    Thanks for the great videos and especially for the direct video file download. I have two Skydio 2 drones reserved and your videos confirm the quality they produce. There is some jerky strobe-like motion on your and other Skydio 2 RUclips videos during high speed or rapid camera rotations which concerned me. However, your downloaded video show none of the jerky motion which confirms that it is an artifact of RUclips processing and compression rather than the Skydio 2 itself. Can't wait! Hurry up, Skydio! Best video yet of Skydio 2. That beacon really makes it easy to adjust the shooting angles.
    Are these true statements for the following time stamps:
    6:00 - So when the AI says I don't know how to get back to following you, the S2 will just hover and await your next command.
    11:25 - So a slower orbital speed means it will continue orbiting at a slower ground speed of the tracked subject and conversely a faster orbit speed will give you an orbit shot at a slightly faster ground speed for the subject being tracked? An interesting behavior is if the tracked subject is traveling too fast the drone reverts to a follow me mode (still in "orbit" mode though) and then automatically continues on to the orbit shot once you slow down or stop, no manual switching on the beacon required.
    Observations (from downloaded file): Smoother follow me shots are possible by knowing ahead of time where potential obstacles are that would cause the drone to navigate around and adjusting the altitude ahead of time. For example, I know this trail has small branches at the 20 foot level but not above 30 feet the altitude would then be set to below 20 or higher than 30. Certain colors really pop on those overcast day shoots. Are you able to adjust the colors easily?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  4 года назад

      Thanks!
      6:00 - So this was actually interesting. I think there might have been a few things going on here, mainly I suspect the Beacon didn't have complete GPS lock - so it might actually have not known my position. It was showing virtually no GPS signal.
      11:25 Correct, it'll orbit up till approx 20MPH, and then it'll fall to 'behind' mode. After it catches back up and your speed falls below threshold - it'll go back to orbiting.
      General: I'm still a bit fuzzy on how much I can push the altitude in tree scenarios - it doesn't quite seem as flexible as I'd like it to be (compared to something like the Airdog). I think there's lots of potential there though for easy tweaks via software to the beacon. I haven't tried color correcting, but in about 2-3 mins I'll put the link up to the actual original file for one of them (the one seen in 6:00).

    Thank you for making the footage available for download. It actually has the same compression issues with artifacting, sharpness and color banding that the last video had. There's really not a big difference between the video on RUclips and the downloaded footage.
    Maybe it's just me and my quality standards are too high, but I don't consider this high definition. I do believe that a lot of the problems come from compression and that the camera itself could actually do a better job.
    For example, the first scene where you're cycling. You can clearly see the grass on the ground color shifting and banding in the distance and only turn into individual leaves when they come closer. Then there's heavy artifacting around everything that is mixed static and moving. Like for example the handlebars on the bike or the edges of your cloth.
    The same goes for waves on the water in the distance.
    Is it possible to use a higher quality compression on the Skydio 2, at the expense of file size?

    DC Rainmaker - Please help,
    Does the Skydio 2 support 10-bit or 8-bit?
    I've asked Skydio multiple times and they won't give a straight answer.
    It's not on the spec sheet, there is nothing about 10-bit listed there.
    Months ago some news announcements said 10-bit, but since there's nothing on the spec sheet, I have to assume it's 8-bit.
    If it's actually 10-bit, they are really messing up with the marketing.
    We can't even find out if it has it or not.

    • @Skydio
      @Skydio 4 года назад +4

      We're currently looking into 10-bit, but it won't be available for first customers as it requires some tuning. This is why you haven't seen us talk about it publicly, it's still something we are working on and will hopefully be available in the future software update.

      I haven't tried tracking with boats/etc, unfortunately, I lack one. My guess is if you find footage of Skydio 1 tracking boats, you'll be totally fine on Skydio 2. Perhaps the Skydio folks could chime in. The one caveat I'd note is that I'd definitely get the remote control for it - mainly so you've got the ability to get it back if it or you go out of phone/visual range.

    With this technology it makes no sense at all to have all the motor activity in the Peloton that we currently see. It's unsafe for the riders, it's unsafe for the spectators, and unsafe for the cars and motorbikes themselves. The action we could see would be an improved experience for watching too. Our News sources are converting to this instead of having Helicopters flying in the sky because it's more cost effective and gets better footage. It only makes sense for bike race governing bodies to change the rules but those dickheads won't do it unless we speak loudly enough. This stuff is awesome DCR, hopefully it enlightens more people to the possibilities.
