11 years later, still the best show I’ve ever seen. The energy, the set list, being a part of that crowd, all unparalleled. If I had a time machine I’d go back to it in a heartbeat. I still watch the full show from time to time, and still get goosebumps.

I only just found Alex on RUclips and I've been watching his older videos to see what his journey to becoming a metal head was like. When I saw this video it sent shivers down my spine. I was at that Download gig and this brought back all those memories.
Slipknot gigs are crazy intense and the sensation of adrenaline, aching thighs from crouching and thumping heart from the anticipation of waiting for that jump is unreal. I have been to some otherworldly feeling gigs and every time I've seen slipknot it's been a whole other level.
This gig is also special as slipknot have been one of my favourite since I was 13 and this gig was the first time I ever saw them live. I was 22 (I'd been waiting so long lol). Unfortunately Paul Grey would die the following year and I was so so fortunate to see him perform before he died.
It's amazing looking back at this video and seeing the intensity of what I felt from an outside perspective and also seeing Alex's reaction to the crowd I was in. There were somewhere between 90 and 100 thousand people there that night.
Download is an amazing festival. I went there 11 years in a row and got to see some amazing gigs. I saw Corey Taylor perform in 2010 with stone sour just 1 month on from losing Paul Gray and he was so strong and had the whole crowd in tears. He started crying on stage because he didn't even need to sing Bother or Through Glass because the crowd literally sang it for him. It was incredible and heartbreaking but so warm at the same time.

I've seen these boys live many many times and they are one of the best bands and shows to see live. The crowd is insane but they look out for you if you are in the middle. Would highly recommend seeing them

The disaster pieces one was so much better, which is what Corey was talking about when he said "you know what to do". Cid the DJ went into the crowd to force people to kneel. They ended up ripping his boiler suit to pieces by grabbing him ... to get them off, Cid started swinging on people while forcing them to kneel.
Got back on stage, mooned the whole crowd 'cos his suit was in tatters, flipped everyone off, then Corey did what he did here.
I can just imagine years later people saying to their kids "look, daddy is getting his ass kicked by a member of his favourite band!"

I've seen Slipknot live, twice. They blew me away both times. I've also seen Stone Sour live (the lead vocalists other band), and they were great live too. Corey Taylor, vocals, pumps up crowds like no other. Slipknot is no where near the top of my favorite bands list, but seeing them live is on a level above anyone else I've seen.

Not stopping is always in the back of their minds but I think it was just a general thing rather than a plan.
That would be pretty cool, can't wait for the next album but I think maybe Corey was referencing that it took them 10 years to get to the top of the bill of Download Festival. Would be awesome if they headlined it next year with a new album to promote 😁🤘
It's a thing he does at shows. First time through it's five years (like the original recording) sencond time through its ten years. Saw him do it in 2012 and again in 2014.
it's a thing he does at concerts i think. i saw them in 2016 and he sang "seventeen years" since at that point it had been 17 years from the release of the song
While that's interesting, it's completely coincidental. For many shows, he says the years it's been since the first Slipknot album, that released in 1999. This was performed in 2009, hence he says 10 years. They also had a 10 year anniversary reissue of the original album released in 2009. If you look at other performances, he says differing numbers, all referencing how many years since 1999 at that point in time.
There truly is no better feeling than being at a slipknot concert. You can tell everybody on stage is there because they love the music and crowd. Corey can control a crowd like no other. Plus being apart of spit it out is just magical
wasn't at this download show but I've seen Slipknot 3 times, seeing them a 4th time next month (and just as excited as if I'm seeing the first time) they do this each time and it never gets old. the energy in their audience is insane. it's beautiful 🥲

There’s no other place you can experience such shit.
These guys can put on a goddamn show. I've seen them live a few times, but my favorite was definitely in Phoenix in 2016. Corey Taylor broke his neck, so a few of the shows toward the beginning of the tour got moved. The one I went to was delayed by over 2 months. Then on the day of the show a damn storm (in a city that rarely sees rain) moved in. After the first act left the stage, we were told there was lightning and had to wait for the storm to pass before continuing. I believe we waited around for about 2 hours (the excess alcohol during the wait makes time fuzzy) but the show did finally continue and it was amazing. Even with a broken neck, that man is electrifying. The show didn't end until around midnight when it should have been over before 10.
Anywho, the moral of this story, you need to watch them live. Word is, they should have a new album out next year. So they should tour next year or the following. I challenge you to catch a show of theirs, film some snippets and post them here along with your reaction of the show.
Trust me, you will love it!

i love love love coming back to this vid. Not only was this my first ever time at Download but also first ever time seeing Slipknot live. It was insane. No other Slipknot show has compared to this. No other Download has compared to this (Download 2020 may have just beat it but sadly was cancelled). It scary to think this was over 10 years ago now, feels like yesterday.
The reason I watch this vid instead of just the song is that Alex's reaction remind me of my own but turned up to the max while I was in that crowd.

Seen Slipknot 3 times. My last show I saw I was on rail and it was a dream come true. They put one of the best shows.
I know I’m late but I’ve seen them once and it was one hell of a spectacle. I’ve never been more tired exhausted and feeling euphoric than I have after their set. Best band I’ve seen live, unreal. I was in the front row of the crowd that broke this record a year later.

I've seen Slipknot live three times and I've done this exact move every time and it is so hype I can't even describe it. That shit is LIFE CHANGING when you're in the pit and Corey says Jump The Fuck Up. Taking my ass outta those shows in a body bag cuz I just get ripped to shreds. It's so worth seeing them live.

First time i ever heard slipknot was at ozzfest 99 in vancouver. We just came out of the slayer pit made our way to the second stage to rest. Then they announced this brand new band and 9 guys came out in clown outfits and we were like wtf is this they opened with surfacing....
They do that at every concert, I saw them live a couple years ago and it was the greatest experiences of my life. They are unreal live
Saw them a few times, indescribable to say the least. Nobody left with any sort of energy to speak of. Wiped out and spent from hrs of extreme vibes and involuntary spasming that crept through you.
