I have been to Costa Rica twice. The majority of my friends ask me. When are you moving to Costa Rica? Well, here I am, watching these videos every day. I’m ready. Be there Sunday.
hi Michael, another very interesting video...we are an Italian couple planning to move to Costa Rica...we are starting to plan and your videos are helping us...we still have a lot to do but we are excited...just over 50 we still have to work but we want to come there!!!
Love the background of the video. Excellent interview!!!! Beautiful and very positive couple. By the way you are so positive and speak from your heart. God bless.
Hey Michael, another great video with real people that have real life experience moving to CR from either the US or Canada. It is great to hear from people that have experienced what many people are considering doing. Keep up the great posts!
I'm engaged Michael! You continue to knock it out of the park! Great video and wonderful people! Flying in tomorrow morning! Your videos are keeping CR on my radar for retirement. thank you!
As always, I go away with a little something new when I watch your videos. Thanks so much for that. I might have to travel north to Esterillos this week! This winter I ran into all the other RUclipsrs I watch on Costa Rica except yourself and Sara Elena. Keep up the amazing content. You were my first introduction to Costa Rica and I've owned in Ojochal for 2 years this month. I'm working up to full time over the next 2 years. Your "immigrant" couple are just a step or so ahead of us so I found this interaction exceptionally helpful. Cheers!
Ahhh... Renee, thanx so much for the nice words... they are totally appreciated. Especially 'going away with a little something new'.... so nice to hear. Maybe we can do a video sometime :)
Fantastic interview. I didn't think I'd watch 40 minutes of it, but it was interesting and entertaining. I hope you have this couple back for more discussions.
Hi Michael. A person's attitude determines so much in one's life. Your guests have the right attitude and it shows. Good for them. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much! This was incredible! You hit on ALL of the questions, fears, curiosities. One of the best, most informative, honest and helpful interviews I heard! I'm from Charlotte, NC as well. Maybe I'll join you some day :)
OMG right at the end about the car accident just hit home for me. We got in a car accident as well, 3 months post arrival, pregnant with 3 kids and with spending so much on a used car already. It was a horrible setback but we thank Gid everday that he spared us and we all walked away unharmed! 💜
Thank you! This video content and vibe is exactly what I needed and at exactly the right time! I fly out 9/2 after 28 years of professional life in Nashville TN and ready to start a new chapter. I love your guests and literally contemplated Charlotte but same rat race and ego. Your guests were so on point! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to meet you all!
Hi Michael, James and Jeanne! Thanks for this engaging and relatable interview! We also moved from North Carolina earlier than originally planned (a year) and started our Costa Rica adventure almost two years ago with four suitcases and dog. Jeanne, I loved your description of "heads down and butts up" - it fits perfectly! 🙂
Good morning Love 🌅 Thank you for another great expat video! Always informative! It was a pleasure speaking with Jeanne myself yesterday... The best things in life are free AND generally make you sweat 🏋️♀️ 🤸♀️💃 💑
Well, THAT was Fun! Now, no need to Sugarcoat the Trauma & Horrors along the way. A lot to be said about Keepin’ it Real- we know you’re not makin’ stuff up. Thank-you for bringing these good people to us, Michael!
Great people and another insightful interview Michael! Thanks for sharing and introducing us to James and Jeanne (immigrants) who appear to have found their forever home in Costa Rica :)
Another great video and another video that screams to me that I need to get my ass down there and check things out in person. I walked away from one of your previous videos saying "yeah, no way I can live there" to this video where I'm thinking "ok, maybe i can". I'm still in the convincing the wife to just THINK ABOUT IT stage. Her big thing is: "I don't want to be so far from the kids"(I, personally, don't care lol). They're a 2-2 and a half hr drive away now, so it isn't like they're around the corner.
I am probably of your mindset... love the kids, but my life comes first--- yikes, did I just say that? No, I get it. Hope everything works out for the 2 of you how you want.
@TravelCostaRicaNOW I'm 55 years old and time is getting short lol. I've always been an "everyone else comes first" type of guy. I really want to be selfish, for once in my life.
hi Mike I watch a lot of your videos as usual this is another great oner I like James attitude and that's the way to approach it. We've been there a few times and hope to be back soon for a longer stay and hopefully will check you out our last visit we stayed in La Fortuna keep up the good work.
Because there's no need to hurry up with that... you got some time. It's not difficult if you fit under one of the categories. But if you don't......... **Just throwing my 2 cents, I suppose they're doing what's best for them.
ONe of my best interviews was with Andy and his wife. It's on my channel somewhere. But they left Costa Rica like 10 years ago. **Unless I got the wrong Andy, which is could be the case.
Portugal? Eeek. It's part of the EU so I can't imagine that people are still wanting to move there... but to each his own. Hello James and Jeanne from Shahhlot North Cakalackie. I myself (Rhonda) came from Southwest Virgina, just north of y'all up Fancy Gap on 77. Glad to see some fellow Appalachians here living the pura vida. Jeanne... I am a writer myself. Published. And an editor. I need to talk to you about freelancing. I will email you. Mike, the crazy thing (typical Costa Rica) is that we were told we could NOT get a bank account, even for our business. Your friend Jessenia is the one who told us this. She said she met with one of the bank officers in La Fortuna and he said no. She also told me that my $1,200 a month pension is "low" for residency. I knew better, so I just politely moved on. Therefore it's anybody's guess what the real story is about the bank account. We have an SRL for the farm and still no bank account. One day we'll get one. I reached out to Pablo just today about helping Michel and me gather up our paperwork for residency. Michel has had one heck of a time with Panama this month trying to do a border run (they wouldn't let him into Panama because he didn't have "enough" cash on him. ????? Whatever.) He's going to try again Monday. He won't go to Nica because he won't take a PCR test, he can't go to the US because his last application for an ESTA was denied (yet another big ????) and he WON'T go back to France. So looks like it's time to suck it up and start the process of becoming Costa Rican. Makes sense, though, since Costa Rica is the only country that has really treated us well since the plandemic.
You can get a bank account without being a resident but it's not really worth it because you have a limit... and it's not much. And you want the lowest that is closest to the $1,000 threshold for residency so I'm not sure why she would say that. Well, Panama is the worst border crossing hands down. Decisions are going to have to be made ;)
@@TravelCostaRicaNOW decisions are DEFINITELY going to have to be made. I mean, it's not like we don't want residency. We just couldn't be bothered with it until now, kinda exactly like what James and Jeanne said. :-)
Since you report comments count for a lot in RUclips's algorithm, here's mine for today: How about some specifics on how to prevent criminals from circumventing window/door bars/gates and 500 pound safes. I live in NYC where this kind of crime wouldn't even elicit a police response, but I have no intention of moving to a city where it's just as bad or worse... As an elderly guy, after having three dogs in the last 70 years, I've no stamina to deal with the care of another one. A black bear sleeps all winter so that would provide adequate security. A roomate is not for me. Perhaps you have some thoughts on the matter that you care to post. (Alas, I have no expensive jewelry or rare-coin collection but I've been the victim of an attempted robbery on the subway for my $12 Casio watch...
I can just tell you how I do it. I got bars and security doors. I live in a good location as far as someone coming in and 'circumventing' my bars, they would be seen. Don't let people in your house. Don't show off when roaming around your town. Low key. But I guess for me, I don't got crap to take, so there's that. Thanx for commenting, much appreciated.
It’s so funny that u wear white t shirts because I started wearing them years ago it started out just being something I wore under my work uniform then migrated into my everyday life I love a clean white tee it’s what I feel best in mine are V neck Hanes and yes it does really simplify your life and people make fun of me but I don’t care lol 😅

Enjoyed this. Mike, you ever think about selling merch like your big coffee cup with the C.R.N. logo and your catch phrases?
Yes, I have. I think we still do but it's thru 'Spreadshirt'. I would rather find a different way to do it.

Great show Michael. Can you have presentation about how to report any income you make in Costa Rica to the IRS that required by usa law
I could... but I would rather have a tax guy do it. I will look for someone and try to make that happen at some point.
The background looked fake. Good the car turned up! 😂
Nothing fake on my channel🤣🤣
Great interview. Common sense goes along way anywhere you travel.

It’s actually really neat that they left NC. I consider NC to be super nice
All the open space, greenery, weather changes. The Costa Rican grown fruits and Veggies all make it healthier.
