💕💕
Beautiful Fabric, Talented Young Lady. Window Curtain Panels, Table Runners, Pillows any thing imaginable could be made from this lovely fabric also. You were so informative. Thank you
Catherine, you did it again. What a great inspiration you are and a lovely model for young 'uns today. I watch your videos every week. I have 2 dogs and they watch everything I do. They particularly like being on their beds under the desk when I am creating cards. xxx
*WHOA! Excellent demonstration, clear visuals (and beautiful!) with very clear explanations!* Your finished work looks totally professional and I'd be so proud to have made those. :) I'm now inspired to make a bag with a zipper...I've also been putting off that particular aspect of my bags, lol.
Just loved your tutorial. The Cath Kidston fabric is divine ! It’s very hard to come by here in Australia. I upcycle clothing in my craft room all of the time. Feels so great to be reusing things in this disposable society. Thanks again for sharing and great job on the zip ! Fee x
Hi there I'm a bit behind on your videos which is great as I have so many to watch now 😀 but I share your fear of sewing the zip so I'm looking for some time to do this with your video. You're really cheerful to watch and I'm loving the way you don't make everything perfect you just have a go and learn as you go! It's really inspiring 🙌 🥰 thanks x
Catherine, you did a fantastic job on your pouches. Zipper may be a little challenging but adding a small piece of fabric to each end will make them more professional. I watch on ‘you tube’, a lady from England who makes a lot of bags. Her name is Debbie Shore. Check her out. She is easy to follow and she has different ways of putting in a zip. I have been sewing most of my life. My Mom told me that I was 9years old when she taught me how to make my first simple dress. I have been sewing for almost 70 years. My husband just bought me a baby lock Aria for Christmas. I also have the baby lock Elizabeth. I spend a lot of time in my sewing room. I absolutely see a lot of wonderful sewing projects in your future. You are a natural. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
Wow Catherine this is a great way to upcycle. Placing the zips in plus mastering this technique,is so commendable. So good to see transformation. They can be used for a number of things. So inspirational.I saw Stacy Dooleys documentary! Clear and precise instructions. Your bags turned out lovely. It’s not easy to do the zip ( we call it a zip here in London) but you did a very good job. Love the fabric too. 🌺
Bravo on your first zipper!!! I know the feeling and fear of doing my first zipper. The bags are adorable. 🌸 You could use the fabric for a pin board.
