They have a tradition of killing off their old selves in a way.. they did it sort of in the psychosocial video, burning their old masks to bring out their new selves and their new masks. They did the same for this video.

People that are close to people that die in circumstances similar to Paul's death have all sorts of questions within themselves, "why'd they do it, what could I have done to stop this, why didn't they talk to me about any of this" etc. It's a shitstorm of emotions, which Slipknot continually portray beautifully

Slipknot fan here. For starters Paul died and corey and the band took it extremly hard. Corey cried getting his memorial tattoo for him. I've met corey 12 times now to date, hes amazing. I've seen them 40 something times. This song is a very close to home song seeing I've met them many times and got the chance to meet Paul. Their music got me through 5he scariest years of my life. My first concert was slipknot at 11 years old. Their music continues to save me from my inner demons from ptsd. I hope you read lyrics of his not just from slipknot but from his side band stone sour. Hes a very raw emotional artist. The song snuff is so heavy on the emotions. I'd react to that one if you want to hear his raw emotions come through. Hes a rock god

The video concept is essentially them shedding their skin, moving forward. Each album cycle they change their their look and their masks.... so when they were dying, it was them in their old masks from the previous cycle... and they are wearing their new masks when they are playing their instruments. So it really is them moving forward and their new album.
Just in case Alex isnt aware, they lost one band member to death (paul, bassist) and another band member to various reasons (joey, drummer). If you notice, the two new band members have basically the same masks, but they are based off the old members masks, just blanked out with burlap and stuff, because at the time they were like "fuck these guys what gives them the right". The ritual killing of them was a mark of acceptance, because as they were killing themselves, they were bringing the new band members in with them to the new phase.

FIRST, also this album is from .5 the grey chapter. Paul Grey is the member that we lost a few years ago. also the video has all the members showing parts of them facing there fears. aka the dog biting, the blown up, the birds, so on so forth. the masks were origonally worn to protect there identity so they wouldn't be able to be recognized in public, and being metal they are also a form of art for them to express.

The Devil In I was the first Slipknot song that I heard and I was a fan after the first chorus. That was in 2016. Now 4 years later, next month I will attend my first ever Slipknot concert.
Give his girl some credit. First time I heard this song it took me to a place I didnt even know how to emotional react to. All I can say is this song made me a slipknot fan. More so Corey Taylor's vocals. You can hear the sorrow in his voice.

Andre I have to say there is no way of easing anyone into disasterpiece. Now I am a maggot so I love anything they put out. But if you want to ease someone into hard in your mouth slipknot people=shitt in my opinion is the way to go before listening to disasterpiece. Because if you are a die hard fan most people that don't listen to metal are going to give disasterpiece a bad rap for sure because the song was written to basically to blow your mind. Just think back when you listened to the Iowa album you where mind blown by people, then disasterpiece started and you where gone. Or at least I was hell it's still one of my favorite albums along with the gray chapter which they showed a different side. So all I was saying is do killpop, snuff she will love them songs and videos then when she is digging the knot and wants more give her people if she digs that disasterpiece would be next.
