Saw them in 96 at NightBeat in Charlotte. I had never actually felt the wave of sound physically hit me until they lit into Malaga. Still gives me chills.
Hey look it’s the one year that everyone complains about the Cavies winning and I’m just in the corner, refusing to state my opinion because it will trigger majority of the DCI fans on the internet.
Cavs started all this modern dance and classical music with that 95 show. I know they did it in 85 but this was the year that started it all. And i loved the cavs that year. I’m partial to Madison in my older age now. The 95 show was the best show that’s ever been run onto a field. Makes my hair stand up on my neck every time I see it.
Curtis Lenox In my opinion, Malaga was the far and way the best part of this show. It’s damn good, and possibly better than any 3 minute segment from 95 Cavies, but as a whole, 95 Cavies is just a better, more consistent, well designed, excellently written show. The brass book, while nothing ground breaking, was very cohesive and tight (props to Gustav Holst making it easy for them). Meanwhile, Scouts has one of the most hype moments of the decade in its closer, but just not enough substance in the rest of the show.
I’m a Madison alum (70s), but I have to agree about the Cavs. Their visuals matched up so well with the book that you could turn the sound off and know the mood of the music by watching the visuals. And Cavies visuals were the best of that era.
@@barrypelham3237 Yes sir. 3rd from the left from our point of view. If I recall correctly he joined early during the season in 94 when Jon injured his knee and was out for the summer. Heard this directly from 2 friends who aged out in 93 and 94. This has been a minute, so I'm sure someone will correct me on the details if I'm wrong.
All the homies bumping Ice Cube & 2 Short and there I was with a 95 Finals CD I yoinked at a house party praying to God I don't blow the speakers out in my dad's car.
Man, still can’t believe we only got EIGHT standing ovations during that show. Seems a little low if you ask me. 😝
Ah, the early to mid 90s, when DCI shows would peel your face off. Those were the days.
David Fisk miss those days
My mate at the front with the screamin soprano's! What a legend Tez, it still gives me goose bumps all these years later man.

Nothing mellow about their show. Definitely not a funeral march.
