So whether they are practicing or not is immaterial, what matters is what they believe, and adherence to Islam generally tends to be far greater than any other religion. There definitely is something going on with the fact that such a large majority of bad actors across the globe tend to be from Islamic backgrounds. I won't go so far as to saying Islam is the reason, correlation isn't causation, and Islam being the second largest religion inherently means that a majority of its adherents are just ordinary decent people, BUT there is something going on with the more extreme factions of Islam that are more prone to violence than extreme factions of almost any other religion. And that needs to be acknowledged if we ever hope to understand and possibly mitigate it.

I just left sweden after living there 20 years and moved back home to Australia. One town I lived in for 7 years is called Bro, just 40 min NW of Stockholm. The crime there was nuts. Shootings and stabbings in the next door buildings and massive explosions going off caused by rival gang feuds every few months. Car-jacking shootings on top of that. Sweden has always been too weak on crime. I seriously don't think the Swedish government has the balls to the make the required changes. I wish them luck

If it goes to the left things are more complicated.
Both the Left Party and the Social Democrats have a strong voter base in lower income people.
The Social Democrats are a bit anxious about loosing voters in the problem areas if they get though on them, as well a having to cater to the Left Party to be able to form a government.
The Left Party has traditionally been soft on these types of crimes, attributing the problem to social economic factors instead.

"Swedes of Arab origin" are not Swedes.
That is legally incorrect as the definition of whom is an X national is based on legal definition, nothing else. Thus, different countries have different definitions on what makes a national or what status as a national you can archieve. For instance, you have to be born in the US to reach certain office, even though you can be a citizen legally. Overall, every nation defines these things dramatically different, as there is no magical supreme law written in nature on these things.
Thus, an Arab who settles in Sweden can be granted citizenship by therir government, making them legally Swedish while being culturally far removed. They dont even need to know the language if the Swedish government doesnt think that matters. Its what the Swedish people wanted, so thats what they got.
You know you are lying. They are culturally not Swedish obviously, but they are exactly "Swedes of Arab origin" and Swedes by the very definition of law if they have Swedish citizenship. In fact it's a very good description that gives context when talking about this, rather than saying "Swedes" only.

Their behavior is not based on Swedish values (which created the brand "Sweden"), rather on their previous national culture, hence doesn't make sense to call them with the new name.
EU had another perspective when structured naturalization laws (also the name says it all): first integration, then passport. Which in this case the first step didn't happen. That's why it should be revoked and the immigrants properly named.

But it should be kept in mind that these people are EUROPEANS, who want to work and make a good living from their work, and they left their problems in the countries they came from. The Swedes screwed themselves and naively thought they could bring people from any part of the world from countries stuck in the Middle Ages where tribal rules still apply.

I studied with them and all of them were great folks. One of them even managed to study law in Polish, which would be an acrobatic task for any foreigner. But none of them came randomly, everyone had to pass exams and get a security screening and visa. This is very different than this youth from Sweden originating from war-torn countries or their parents, and with zero education and weak chances on a labor market.

We had a 20 year old girl just recently in Sweden who was a hired hitman and received a life sentence for a brutal murder after shooting a 17 year gang member in the face multiple times. She was Thai. We have also had other hitmen being Asian, so it does happen in Sweden.
East/south Asia is far away. So Europe wouldn't be the first destination for them and only the well-educated and mostly well of people from there will come to Europe. Last WWII survivors already passed away. Very few people remember poor times just after the War. For the native people in Western Europe peace and prosperity is something obvious and given forever.

But we were lucky in that the single-use party of hard-line anti-immigration was voted for that reason into the parliament and they stopped the unchecked flood into Finland. So we have fewer immigrants per capita then other Nordic countries.

This is finally improving thou im very glad to say. Some recent verdicts of two young killers aged 16 has resulted in 12 and 8 years in jail respectively. Its not enough in my opinion but its a step in the right direction whereas any time in a youth facility is a joke for such a crime. The standard before was 4 years there but those places ability to hold the criminals are very poor leading to them becomming a recuriment ground for the gangs.

That's not really true. It's now much harder to be granted citizenship, and since it's usually impossible to deport these criminals without breaking various human rights conventions, Sweden is actually paying migrants a substantial amount of money to just leave.
Punishments for lots of crimes are harsher, but a problem is that the prison system is overloaded so it's difficult to actually imprison criminals.
It's a terrible situation that was 100% predictable (lots of people, me included, have said this would happen for around 20 years). It's self-inflicted, and very hard to solve.
Crime and migration was the top election issues of the general election 2022 tho. Which resulted in the most conservative government in modern Swedish history being voted in, that is very active in tightening migration, increasing penalties and giving more tools for police to stop crime.
For example house searches without warrants, wire-tapping and stopping/searching people on the streets without suspicion of crime, criminalizing gang affiliation and abolishing reduced sentencing for young people - alongside increasing the number of CCTV and police officers quickly. But also achieving a net negative migration rate for the first time since the 1970s, achieving the lowest levels of asylum applications since 1997 (While its at 2015 levels in the rest of Europe), cutting UN quota migrant numbers from 5000 to 500 per year, doubling or tripling demands on citizenships, working on constitutional changes to revoke citizenships for criminals/terrorists with dual citizenships and now suggesting so called “remigration” via paying migrants to leave and increasing deportations.
So there is some hope at-least and work is in progress. Seen in the mentioned record low migration numbers 2023/2024 and a noticeable reduction in crime this year compared to 2022/2023 due to many new laws and tools for police being implemented on January 1 2024 - which has been successful in stopping many shootings and grenade attacks, for example via much more wire tapping and spying on encrypted chats.
UK has to have something similar we tried the anti FGM law so that doctors had to report it. Then there is the 35% 1st cousin marriage which should be cracked down on. All Shariya courts should be banned. All women of zloomic faith / background should show their face in public.
Measures need to be taken urgently.

It depends on the area of Sweden he was from. Problems are mainly in Malmö and Stockholm, but some other bigger places as well. If he was from a more rural area, he wouldn't have experienced much crime or heard about it from the neighbourhood.

Compared to most European countries there is very low levels of theft, muggings, crazy crackheads assaulting or chasing you, vandalism and other everyday crime that affect normal people. The problem in Sweden is the organized gang crime, shootings and bombings targeting other criminals - but in recent years also affecting criminal’s family members and innocent people living in the same apartment building or neighborhood that can get affected, injured or even killed. The latter is still very rare - but it affects the psychology of society and in a very valid way makes lots of people scared for their lives.

Sweden was used to be one of my favorite countries. What you have done Sweden..
To be clear, this phenomenon is highly specific to certain local areas. Most neighbourhoods in Sweden remain extremely safe, compared to many other urban areas in Europe.
I just love hove educated people guess if is or if it's not imigrants responsible for crime.
But they are not enough educated to simply look in which area crime happens and what's nationality people are living there. But again, you could be called racist by educated elites if you do that.
the whole case has to be simply the clearest case of ungratefulness and incompatibility. As i Norwegian i hate that the swedes got to choose the premises of our future security aswell.
If you stay out of the crime-ridden areas of Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen, you will more than likely be safe. Except Malmö, no one wants to go there...
Unfortunately that's not the case in Sweden. Even small towns have issues such as shootings and bombings now.
A bit naive to think it will stay limited to the major cities.
@@framek5736 Well nothing really happens in the Norwegian countryside. Most people move to the bigger cities because of terrible weather conditions, and you are more likely to get a better job in Oslo.
