    As always, I go away with a little something new when I watch your videos. Thanks so much for that. I might have to travel north to Esterillos this week! This winter I ran into all the other RUclipsrs I watch on Costa Rica except yourself and Sara Elena. Keep up the amazing content. You were my first introduction to Costa Rica and I've owned in Ojochal for 2 years this month. I'm working up to full time over the next 2 years. Your "immigrant" couple are just a step or so ahead of us so I found this interaction exceptionally helpful. Cheers!

I walked away from one of your previous videos saying "yeah, no way I can live there" to this video where I'm thinking "ok, maybe i can". I'm still in the convincing the wife to just THINK ABOUT IT stage. Her big thing is: "I don't want to be so far from the kids"(I, personally, don't care lol). Portugal? Eeek. It's part of the EU so I can't imagine that people are still wanting to move there... but to each his own.
    Hello James and Jeanne from Shahhlot North Cakalackie. I myself (Rhonda) came from Southwest Virgina, just north of y'all up Fancy Gap on 77. Glad to see some fellow Appalachians here living the pura vida. Jeanne... I am a writer myself. Published. And an editor. I need to talk to you about freelancing. I will email you.
    Mike, the crazy thing (typical Costa Rica) is that we were told we could NOT get a bank account, even for our business. Your friend Jessenia is the one who told us this. She said she met with one of the bank officers in La Fortuna and he said no. She also told me that my $1,200 a month pension is "low" for residency. I knew better, so I just politely moved on. Therefore it's anybody's guess what the real story is about the bank account. We have an SRL for the farm and still no bank account. One day we'll get one. I reached out to Pablo just today about helping Michel and me gather up our paperwork for residency. Michel has had one heck of a time with Panama this month trying to do a border run (they wouldn't let him into Panama because he didn't have "enough" cash on him. ????? Whatever.) He's going to try again Monday. He won't go to Nica because he won't take a PCR test, he can't go to the US because his last application for an ESTA was denied (yet another big ????) and he WON'T go back to France. So looks like it's time to suck it up and start the process of becoming Costa Rican. Makes sense, though, since Costa Rica is the only country that has really treated us well since the plandemic.

    • @TravelCostaRicaNOW
      @TravelCostaRicaNOW  Год назад +3

      You can get a bank account without being a resident but it's not really worth it because you have a limit... and it's not much. And you want the lowest that is closest to the $1,000 threshold for residency so I'm not sure why she would say that. Well, Panama is the worst border crossing hands down. Decisions are going to have to be made ;)

    • @MMAnimalSanctuary_Rhonda
      @MMAnimalSanctuary_Rhonda Год назад

      @@TravelCostaRicaNOW decisions are DEFINITELY going to have to be made. I mean, it's not like we don't want residency. We just couldn't be bothered with it until now, kinda exactly like what James and Jeanne said. :-)

    Since you report comments count for a lot in RUclips's algorithm, here's mine for today: How about some specifics on how to prevent criminals from circumventing window/door bars/gates and 500 pound safes. I live in NYC where this kind of crime wouldn't even elicit a police response, but I have no intention of moving to a city where it's just as bad or worse... As an elderly guy, after having three dogs in the last 70 years, I've no stamina to deal with the care of another one. A black bear sleeps all winter so that would provide adequate security. A roomate is not for me. Perhaps you have some thoughts on the matter that you care to post. (Alas, I have no expensive jewelry or rare-coin collection but I've been the victim of an attempted robbery on the subway for my $12 Casio watch...

    • @TravelCostaRicaNOW
      @TravelCostaRicaNOW  Год назад +4

      I can just tell you how I do it. I got bars and security doors. I live in a good location as far as someone coming in and 'circumventing' my bars, they would be seen. Don't let people in your house. Don't show off when roaming around your town. Low key. But I guess for me, I don't got crap to take, so there's that. Thanx for commenting, much appreciated.
