The Karrar is an Iranian main battle tank. The tank was announced in 2016. At the announcement, it was stated that it possessed an electro-optical fire control system, a laser rangefinder, ballistic computer and could fire at both stationary and mobile targets in day or night.
The Karrar was announced following failed negotiations to obtain a licence and the technology to produce Russian T-90MS tanks. It is based on the Soviet-made T-72, and attempts to incorporate elements of the T-90, American M1 Abrams, and British Challenger 2. However, it is believed to be inferior, and has been described as "little more than an upgraded T-72 with some additional indigenous components and aesthetic flourishes modeled after the T-90MS". Despite its visual similarity to the T-90, Iran has rejected any alleged Russian collaboration in the project.
It's being manufactured at the Bani Hashim Defense Industrial Complex.

With all the sanctions, this is impressive! Say what you want, India took more than 20 years to get their own tank out. Even that, it is not indigenous with parts from all over the world. For defence purposes on Persian ground, it will fare well. Americans will be in for a surprise if they decide to attack Iran. The Iran now far exceed the Iraq then. The Babylon then did fall in the hands of the Persian-Medes empire. You wonder how the new Babylon aka USA will fall? So I’d say what most likely happened was Russia have Iran licensed production of the t90 but putin said to have “pulled out” from the plan which probably wasn’t true and Iran last minute decided it wanted a even more powerful tank so it just used the t90 blueprints it recived and asked Russia for more modern tech to build its own version of a fully upgrade t90

Its disappointing that it looks like carbon copy of T-90M. I hoped they would have some unique looking tank. Iranians should learn a thing or two from North Koreans and their cool looking tanks.
Modernized T90. Much intelligent, very brain. At least they designed it with blowout panels to help with the ammo stored in the turret bustle.

@@soldat2501 According to a study by the Russians most of the turret ejection happens when the ammo around the turret gets hit, so moving the ammo to a bustle rack with blowout panels will reduce the chance of a ammo cookoff leading to a turret ejection, though the ammo in the carousel still posses survival issues. The only fix to this problem is creating a bustle autoloadder
Don’t think think it could defeat the current Abrams or the German’s Panther , but Iran is getting up there and I highly doubt that any of these tanks will ever met on the battlefield, plus it really comes down to the crew manning these tanks

Iran looks weak because of its old fighter planes, even though all of its radar and avionics have been upgraded. This is because Iran has not yet finished building a bigger turbofan engine for an aircraft of the Sukhoi 35 or F 15 class. But Iran's plans are not until 5 years from now they will be able to make a bigger turbofan engine.

Sorry no tank in the world has 5 crew no one sence WW2 has 5 today tanks has 4 or 3 crew.
Not to be disrespectful or anything, but all I see here is another variant of the T-72, which by itself is already proven to be an aging and obsolete tank. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has proven that this traditional tank design doctrine is obsolete no matter how many upgrades you shove into it. Design limits how far upgrades can improve a tank and the T-72 does poorly here.
So in conclusion, I personally find the Karrar to be just another fancy variant of the T-72 which poses no threat other than the fact that it has a gun.
The T-72 of Iraq is leagues behind the Karrar, most modern MBT rely on high tech optics such as thermal sights, which the T-72 was severely lacking on the US-Iraqi war. Karrar with those upgrades would make them a threat to any MBT on the field, provided he hits the weakspot with the first shot.

This tank doesn't share anything with western design. Infact this tank is based off of that of the T90ms. This tank isn't even a new tank. It is a t72s with added era and some upgrades to make it look like a new tank, when it isnt.
