    I'm so happy EBT is up and running again. That place is some of the happiest childhood memories I have with my dad, and was thrilled to take him back this fall to tour the grounds.

    I can not wait for this railroad to come back with steam power! What a great historic place! Nowhere can you travel through time as authentically as at the EBT.

      @@potatohead5910 #15 was the only one operating under real steam. #17 and #18 were the 2 with smoke bombs

      Reminds me of the Union Pacific filming a pair of 2-8-0s using compressed air and burning tires in the smokebox. It was for their film on the 4000 big boys.

    This is a great video to look back at the things E.B.T had before they closed for the 2nd time. It's very exciting to see that No.16 is back under steam. Excellent video!

    I’m a bit disappointed that the rest of the team weren’t running, but I am glad 15’s managing well.

      This footage is from 2010, when only #15 was operational - hence the creative use of smoke bombs in the other locomotives. As you may know, currently none of the EBT steam locomotives are operational. They are working on #14 and #16 with hopes one of them will be completed by the end of the year. Time will tell!

    Wow. Beautifully done. Seeing #15 facing that direction at the coal dock is a first. Looking forward to seeing that more as the return to life progresses.

    The black and white scene at about 6:00 looks like it was shot by the famous N&W railroad photographer, O. Winston Link, back in the late 1950s. Thanks for sharing!

    Great footage of my favorite railroad! I haven't been to the EBT since the Fall Spectacular in 2006. The photo freight runbys are always fun. I particularly enjoyed the scenes of the train headed southbound at speed through Orbisonia. It almost felt like #15 was going to keep on going south all the way to Robertsdale. I sure hope someday I can see the whole line reopened but right now I'm pulling for the new operators to get us back to basic operations. This was nice to see this morning thank you for sharing it.

    Can you believe it's now been 1 year since that non profit group bought the EBT from the kovalchick family. Man I'm sure hyped for their plans in the future with the railroad, hope they can get 14 or 16 running by later this year since i don't think neither mikado will be ready by the time they reopen in may or June of this year but we'll see what happens

      The Kovalchicks would have never reopened more of the railroad but this group will. They actually have plans to head west toward the tunnels. But, their first goal is reopening the five miles to Colgate wye.

      Well, at the East Broad Too, six mikados still exist (12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18). One of them will be operating again soon (16).

    How do the smoke bombs work

      They are lit and then dropped into the smokestack just before each runby. They produce smoke for several minutes.

      It is a preserved narrow gauge railroad in western Pennsylvania that is getting a new lease on life. It’s like a time capsule - 6 authentic 3-foot gauge locomotives that have never left the property since the day they were delivered, original shops, buildings, trackage, and more.
