    Just had The Dalmore 15... & my goodness! Probably...yea... The best smoothest scotch I've ever had.
    Man... that nose is insane! Orange peel, chocolate blend, ... then just buttery soft on the palate, dried fruit notes galore, then the best part, that sweet & spice finish, with the pineapple (it comes fast & you can miss it, if not paying attention) that goes into a long lasting chocolate finish, that just lingers around for a good 2 minutes saying "Hello...How are you, Quite Well, I'm just passing through, enjoy your night" 😎😎👍🏾👍🏾🥃

    I recommend trying the Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve, it is so much better than the 12, 15 and even the 18. Still not as good as the King Alexander, but the Cigar Malt Reserve is a bargain for the price.

      We had an opportunity to try it at a tasting last year, but at that point had probably had too many to give it a fair shot! We have been wanting to pick a bottle up to give it a whirl as we really haven't found a Dalmore we didn't like!

    Great review. I have never tried Dalmore and was sitting on the fence on purchasing this one. I can pick it up for $54 with two glasses. I think I will pull the trigger on this one. I do love the Sherry finished Scotches.

    one of the few whiskey that I have zero burn on the taste, none of those hot stingy nose and no bitter after taste. Typical this kind of 'smooth' whiskey lacks body and long after taste, but not dalmore 15. It is full of dried fruits, chocolate, orange, apples. It is sweet and delicious. Easy to drink and can still pick up the complexity. 9/10! Talking about price, it is similar to macallan 12 sherry? But actually ever slightly better than macallan.

  • @keithpetersen560
    @keithpetersen560 8 лет назад +4

    Wow, $80 is a good price, its $100 for me and I don't think its worth that price. I could see the Dalmore 15 tasting better than the 18 yr, because it is finished in an additional 3 different casks. I just finished the Dalmore 12 yr over 6 month period and I don't think I will buy again. Taste ok, finish is short. Would rather have the Hp or Balvenie 12 yr personally. I understand adding water, but being only 40 abv that could change the profile. I added water to the Dalmore 12 more than once and I preferred it neat. Dalmore is to smooth of a scotch for water. Can't wait for the Dalmore 18 review. Great video guys.

      We missed you on our inaugural Facebook live event this week. We've got some wrinkles to iron out, but hopefully will do more of the live streaming so we can really have some discussion / conversation! Make sure you've "liked" us over on Facebook so you get the prompt when we're live streaming. We'll do our best to promote it as well. This last week we only promoted it a day prior as it was more of a trial run than anything!

    Butter?!?! No alcohol burn? Really??? I'm in shock...I'm about to go pickup a bottle now 😅😅😅
    Should I take this "no burn" literally? At 40% ABV it has to have some burn...right?

    I haven't tasted a Dalmore I don't like as they are all great. My only beef with Dalmore is the pricing policy. The 15 is very close to $100 where I live!

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 лет назад +1

      Yes, price starts climbing with the 15 yr and up.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 лет назад

      Can't argue with the craziness of price points...it's really strange how they can fluctuate so much just within the states!

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 лет назад

      I agree with price points within the states. You know if you think about it, scotch was pretty damn cheap about 10 years ago. I read an article that said scotch was undervalued and was just now justifying its cost. I would have to agree mostly. I mean think about it. Just to age a 12 yr scotch, you need alot of space and 12 years of maturation time to make a profit.. Now multiply that by other releases of just one distillery and you have alot of costs in warehousing, casks, material and maturation time. So I can see the cost justification at least to a point.

    As your are Dalmore fans, you'll be interested to know the 12 year old isn't colored and that comes from Richard Paterson master blender himself. P.S you should try Aberlour 10 year old, honestly you'll not be disappointed and if you aren't impressed, I'll pay you the price for the bottle.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 лет назад +1

      Now there's an offer! Consider the Aberlour 10 next on the list! And thanks for the info on the Dal12. We're in the process of trying to acquire some E150 for some blind taste testing...but will see.

    Howdy guys! Always pleased to watch each of your reviews) Recently I was gifted with a bottle of 12 year old Dalmore. I ain't opened it yet as you can see so it's still in my "bottle barn". Will you tell me if a 12 year old is way too worse than a 15 year old Dalmore? (warm regards from Moscow, folk!)

    Love Dalmore, but this needs to be 43%. Look at what 44% does to the Cigar Malt. Adds that extra zing. This one is almost too smooth, if there is such a thing..

    how you compare this with Singleton Scotch Whisky 18? which is best?

  • @keithpetersen560
    @keithpetersen560 8 лет назад +2

    I watched the video again. Sounds like you guys are on the fence with this one. You say its smooth, its only 40 abv, flavors come late or are in the background? It almost sounds like your describing the 12 yr to me in my opinion, as the 12 yr is the only Dalmore I've had. It would be great to compare the 12, 15, 18 & 21 and see how your comments compare........

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 лет назад +1

      That's a heavy comparison review, although it does sound good, a little expensive, but good! I think we have the 12, 15 & 18 all on the bar right now, so maybe we can at least compare those three?

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 лет назад +2

      I know you did the review on the 12, 15, & 18 and just thought it would be interesting to do a side by side tasting.... I know you guys can't go out and buy everything the viewers request. Just to much scotch and cost. Follow your own path.

      I did see the new review just this past weekend.... Looks Awesome!
      And as for Dalmore, I've only had the 12... As you say, it's in my wheelhouse! Sweet Speyside! I've heard that there isn't a great variance in their line of scotch and that they are all very similar regardless of age.
      As for their special offerings, I've seen your reviews of the King and have seen reviews of the cigar malt. Unfortunately, I don't have friends at the moment, that enjoy scotch so I can't afford these bottles... I guess I need new friends!

      Fair enough Richard, but this video was shot a year ago when we weren't as knowledgeable as we are today and in the end the we only claim to be 4 dummies. Now having said that, I think were not as "dumb" as we were then, but still never-the-less do we think we know it all when it comes to scotch, actually that's the point...to educate ourselves and others in the process. So, don't take the approach of turning away, but speak up we're here to learn and in the process hopefully everyone can learn something! We appreciate the comment.Cheers,~MarkS4D

      All good Richard.....of course we try to get uneducated viewers with our name, but would never call anyone "dumb"...except ourselves...ahahah! In the end, we acknowledge we're not "experts" by any stretch, but just 4 guys trying to explore this awesome whiskey.Now...more importantly, which Dalmore did you get? And what do you think about it? Step up and educate the dummies, so we can share the knowledge! HAhaha.Cheers,~Mark

    Too weak. Too much colorant. Too much filtering.
    Cask-strength. No filtering. Natural everything. When Dalmore figures that out, let me know.

  • @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344
    @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 8 лет назад

    If you don't care about the e150 then you are falling for the marketing. That is marketing being more important than product. Not saying scotch with color can't be enjoyed(if that's all there is), but in a perfect world we don't want it added. The producers are adding it because they think people are stupid.

    • @Hogibaer
      @Hogibaer 8 лет назад +1

      Plus, it makes any color comparison useless, among colored whiskies as well as colored and uncolored ones (e.g. Dalmore 15 vs Glendronach 15). Also, it might be interesting to see how much sherry you smell and taste at "different levels of darkness" so to speak, which again does not make sense if E150a is added.
      I have come to like my natural color straw yellow ex-bourbon or slightly darker refill sherry cask bottles over the years. :-)

      @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 8 лет назад

      Exactly, kind of lose a bit of respect when reviewers mention color as quality determiner. Am not a snob, really enjoy JW products, but would like them more if it was an honest scotch.
