Hey spare parts army, here's where I post my hooah photos from Iraq: instagram.com/cappyarmy/ Here's where I tweet my deepest darkest thoughts: twitter.com/Cappyarmy
The funny part is that the same happened with both France and Australia. A French guy uploaded the schematics of the french tank turret to prove it could turn faster than it happened in the game of World of Tanks and an Australian guy posted on 4chan the entire blueprints of their newest submarine but nobody opened the link and just called OP "fake and gay".
Don't forget the first leak of War Thunder... British guy leaking the armor values of the Challenger 2 to convince the devs that they were wrong in-game.
Back in the 90's I was in Israel. I was talking to an Israeli tank driver. I mentioned the fact that the Israeli Merkava was the most crew survivable tank because of it's internal fire extinguishers activated when a shell penetrates (what's the military term for this). He was shocked and asked 'how do you know this'? I told him I used to make plastic model kits and this information was included in the kits instructions. Not as serious as the leaked info on the new Chinese due to a video game, but, it happened in the past.
Jane's Fighting Ships has been famous for having secret specs on military ships for well over hundred years. I don't even know if still done but in past often more accurate than intelligence agencies. Humans suck at keeping secrets. Thus I'm glad I'm confirmed now on the world governments were hiding how little they knew about Unidentified Flying Objects. Although Phenomena a better term as the object actually flying not proven.
Most people never consider the usefulness of photographic intelligence. Take the bolt on ERA panels - the size of the bolt holes visible (4 per panel) gives an indication of bolt diameter and this gives an idea regarding the relative tensile strength of those bolts which, in turn, allows you to estimate the maximum load that they are capable of supporting on a moving tank, which allows you to work out the maximum weight or mass of each panel and estimate the amount of explosive that each could theoretically carry, which allows you to determine exactly how effective each panel is when triggered and possibly the speed at which they detonate, which allows you to determine what is required to defeat them. Whew! The dimensions of the roadwheels also help here, because they help in estimating the maximum weight or mass of the tank which tells you something about its mobility, where it can travel on its tracks or by truck, which bridges it can use, etc., The videos help a lot too.
I am a War Thunder player. This is the fifth leak. There were two leaks about the Tiger attack and utility helicopter, the Challys armor, the Leclercs turret traverse and now ZTZ-99As round. The best is: The leaked penetration data isn't even implemented in game because the dev Gaijin now can't do it anymore without looking bad to the MOD of several states.
@@davidty2006 If i would have some documents that wouldn't risk my live or the lives of people that I value more I would upload them anywhere else and then cite them in forum.
I've always wondered how that's handled. I mean, like, surely there is a time frame, right? Like, sure, they don't want to encourage leakers so they won't just use leaked data, but at the same time after it's been a couple years and the actual specs of the technology is just publicly known, does the game just keep using wrong information because "well technically it was first discovered by someone leaking it here"?
It must be such a hassle designing a realistic computer game then having the players constantly leak state secrets just to demand you fix the stats of the units.
I can just imagine the arguments on game forums. A Chinese player finally lost his shit and so leaked state secrets. He may have won the argument but he now has a future of a slow painful death. I just hope it was worth it.
Model makers are seemingly smart guys. There was a Russian bomber, that had never had pics with its gear down. The model-makers guessed on the configuration---they were proved to be correct.
The irony of our propaganda is that the Chinese are both war mongers and yet their equipment/military is criticized for being not battle tested. Any smartass out there would easily pick out this contradiction, but for our blinded sheeple in America - we swallow such propaganda whole
I was a tanker in 1st Tank Battalion just before being disbanded. We do have snorkels for the Abrams. We don't have one for the commander's hatch as far as I know. But we had one that was mounted on the exhaust and had a cord to the driver once you got onto the beach. We had water ops in Pendleton. They were supposed to be waterproof with hatches closed. "Supposed to be".
The CIA just doesn't post their findings on the internet. We've got no idea what the CIA knows. Hell, they only recently told us they knew Russia would invade Ukraine before it happened.
Here's a Fun Fact. Apparently there has been at least 7 or 8 leaks in the War Thunder Forums(at least from what I known or heard of). The most famous of this are the UK's most modern MBTs the Challenger 2 and France's Leclerc and at present the Type 99. The others are something that I personally unsure of such as allegedly an M1 Abrams armor package and a German Eurocopter Tiger(or maybe it was an entirely different line of Eurocopter I dunno). Remember Folks, crashing your countries Operational & National Security is definitely worth it in order to win an argument on the Internet!
IIRC, War Thunder introduced the Abrams in-game just as the armor composition of its first-gen version was declassified, so people tend to confuse them together
Dear Cappy, we here at the CCP are delighted to hear you have taken an interest in our superb tank designs and are thrilled you’ve shared it with the world. Please remain at your current location. An education squad is on its way to teach you more about our glorious military technology. Sincerely President Xinnie the Pooh
A few important aspects you missed out on. 1. The reverse gear is much faster than Soviet designs and matches western reverse speeds 2. It features neutral steering letting it turn faster in the spot, also unlike Soviet designs. 3.Reported but unconfirmed to have -7 to -8 degrees of gun depression making it more effective over ridge lines and defilades than Soviet and older Chinese counterparts. The only weakness seems to be the carousel style auto loader but differing tactics like you discussed can mostly degate this disadvantage such as only engaging at range. Would not be surprised if a version of the 99 or a new tank with a bustle style auto loader is introduced in the next 5-10 years. Edit: the type 15 light tank already uses a bustle style autoloader meaning that development of a 125mm version shouldn’t be too difficult.
Carousel is not a bad solution. It is very difficult to hit ammunition placed low on the floor. The problem with Russian tanks is that after the carousel the ammunition is everywhere else in the tank. Each armor penetration ignites one of the shells, which then ignites all the other shells including those in the carousel.
@@orkako Additional new insensitive propellant would dramatically improve crew safety. As such propellant remains stable even after being hit. Thus preventing chain detonation of the magazine.
Just imagine some Pentagon official hearing about these classified documents from his kid who plays War Thunder and him sprinting to the computer to screenshot them before they get deleted lol
The drama here is the leak source claimed that he managed to get the brochure and even a piece of actual penetrating rod from XIANYU (literally translated into 'salty fish', which is a chinese equivalent to Ebay), and funny enough the saler said he got the live firing round from 'Laoxiang' (basically peasants) living close to places where PLA's conduct firing drill and casually get their hands on these unused pieces of classfied military equipment.. and the leaker defend himself stating that since these stuffs can be put on sale in a public platform why would they even be considered 'classified' to begin with lmao
"If I had a nickel every time someone released classified military documents to a war thunder forum I'd have three. Which isn't a lot but its weird that it happened three times." Also best part about the stuff that's been leaked is the game developers can't use any of it and won't.
Former US Marine 1812 here. I speak from personal experience that the Abrams does in fact have have a snorkel for the engine. I have used the DWFK in training. I never used one in combat but they do exist.
World of Tanks has turn everybody into experts and turn many people into Russian bootlickers. Russian Bootlicker kid: In real life it won't be ONE ON ONE!(They are implying that in real life it will be 2+ T72 tanks or any Russian jet vs one Western Tank or one Western Jet).
The info I've found on M1A2 Sep V3, is 66.8 tons which would be a difference of around 12 tons, not 18 tons. Perhaps you have gotten hold of Sep v4 weight? But 73 metric tons on an old platform sounds very heavy. Even at 66.8 tons it sounds like it's coming close to the limit without redesigning other parts of the tank?
"Infantry out in front when facing enemy anti tank capabilities, something the russians didnt do in ukraine." They didnt to start, since they thought the ukranians werent going to fight. Once they realized they were in a real war, they starting applying their actual doctrine based on heavy firepower and abandoned armored spearheads.
@@garyp.7501 They are taking it slowly to avoid having isolated forward units. But they just won a massive victory in the east. Its not what we expected before the war started, but they clearly have the upper hand.
2:04 That "15•C" is a reference to the temperature in Celsius, not "+or- 15 degrees from the median error". The reference to Celsius is everywhere on that document.
@@nyimdewan3353 it's the given conditions at which the main metric holds. kind of like how you say water boils at 100C, 1 atm. what is the 1 atm supposed to mean? it's the pressure at which the main metric, temperature, water boils 100C. At different pressures, the water boils at a different temperature.
The replica tank is probably going to be used in op training. We did it in the 80s with replica tanks from Russia , my guess it’s going to be our next big training for against China
Tanks, even in exercises scared the shit out of me. In the dark when friendly or OPFOR tanks passed even just close to me, I'd stand up to make sure they saw me. I am a bit claustrophobic so I didn't like being in tanks either. Yeah, I wasn't the greatest soldier. That was 30 years ago though. I am super brave now.
Dude, there's no fear like trying to put the grunt phone back in the box when the Abrams changes gears. The Japanese have back up cameras on their tanks, why don't we!?
Another correction would be that the so called "Type 99 A2" is not a real specification. Based on Chinese naming schemes, variants of military equipment would use the next alphabet rather than numeber. So "Type 99 B" would be the improved version of "Type 99 A", just like the Type 96A and Type 96B. Also, Type 99 A is the latest version and there is no improved version published so far.
Well, it's not entirely correct, take the Type 052DL destroyer for example. It's part of the 052D class (evolved from 052C) but due to it only have elongated hull and a new long range search radar as an upgrade, it did not get the 052E designation.
@@obsidianstatue No.....052DL is longer for a bigger helicoper pad, usually, ABD refer as a very big upgrade in China, 052C and 052D look like a totally different thing, and J10 fighter, J10A, J10B, and J10C all very different, only from outlook tells alot.
The "Accuracy" is not +/- 15°, the +15°C is "plus 15 degrees Celsius" meaning the temperature at the test - like the Muzzle velocity is 1,760 m/s @ +15°C. The accuracy, velocity and armour penetration will differ with an increase/decrease of temperature.

Correction: 02:00 It would appear that the accuracy of 15°C refers to the performance at that temperature. Median represents the midpoint of the data, not the variation. So at 59°F half of all rounds will fire faster and half will fire slower than 1760 m/s. ex. rnds fired may be 1700, 1705, 1750, 1770, 1775, and 1776 m/s. the median is 1760 and the average is 1746. Hey Task & Purpose one correction I'd like to make is the ending statement of Chinese tank not being tested in battle. There are actually exported type-96s used in the Sudanese civil war that saw the vehicle go up against T-72As and destroyed them without tanking any casualties. This engagement and entirety of the war is relatively unreported but there are some sparse articles that reported the events. The type 96s exported to Sudan had no ERA modifications on whereas the T-72As in service with the South Sudanese had ERA. This can be seen as a evidence for strong composite armor even in older Chinese tanks, but we don't know what ammunition the T-72s used though. It's just interesting to see Chinese tanks starting to over-take Soviet/Russian tanks in certain areas like technology and armor.
You also need to consider crew training and doctrine, plus maintenance amd logistics. No disrespect to the Sudanese, but I don't know if they have the same scale of budget as China does which might degrade even the best designed vehicle performance on the battlefield.
@@ccarroll4339 logistics and maintenance need many money, entier Russia has the same GDP as a Chinese southern province Guangdong, eand even a Chinese city has more GDP than Sudan, so it is hard to compare the performance,
Historically being in a tank offered a reasonable level of protection but I would be terrified of even encountering infantry these days in a tank. A tiny rocket seems to be a near guaranteed death sentence
Well for the most part tanks really don't go anywhere without infantry overwatch for this very reason, what's crazy is you think tiny rockets are scary when you can go to your local hardware store and make a shape charge with remote demo for just a few bucks and can take out any tank
One thing I've noticed is that Russian and Chinese tanks' suspension are just so much less smoother than Western MBTs. You can see how violently the chassis rocks after firing the main gun or just traversing and braking. You never see that in MBTs like the Challenger, Leos, Abrams, and Leclercs.
It's nice to be aware of the discrepancies between what the Chinese military says and the Chinese media says. The media would like to make outlandish speculations, inflate the capabilities and boast about it because their only objective is to produce contents most attractive to the Chinese audience. The military, if anything, would actually want to be careful when making a claim, and would sometimes even understate its capabilities. In the EN-speaking circles because of the language barrier, people usually just assume China is this monolithic block: "China says" "China thinks" while in reality the Chinese military, the MFA, the Chinese media, their objectives are not at all algined.
Plus some people (mostly idiots who watch Fox News) think that China = Russia and PLA = Russian army. They're pretty much opposites. The Russian army is big as they can make it and eats up a huge chunk of the state's funds with the main objective to attack and subjugate all neighbours. The PLA is a small professional force to defend against Vietnam and slow down India or Russia while a general mobilisation can be effected. The PLA is also expected to start and run companies to provide its own budget. Which makes a lot of sense because looking back to when the anti-maoists seized power, China was a shambles. They needed a lot of money to develop and they needed it fast, but you can't get that if you're financing a huge army for some hypothetical big war, while with Tibet incorporated into China, you've defense-in-depth against both your peer adversaries. So a PLA capable of stomping on Vietnam, Taiwan invading, North Koreans invading and the small western neighbours like Kirgizistan, means all strategic needs are covered.
the Roman Republic before it became the Roman Empire used to copy military Technologies and tactics that they thought might be better than theirs and combine the best of all systems to add to their Legions. I think this is a wise policy that all modern military should follow. I think the Chinese are being smart like that and I hope that the American Military is too.
The american military and chinese military are probably top tier, and easily are competitors. Both countries also realize that nationalism is retarded, and only put it up for politics and show.
@Watcher America didn't even have a rocket program prior to the capture of German scientists. The American rocket program was a continuation of the German rocket program.
the roman empire did the same thing actually (for example copying and incorporating parthian cavalry tactics into existing roman doctrine, later adding Sarmatian cavalry tactics, later adding hunnic and gothic cavalry tactics, etc etc. in adition to their own innovations)
Actually the first Chinese tanks where bought by Chinese warlords fighting their civil war in the 1920s. from the French and they were WW1 tanks. Chinese also bought and home made their own armored cars. and trains. in the 20s and 30s. later the KMT Chinese bought some PZ1 German tanks as well as Italian and British light tanks in the mid 1930s but many of these got destroyed in hte battle of Shanghai 1937. The Soviets gave the KMT Chinese a few hundred T-26 tanks during the war with Japan 1937-1945, a large number where lost in the battle of Kunlun pass 1940 , the majority were kept in the rear guarding the Chinese kMT capital at Kunming.
You should do a video about Germany’s large military budget increase. Germany was the Cold War’s front line in Europe, but will they be able to compensate for decades of neglect?

I think you've missread the accuracy error on the spec sheet. (+15 degC) Is refering to ambient air temperature. Its whats called ISA day temp. Basically a standardised temperature at sea level for calculating aerodynamics. The error is the text that comes after it in meters. You'd quote the temperature you calculated speed and error at because it effects the aerodynamics of the round
Good analysis. The penetration data 680mm is known to the public for several years (reported by state television channels) and it is not made by depleted uranium. Type 99A is a milestone for PLA. But they are still figuring out the optimal form of tanks for the future. And Type-15 is one effort in this exploration, which is several years earlier than MPF.
Check out the M8 AGS program, it's still a myth whether Type 15 can handle medium to heavy anti-tank weaponry from the front, unless the protection level of Type 15 is really as good as what Chinese keyboard analysts believe it's nothing new.....
@@muyangcheng3874 You would not expect very good hard protection on a 35-ton tank, which is not its intended purpose. Type-15 has reasonable trade-offs over its design purpose. M8 has been cancelled and its purpose are quite different with Type-15. MPF serves a much more similar role.
@@Cecil97 If heavy tanks could be penetrated one way or another (with wide spread of anti tank missile), there could be different ways to protect the tank other than just adding weight.
Nailed it. also that bit about the gaming forum cracked me up because it's exactly how i'd imagine leaks happening; by someone on a mission to prove themselves.
I mean... what's China going to do, say "That's not the real specs"? They can't even argue against the information, because doing so will just validate that it's real.
15°C is the temperature of the test conditions for which the data is relevant for. It is not MOA accuracy numbers. 15°C means the tests were conducted when it was 59°F.
@@pashapasovski5860 No... it is the speed of the projectile that was able to achieve this speed in the given temperature. Colder=most likely slower burning and the final speed at the end of the barrel will be lower. @@Bialy_1 OK,the temperature inside the tank is hardly 15°C ,they have climate control AC,but the angle of the gun,is what really influences the speed of projection! You can even see tanks moving on roads with slight elevation, but yeah, you must be right, I didn't spend 15 months as a part of tank brigade, so what do I know!
One disadvantage with that T72 derived auto loader is that the ammo is much more likely to cook off when penetrated massively reducing crew survivability, which in any protracted conflict will mean a big reduction in skilled tank crews. The Russians had very few tank aces during ww2 due to the low survivability of T34 crews.
Thanks for the level-headed info on the Type-99A. One of the many differentiating factor between the Russian and the Chinese is that the latter faces up to their problems and shortfall on the battlefield, and not to drum up empty talks like what the former does. Many of these modernisations came during the honeymoon period in the 80s between US and China, as well as the shock and awe of the US military during the first Gulf War. The Chinese saw and woke up to reality, and they have never slept since then.
They can't be making too many of these tanks. At least not until they start slowing down on filling every American household with 5-8 appliances of some sort. Great run down Cappy. Love to hear what is going on over the fence. And before someone else says it: Tanks a lot!
yk thats exactly what Germany thought right before they were flooded with American tanks and fucking obliterated. The world needs to automate fast in order to compete with China. Genuinely surprised that no one is even remotely concerned over this threat.

Sit back on your laurels and you are toast. Assess your adversary based on as much information as you can find, not just the vehicle. You did that very well in this video. Bravo! And keep them coming!
I'd agree, and from a pure systems capability, it was a good review. But you also have to analyse the crew's training and experience (gunnery, maneuver, fieldcraft, mindset (no conscripts)), ability to conduct maintenance (crew and forward support), and the unit's ability to keep the formation resupplied (fuel, ammo, food). From that perspective, 'Merica!
The big thing I don't see a lot of people really talk about when comparing specificly American tanks to Chinese tanks like this is that performance of certain areas of the tank, like the round are classified. That's the same with American tanks and it's already confirmed that the United States has a new type of round that is multipurpose. Considering how advanced a lot of things the military is putting out rn are I imagine that another tank design isn't far behind along with a swath of new technological advancements that will likely make other nations shid a lil
Sepv4 is already in process and reportedly the US is also coming out with an Abrams replacement as well as a new light tank. Also yeah, there's been a lot of crazy new munitions coming out lately
Considering China steals all their technology from America and the West as they seem to be incapable of designing anything that works on their own it seems they will forever be playing catch-up.
As always, very informative, I am glad you mentioned "battle tested", not sure how much the two gulf wars counted actually, considering it was so one sided, nonetheless, experience was gained, and learned. Also, always enjoy the humour !!

The accuracy “+ 15 degrees C” cannot be talking about 15 degrees of deviation. That is a HUGE miss. Precision usually is talked about in MOA (Minutes of Angle i.e. 1/60 th of a degree) or MRAD (Google it, I can’t be bothered to explain it). The +15 C is likely the temperature at which the test was conducted. You can also see +15 C below.
Abram's is only limited to 40 off-road as a recommended top speed. You go over a hill at the speed and tonnage and the tank will kill the occupants. It unofficially can go 70mph plus on pavement (that's coming from a driver I talked to in the 90's),limited by the fact that the rest of the battalion can only travel at about 40mph. It's not about size too, Abrams has very impressive acceleration for getting in and out of dug in positions (not that we'd ever need to dig in an Abrams). I won't comment on the T99A, since I know so little about it, but I will say Abrams was designed with enough killing power and armor to handle that class of tank. Also, US doctrine ditched ditched snorkels on tanks a long time ago. Takes too long to ford and very few river banks can handle a tank going up and down. We can lay a bridge almost instantly or hop some light armor via transport aircraft to create a bridgehead. You remember when Saddam blew the bridges into Baghdad? Barely, even slowed our attack.
Literally all US Military hardware can travel faster than what the public thinks it can. An example would be like the Stryker, which can comfortably cruise at 90mph on Highway. The newer M1A2 SEP V3 can exceed 80mph pretty easily, but the speed governor won't allow it, because again... a vehicle that big suddenly breaking, turning, or stopping would be extremely dangerous to everything, and everyone, involved.
earlier abrams (like the ones from the 90's) were a good chunk lighter then our modern up armored versions, so over all pep and acceleration has taken a hit. But the suspension system and transmission has been upgraded as well over time and can handle the increased weight, but the turbine is the same power as it was before.
Just a heads up your videos are kinda quiet even at max volume whereas other channels dont have this issue for me. Noticed this the last few videos you uploaded. Just thought Id mention it, thanks for putting up videos that help explain military happenings and developments in a way non military people can follow!
16:56 that is definitely a WRONG generalization (not necessarily a wrong statement) if a country just wants to be a regional power, even if just a defensive one, but has diverse geography, that's plenty reason to look for that flexibility. Here in Pakistan we have barren mountains and rocky deserts in the west, green mountains and glaciers in the north, plains criss crossed with rivers in the east, marshes and Sandy deserts in the south west... Design for strictly one terrain will simply not suffice for such a situation. You can either have different equipment for every terrain (nightmare) or have modular/rugged equipment that you can use basically everywhere
13:37 While I agree with this statement for most Chinese products and questionable construction methods, but I really don't think this is the case for their military. What you use for yourself is going to be a much better quality that what you sell to others. Corruption would still be a problem, but China is very different from Russia.
The question with such autacracies is the degree they value individual human lives, it may not always be the best cost effective strategy, but democracies usually put higher value on protecting personnel.
@@assertivekarma1909 they're not stupid, I'm sure they've realized that it's worth it to spend more money to protect the soldiers because of their experience
@@Fred_the_1996 It's not a matter of intelligence, in a full blown war it might be better to accept loss of soldiers to win a war, but democracies often value individuals more because of different forms of accountability. How one child policy plays into this calculation for CCP leaders I don't know.
I actually don’t agree that the idea that countries use better equipment than what they sell to others. Countries use the equipment that fits the needs of their troops at the lowest price possible.
I believe the Abrams top speed is governed - it is capable of a greater speed. Also some modern tanks have a small auxiliary engine to generate electricity - They are quieter and provide a constant flow of electricity even when the main engine is turned off
Coming from a guy who plans on joining the Army within the year as a 19K (Armor Crewman) with such high levels of reported armor on the heaviest variant of the Type 99A do you think this might prompt the US Army to finally pursue procurement of the longer barrel Rheinmetall L/55 120mm gun to replace their variant of the aging Rheinmetall L/44 for the greater penetrative performance which seems to be growing more and more necessary to deal with modern peer armored threats? Or do you believe that there is a better option for the US to future-proof it's favorite mainline armored asset? It seems more and more that as armor increases the Abrams is slowly falling behind in lethality and protection despite the enhanced armor that came with the SEPV3 version of the tank. This is of obvious concern to myself should the worst come to pass during my future service.
The tank which has less crew has less interior volume, thus it can be overall smaller and lighter, while it can potentially have comprable armour to heavier western tanks which have more crew, more interior volume and more overall size and volume. That being said the composite on Chinese and russian tanks probably is worse formula then what is on western tanks however with heavy ERA the armour might actually be even better, though obviously ERA is a one shot wonder. So yes everything is a trade. Top attack is the main thing here tho and nothing except an active defense system that covers the upper hemisphere helps there, no tank in the world can survive top attack. That being said I think if it's cheaper modern tanks should not even have active defense covering front armour since conventional tank tactics is to have best armour there but the upper hemisphere must be covered. It would be an acceptable trade. There's even videos of Russians under Ukrainian ambush and a top attack nlaw scores a kill but direct multiple frontal shots at a different tank in the column that turned towards the ambushing troops fail to penetrate it.
Pretty sure that's why Chinese doctrine doesn't use the tanks as a spearhead. More chance for infantry to intercept any ATGM teams that way. Unlike the Russian approach of "Comrade, first tank has been blown to bits, we now know we're under attack"
Good briefing. Thanks for this. Not bad for an Infantryman (from an Armoured Corps bloke 😉). Definitely a different approach to the Abrams. And then again, as you say, are the different tactics by which they are employed.
Radius is how you characterize a 2 D circle or a 3D sphere. It is a single dimension. An area dimension given as 9” by 9” would imply a square (first assumption, it could also imply a triangle but you would be expected to provide more info) area in which case one wouldn’t mention radius.
@@rogerwilco5918 There are two variants that they could copy from soviets, horizontaly or verticaly and in both of them they are doing amazing job in the topic of rapid turret ejecting system.
you could also trace back some design lessons and features from the older WZ1224 prototype another thing to note is regarding the name calling for chinese MBTs: generally, "type XX" is the western designation. chinese designation is generally "ZTZ-XX" or "WZ-XXX" (WZ being the prototype + production name and ZTZ being the PLA name. for exemple, as far as i know, the "type99" s chinese names are respectively WZ123 for R&D + prod and ZTZ99 for army)
Easier to remember if you memorize WZ designation as Wanzer. Can't think of anything for ZTZ, but I imagine Type-90 as T-90, so I remember where the Type-90 series comes from. "Wanzers (derived from the German word wanderpanzer; wander for "walking", and panzer for "armor") are a type of mecha featured in the Front Mission games."
Chris will you do an initial thoughts/review on the new Rheinmetall KF51 Panther based on the video and brochures released to date and how it hypothetically stacks up against it's most likely opponent, the T14.
T14 wins easily since KF51 does enter the battlefield eventually and gets destroyed by the many threats there whilst T-14 never leaves it's home base, thus surviving the battle!
You are incorrectly considering, at least, the Russian doctrine of the use of tanks. In it, the enemy's tanks are fought first by artillery, including jet, then by aviation, infantry with the help of anti-tank weapons.Tanks in the Russian doctrine are used to break through the enemy's defenses, naturally not by themselves, but in a group with the main units of the ground forces. And only at the end of this whole list is the fight against enemy tanks. In battles in the same Ukraine, tanks and tanks converge very rarely, and there losses from the Ukrainian side in tank duels are about 1 to 6, due to better training of the crew, better protection and means of detection.
Well, everyone's blueprints are known, and again, despite the advantages here and there, it always, ALWAYS comes down to the effectiveness of the crew and the crews around them (and the combined arms team they are attached to). I've never trained with Chinese crews, but whoooooo boy. There are major national differences in military culture that very much effect how well their armor units fight. I trained with armor officers from most every Middle Eastern nation west of Iran, and most every Western NATO nation. Big differences.
@Que Coo I'm sure they have some elite troops that would fight well. And there is a fair deal of nationalism in China. Some might even be true believers.

I think they are beautiful machines more than how destructive can be. Come on guys, you dream in italian sport cars because they not only are fast, they are also beautiful machines.
I don’t see any significant advantage the type 99a has over the Abrams. At least advantages that couldn’t also be applied to the Abrams if needed. As for speed, my understanding was the abrams was governed at 45mph and is physically capable of higher but was considered unnecessary do to the added wear on the running gear. I believe I even read that an unlocked Abrams was capable of hitting 70mph with a full combat load. As for fuel consumption. Not really an issue when you can literally raid the local liquor store for fuel. Obviously that was a joke despite it actually being true.
There isn’t any significant advantage. In fact China only built about 400-600 of these Type 99A vs America’s 5000+ Abrams. The reason is simple, China doesn’t believe in Type 99A. The only place where those tanks are fielded are North East China, and the ONLY potential enemy there is Russia, which isn’t much of an enemy.
agree,But every piece of equipment has a cost, you can't expect a $3 million tank to perform at the same level as the M1, but if you can reach eighty percent level with $3 million, you will definitely like this equipment, and if a $3 million tank encounters a target that can't be solved, what you may need is a tactical missile to handle the trouble encountered.
@@dg2010 It is so stealthy nobody ever saw it deployed to active duty. Meanwhile This type 99AII is not common but still observed many times in active duty brigades.

Now here's the real question. How bad has corruption affected the Chinese military? Is it as bad, worse, or better than what we've seen in the Russian military?
🤔Nah man it's bad very bad Just look at pollymatter video(I bet he ain't like your average YouTubr that Created YT channel just for bashing china).Check his content out he mentions there about How China And corruption is running the country
I cannot speak for the military, but I’ve both lived in China and done business with the Chinese on behalf of my company. China believes the world runs on corruption. I would be shocked if the high level corruption isn’t rife. However, I don’t think there will be much theft - I think you will find that there have been a lot of the wrong people promoted because they could pay, but not much in the way of people buying mansions they couldn’t possibly afford on their wage.
In fact, a lot of Chinese're not as happy with its performance, and so am I. Because it was an "old" tank from more than 20 years ago, more advanced technology was not used, but we also understood this option, for now it was enough as an army force, and now more important as an air force and naval force. By the way, I hope that the strength of the military force is not to hope to start a war, but to hope that we ourselves can have the ability to defend ourselves, Chinese is not a war madman, if one day China begins to invade and intervene in other countries, I will be the first to oppose.
If only the chinese government thought like you do, the US would have no problem with them. China seems intent on being the russia of asia, invading it's neighbors lands and waters to steal their resources and enslave their citizens, which the US will not stand for. Such a shame. Trade between our countries has been mutually beneficial, especially for china. China would also make a good ally solving the problems of our time, such as curing cancer or solving climate change. They'd rather run around acting like hitler or stalin though, building their "empire" of slavery and suffering. Smh
So basically, they took an older frame and modernized it instead of making something new? Well, it's probably the most feasable tank for now. Maybe in the future a better design will take it place.

Back in the 90's I was in Israel. I was talking to an Israeli tank driver. He was shocked and asked 'how do you know this'? I told him I used to make plastic model kits and this information was included in the kits instructions.
Whew!
The dimensions of the roadwheels also help here, because they help in estimating the maximum weight or mass of the tank which tells you something about its mobility, where it can travel on its tracks or by truck, which bridges it can use, etc.,
The videos help a lot too.

"strategy of keeping enemies as far away as possible" damn that's how I play strategy games too.

Well, it's not entirely correct, take the Type 052DL destroyer for example.

I believe that 15C is the temp on a Standard Day in aeronautical lingo, used as another commenter said, a reference point for calculations.

Correction:
02:00 It would appear that the accuracy of 15°C refers to the performance at that temperature. Median represents the midpoint of the data, not the variation.

It's just interesting to see Chinese tanks starting to over-take Soviet/Russian tanks in certain areas like technology and armor.
yeah but the other side using the T-72 was trained by the Ukranians. Do you really trust tactics and training of the late 90s early 2000s Ukraine??
So just More Metal Coffins on the Battlefield for China...Cool
You also need to consider crew training and doctrine, plus maintenance amd logistics. No disrespect to the Sudanese, but I don't know if they have the same scale of budget as China does which might degrade even the best designed vehicle performance on the battlefield.
@@ccarroll4339 logistics and maintenance need many money,

I think the Chinese are being smart like that and I hope that the American Military is too.
problem is, who is better than the American military that they can copy? lmao
Actually it happened with gunpowder. Uniforms. Rockets. Metalworks.

It won't make much of a difference. The budget means nothing when they have so few people willing to join the military.
Europe is finished.

Lol maybe they have the magical era blocks that stop apfsds rounds in warthunder

Many of these modernisations came during the honeymoon period in the 80s between US and China, as well as the shock and awe of the US military during the first Gulf War. The Chinese saw and woke up to reality, and they have never slept since then.

Multipurpose round simply isn't gonna have higher pen then an APFSDS
The Germans released their new tank (KF51 Panther) last month. So I wouldn't be surprised if the States has one in the making.
Considering China steals all their technology from America and the West as they seem to be incapable of designing anything that works on their own it seems they will forever be playing catch-up.

Thanks, but China Will attack Taiwan, get ready because that starts ww3
