SBI is way too arrogant and their tactics are far too blackmaily / threatening for ANYONE to take them seriously. The issue with these groups (call em activists, or whatever else you want) is that they believe the generic label they attach to their actions gives them an allowance to do what they want, to who they want, whenever they want. At the end of the day, they are a stain on everything, both those who are against their forceful 'corrections', and those they pretend to champion.

Alan Wake 2 is heavily criticized in this case because Saga Anderson was - after being introduced in previous games as a white, blonde hair blue eyed swedish - suddenly race changed to black and made ultra competent to the point that the literal first lines of the game involving her are her superior lavishing her with praise and putting her in the lead because she's 'better than him'.
Spider-Man 2 is heavily criticized because in response to fan criticism of forced, boring Mary Jane and Miles missions where you were forced to play as 'not Spider-Man' in a SPIDER-MAN game, the director decided to - apparently out of spite?- give Mary Jane more missions and apparently a stun-gun so powerful it can beat people that Spider-Man has to air-juggle in a single hit. That, alongside the story massively lowering Peter Parkers place in the story, and tampering with his character to the point he retires from being Spider-Man for his 'mental health' and gives the title to the 'oh so much better' Miles. Which isn't Peter Parkers character. (This completely ignoring that Miles Morales was very specifically created to be 'token Peter Parker' and has never really evolved from that imo. I wouldn't even have an issue with it if they didn't keep trying to replace Peter. Just call him Huntsman - for the spider - and give him his own villains rather than poaching Peters rogues gallery who are all, by and large, very personally related to peter either meta or in story.)
God of War Ragnarok - despite how much I genuinely love it - is rightfully criticized for making Angrboda, a Frost Giant of Norse mythology (A race we literally only see a single other living example of, Atreus' Mother... a White redhead.) Black... for some reason? this in addition to the fact her only part in the story is to introduce the worst plot-points, have Atreus lose his spaghetti the moment she shows up on screen in perpetuity, being the single most important character to saving ALL OF THEIR LIVES, and have the slowest, most tedious portion of the game dedicated to her.
SSKTJL, in addition to all of it's other flaws, is miserable with the messaging as well. characters constantly going on about mental health, Green Lantern being all but called a race traitor for being a space cop, the Wonder Woman bio written by Lex Luthor, etc. etc. The story is absolutely the most vile part of the game, the gameplay is a solid 4/10 but the writing makes me wish i could spray forget-juice directly into my corneas.
Rightful criticism is not harassment. I do not believe these kinds of people when they say they've been harassed without actual proof, and quite frankly my sympathy for people who receive bad words over the internet is really, really low. Thin-skinned people who want to use any way they can to make themselves invulnerable to criticism.
Also GoW ragnarok also got criticism because kratos was intentionally painted as a "positive masculinity" role model, which is a massive deviation from his character conception as a brutal god of war driven by spite and hatred to kill gods, a psychopathic berserker who is not to be looked up to. I'd argue that master chief would be a way better character to try to develop into a positive masculine role model, because I don't really see kratos being a wholesome millennial soyjak single father.
It's those little things and bad writing / forced diversity - Tokenism as to why companies like SBI are criticized, it doesn't automatically make those games bad but it definitely is not an improvement. They also ruin lore and change characters in a bad way instead of creating new characters, why would anybody want one of their favorite character be changed just for the sake of diversity or tokenism? Make new characters and leave old characters as the fans know them.
Edit: Those people are also the reason why Feminine characters look less feminine as time goes on, because that female characters with large assets are offensive to their "woke" audience which does not buy games. Look at Nikke, yes its a gacha game, but it gets a lot of money... why? fan service boobas and booty and those things are mostly not allowed in the west.
@virgincrusader69 yes but if you keep buying games with those changes, companies will think you like those changes. So they'll listen to consultants like SBI and put more and more of them into the story... you know instead of just doing the work and making a legit and compelling story out of their already existing options for diversity.
God of War ragnorok may not have had a good shot due to its setting(Norse mythology was pretty centered around one race) however you're really going to tell me they couldn't manage to find compelling characters for Spiderman that would make a good diverse story? Miles has his own character and stories without needing to be a Peter replacement stand in, and we don't need Mary Jane to be strong, there are plenty of strong heroes that could have crossed paths with Spiderman for an interesting story while not have a penis.
Imo for the vast majority the problem isn't diversity. It's not doing it well, and nothing makes that happen more than having a company that is expressly formed to haphazardly sprinkle it in wherever they can jam it at the end of production. Right now they're just making games a little worse, but their reach will keep growing unless it becomes clear that it's not financially profitable to use them vs just paying actual writers and making a good wide appealing story from the start.
@@alanhasmemes...I actually liked what they did with Kratos though. It's not really 'soyjak single father' so much as its him realizing that his impulsive actions - while motivated by justified anger at his treatment by the gods - drove him to horrific actions and had terrible ramifications for his world. Shifting through the cycles of grief over what he blames himself for and finding redemption in the possibility of raising a son who could do better than him, while realising his own story is far from over. While i don't care for what they did with Atreus and Angrboda, I adore the message Ragnarok has about the nature of fatherhood, redemption and fate.
Although I do feel the combat system is very much a downgrade from the original trilogies pseudo-DMC system, the gameplay has enough depth that it feels satisfying even if i would much prefer the varied weapons and movesets of the originals over the weird rpg stats. It takes a special kind of writing to get me to play the roguelike mode and slow down my speed to hear the characters talk about their histories and views on things.

The other things you mentioned...
The Alan Wake character and Angroboda skins was decided by the studios before SBI got involved, per both the studios and SBI word.
In SSquad, they only took care of the party banter and little else.
Their Spiderman 2 involvement i have not bothered looking.
Even if there is something there, that only proves that broken clocks yadayada...
I'm sorry, but this whole thing is just a baseless conspiracy theory.
No gamer has a problem with diversity in a game. Never met one who did. What i have a problem with is forced diversity where it does not belong, just for the sake of it. Medieval europe has a black king? Nope. Breaks immersion immediately. Medieval fantasy kingdom with a black king? No one cares. Reverse too, Ghost of Tsushima and there is suddenly some white guys? Nope, opting out of that.
The main problem is that the stories and the character building suffers once companies like Sweet Baby Inc are involved. THAT is the main deal breaker. In addition i (at least) want to escape reality. So i do not want to see rl politics (of any kind) in a game.
On the forcing diversity....Kim Belair is the CEO of the company. That is the one person who says it that is enough. She is the goddamn CEO.

to be clear, i agree with what you said, i feel the same... what i don't believe is that "all gamers" share such noble reasons to act the way they act. just that
I disagree with games not being tarnished somewhat with their involvement. How are we as consumers supposed to respect art that has to be 'consulted' on? That has to be scrubbed over for anything that might be problematic or controversial. Imagine if Quentin Tarantino directed his movies with a consultant on standby like that. It slightly enrages me seeing the 'woke' and 'anti-woke' crowd acting like complete buffoons and not thinking about this subject in an objective manner. Sidenote woke and anti-wokes should just make out, man they are obsessed with one-another.
Also on the Steam page they are just simply listing games that Sweet Baby is involved in, nothing more. Anything that happens in the forms should be viewed separately, because this just lists the games they were for sure involved in, and we should know which games they were involved in, because we give them our money.
I broadly agree with you, sir, but I wish to mention two things:
1. These pieces pf art are made by massive studios and corporations. There is already a question of artistic intent vs. a need to make a marketable product before taking any kind of consiltancy/executive meddling and others into account. AAA games are no longer suited to auteur-ism the way they used to be (think Carmack or Molyneux), or how some movies still are. Their production is too complex (and, sadly, financialised).
2. What I dislike about that Steam curator is simple: instead of being an informative curator that simply tells you "this game included consultancy from SBI", it actively Not Revommends all of those games, despite the fact that I am convinced the person in charge has not played any of the smaller indie titles in that list (which likely just wanted to not accidentally offend anyone, and so asked SBI for help - not ideal, but not repugnant either). Why not just be informative? It feels off to me, even if I understand the rationale. Slapping that red dislike on stuff like Neo Cab or that African folklore-influenced game seems petty and, honestly, slightly victim-blamey (as ideological or pandering justifications of their devs may not actually exist, unlike the higher probability for the larger producers).
@@roawesomeface1947 Yes you are right that the artistic intent of modern gaming is extremely muddled. But we can't just ignore that now that publishers have prioritized sales over intent. No one is arguing over the artistry of Ubisoft or Activision games, moreso the ones of more objectional quality, like Alan Wake for example (I don't hate it just an example) Diversity should be a biproduct and not a goal. Prioritizing representation and inclusivity for only specific groups has always bred disdain and hate through all history.

Small thing, but I do believe diversity can be a goal worth pursuing, and which can provide wonderful results (Katawa Shoujo is a surprising example). Doing it properly, however, requires heart, understanding, knowledge, and general care that money-hungry corporate types can never achieve.
Consulting firms are basically if you were to hire a company to review your script and see if its good, needs fixing or something, it's basically like you giving your script to some random to review it.

Nah man sweet baby arent a place filled with historians and people that study society, making realistic characters that part of some community that little know by the majority. No they are people tha make games less "offensive", withpit the edge and rawness. Making the blase perfect inclusive character to doesnt offend someone by making them humane. Too violent, too sexual, lets remove any imperfections that make people generalizations about a some group (this is the most imbecile argument, don't matter the group they are part they still are individual people). And another point sensitivity reading is just the same group of people, making the diverse characters be the same because its a limited pool of experience.

Another reason people say this is GamerGate 2.0 is because legobutts, Felix Maya Kramer, is one of THE OGs of GamerGate to begin with and has beein involved in a LOT of the schemes it was about. To find them continuing this trend and the sudden, explosive and near simultaneous posting of articles on several online sites just reeks of another "Game Journo Pros" list. On top of the disingenuous statements and the downright disgusting comments by SBI employees...yeah, I can very well see why folks are on high alert.
I remember a 4chan post about diverse Valve characters (Chel in Portal, Demoman in TF2, Alyx and Eli in HL2...) and how interesting and cool they are. They are well written and no one cared one bit about them not being white.

34:10 actually until the mid 2000s game were predominantly made for the Japanese males due to the western game crash that killed it stateside for 20 years
Then we had a period where Japanese games were made for the intent of the western audience, and by doing so the quality of it dropped significantly and lost any of the previously known charms of said games, making the relevant companies lose as they were trying to move away from their strength and into pandering which impacted everything, from game design to narrative.
The most common example of that period of time is Capcom for how badly they performed. Though recently, Square Enix has had some issues with that as well when trying to pander to a perceived image of the west rather than just focus on making a good game.

It's not about diversity. There has always been diversity in games. The problem is that it is ideologically motivated and that it is strongly implied that if you don't like it you're a bad person. No normal person has a problem with diversity, but when it is forcefully jammed into a beloved franchise where it doesn't belong the fans of that franchise understandably get defensive.
Leave people alone to make the art they want to make.
Vote with your wallet, write reviews, and share your opinion.
Don't try to mandate changes from on high, and don't try to force people out of the industry when they make art you dislike.

I actually experienced this myself so let me tell you my story:
The game is "timespinner", if look the trailer of it, man, let me tell you, the sprite work/animation, the music, the ambience, the gamplay, it looks that has everything to be 16bit gem that belong to SNES game. Needles to say i was excited for it, but the written work is atrocious, to the point that negatively impacts the game... by a lot. And who wrote the game? Silver String media, one of the companies that is listed in all this mess.
Here let me give you an example, in this game we the classic "child of villan" plot. So when i saw that i though "ok, its classic the villan is my father but he puts his ambicious over his family and has no problem in sacrificing them in order to achive it" But guess what, i was wrong. So mother meets father, have child, flee, dies, child swear revange. But turns out as you learn about the backstory the father actually wanted to build a family with them and tried to do so... a lot in fact, and it ended with the mother calling him "a fun distraction" and when he learned she was pregnant he wanted to raise the child himself but the mother flees. Then by the end of the game MC meets her father and he STILL wants to build a father/daugther relationship with her. She refuses and keep being a massive bitch (throug the entire game) and keep saying how she is gonna kill him. At end the he still says he loved her mother which get MC to reply "like you could love her, you met her for only 3 days", IMPLYING that MC mother was actually a whore since 3 days was all that took for her to open her legs.
So yeah, thats one example the game is full of bad writen, the battle with the big bad was nonsensical, there is an NPC that they hyperfocus in its sexuality even though there is another NPC five feet away that shoud have the same problem but its unaffected by it.
So yeah the involvement of these people can and probably will make the game bad.
I could be wrong, but weren't there tweets of an SBI employee bragging about writing most of the Suicide Squad script? I saw something like that mentioned in either Endemion or Upper Echelon's videos on SBI.
from what I know, the guy who made it saw how bad some games were that he played. he looked into it and noticed SBI was involved in those games, so he looked up what other games they worked on and made the group just to let people know that if they didn't like the games SBI may be the reason why they didn't like it. it wasn't intended to attack anyone or any company. him and his mods are trying to remove the posts that are meant to be targeted harassment towards SBI and their employees.
however the CEO then started sending their fans to mass report the group. which got her twitter account suspended for inciting harassment towards the group and the owner of the group because she wanted steam to ban him and remove the group. which started the streisand effect which brought light to the group and the bad shit they been doing such as reacism and other shady shit. this made the group become larger and then asmongold ended up interviewing the owner of the group and that put a bigger spot light onto not only the group but also the employees and the other companies that are associated with SBI that do the similar things as SBI.
Again this is what I know I could be wrong at some parts.
ps. SBI doesn't just do script writing they have the devs add in characters, add voice acting puns and so on. not just narrative.

There is no value or quality judgement in the Steam group, its purely informative as far as I've seen.
And I'm intentionally skipping over SBI's horrid business practices and the blatant racism they try to spread and spout here since it did not have anything to do with your confusion at this point in the video.
I'm from Germany and would call myself very sensitive to racism at this point, since anti racist views get drilled into our heads since childhood. I got no problem with Inclusion or whatever if it makes sense and enriches the story, game or movie. I do not want forced inclusion or diversity anywhere, just to check some boxes. Especially if you perpetuate racist and harmful views with it.

Fun fact users on /V/ saw Volcano High and made a mod called 'snoot game' that was better written and had more content. It also managed to be released sooner than the final version of Volcano High. The staff that worked on the mod would go on to develop an original game called 'I wani hug that Gator!'

SBI might not be the root of the problem, but it's part of it. I want all these people far away from beloved franchises.
I dont care what colour a modern character in a video game is but when you make historic stuff or continue a series and you force colour into a time it does not fit it ruins it same with the trans stuff its fine its in a modern story if its written into the story and that is have an effect on the choice and game play but when its just constantly stated that the person is trans but have no futher effect its pointless and annoying, that would be like me running up to people and saying you know Im straight right like that matters in a normal everyday conversation
I think the reason that group was made was to inform people that the studio who employed them cares less about making a fun game and more about checking boxes and appearing "PC" , It could be this or im giving them too much credit.
Also i mean while SBIs involvement doesn't have any affects on gameplay or art work/direction they do handle the dialogue and such , So those cringey ass dialogues from suicide squad or Lex luthor talking about "Toxic masculinity" in the files could be them , There is also the whole ESG and blackrock thing with these companies.
However in the end a shit game is mainly the fault of either the execs for pushing the devs too hard and not giving them time and making unreasonable demands or the devs lacking creativity or talent.
SBI is just a cog in this whole industry , They just couldn't shut up about it in twitter and kept making shit takes. Also doesn't help that some people there and people connected to the company have a history with harassment and doxxing others.
They did infact do the logs for suicide squad, there were employees on twitter accepting congratulations for the game launch and one of them corrected someone who thought that they did the wonder woman log and said the ceo herself wrote it.
There was even an employee celebrating that they had the first black person on a triple A games cover, I just don't get it has this person been living under a rock for the past 20 years? As far as i know, they were involved in things like party banter and few more. Vast majority of the writing is Rocksteady responsibility.
Anyway, a big publisher like WB should not need a third party to do their own research on "diversity".
Its not a bad idea to seek consulting from an outside source , Like seeing if your story isn't offensive in a way that you're trying to tell a story about another culture or group of people and you don't wanna make the characters look stereotypical , Or how about elden ring outsources some of their lore to GRRM , It can work but when you have people at SBI clearly trying to make money out of this instead of trying to actually help studios (well they think they're helping) then it backfires , Also screw WB those fuckers have been ruining their titles , Mortal kombat was also awful at launch and it seems that they're gonna focus on live service games now instead of story focused ones , WB is also to blame @@polca4love

Chosing SBI as the target of attack in all of this controversy is kinda absurd. I have yet to see any proof of them being relevant enough to be designed as an "enemy of gaming".
The steam group is just normal consumer behaviour. Consumers have a right to know if what they are paying money for is funding anything, be it activism, sweatshops, charity whatever and the consumer has a right to know so they can make informed consumer decisions.
People are allowed to boycott a game due to it's association with, and or due to it having work done by certain companies, regardless of the games quality. Especially when said company is as morally bankrupt, and unnecessary to the industry as SBI. The only point where a boycott like this shouldn't be allowed, is if it becomes a harassment campaign like with Hogwarts Legacy.
I also don't really see the point in saying "Some of the games they were involved with were bad for other reasons, and some were good, therefore SBI doesn't have a negative impact". This company's entire thing is literally to come in, and force diversity regardless of the writers that already exist. Just because a game they worked on could be good or bad from other factors doesn't mean they don't effect the game neutrally at best, negatively at worst. All while draining game resources that could have gone elsewhere.

I agree with you and i feel the same way. Also the steam curator never said to do anything to these games, it just said which game was involved with SBI. But i can't help but feel like ChillZone was/is somewhat biased himself.
Sorry, but Jack and the other fella just pointed out thay such a group, whatever their intention, would attract those types, as proved by discussions in the Steam forum. While they may not be a majority, expect them to be the most vocal.
And again, without details about SBI involvement in their credited games, it is not possible to know if they reduce the quality of the projects or not. That's wishful thinking.

23:00 others might already have pointed that out but I'll reiterate that SBI-detected by is just using the "Recommended/Not Recommended" basically as "SBI is not involved/SBI is involved in some capacity", it's disconnected from other aspects of the game such as quality of the plot, gameplay or fun.
TL;DR - it's just there to inform interested players if SBI worked on it and it's up to them, of course, to decide if they want to buy the game and, indirectly, support SBI or not.
One more thing:
KabrutusRambo himself (the creator of the group) admitted that he was using some websites where some information could've been wrong, like when in the group also Starfield was mentioned despite SBI never being involved with it. He since stated that him and the other moderators of the group are trying to get the info from reliable sources/websites so that there's no misinformation spread on their end.

My main problem with her whole speech that start around 42:00 is that they don't treat their audience like an actual product audience, but like people that don't know what they actually want. Here's the thing: I don't like Racing Games. I tried playing Need for Speed Underground and Need for Speed Most Wanted and liked neither, but i do like JRPG like SMT Strange Journey, Final Fantasy X and Dragon Quest 7. I don't go to software houses that make Racing game and ask them to make them more like JRPG because that would be stupid. It's not wrong to want to make games that people like, you aren't feeding picky babies, you are giving your audience what they like. It's the reason why there's a new CoD every other year, because people keep buying them. Every game has a niche with their audience, when a game tries to please everyone, it ends up pleasing no one and then it flops, and the software house dies (Suicide Squad and Forspoken)
There's two major problems regarding this.
The first one is regarding the Competence of their work, this company, and other consulting companies that do similar work, do their jobs poorly a lot of the time, this results on a lot of media being tarnished by how their attempts of inclusion were lazy, shoe-horned-in and (sometimes) completely at odds with the setting that the game or movie is trying to sell us. If they actually did their jobs correctly, and managed to sell us onto the idea that it'd make sense to add diversity on this setting, then- I think people wouldn't mind as much.
But then there's the second problem, which is the Precedent these companies created. Humans are beings that are good at detecting patterns, even when they're not related. So, when these (poor) attempts at inclusion result on a worse product, people will consider it to be the cause, and after it being done enough times, the precedent is set, and people not only become more wary of this sort of thing, but also no longer want to give it the benefit of the doubt. This is what creates the "Black woman involved" problem you mentioned.
And while some consumers would be more on the fence from just blaming these people for the mishaps that possibly happened that lead to the poor product, when these people, who failed at their jobs, are very vocal, proud and blame the consumers for it. The same consumers won't even look at the fence, they'll bring their pitchforks and they'll instead want to rise up against it.

It all stems back to the major investment companies that require the gaming companies to have a certain diversity quota in their games to receive their money. In the end, the big gaming companies just hire a diversity specialist to fill their quota without a care as to how it may impact the game, and the rest of the writers and developers have to work around it.
That's not to say diversity in games is anything bad, but to require it and force it into the narrative can only harm the end product; whether that's because it's out of place, off-putting, or because it wastes developer's time to include/ re-design for it.
On the other hand, if you don't force it at the beginning, it will never happen.
I'm glad you chose this video for the SBI stuff, Mutahar did a great job of focusing on the actual events that have happened and caused this mess, as opposed to the arguments and insults being thrown by both sides. The most frustrating part of following this story is simply that people on different sides of the story can't agree on what they're fighting about.
I think the really big issue here is neither SBIs business model or the steam group, but the response TO the steam group - they couldve shrugged it off and nothing wouldve happened, the people who are "anti-woke" wouldve avoided them anyway and everyone else wouldve ignored the group. It really didnt do much to their bottom line. It was a huge nothingburger until SBI employees started calling for brigading against the group creator, which is just... straight up non acceptable for a company advertising inclusivity and anti-exclusion sentiment.
These old tweets are just the cherry on top. I dont think SBI cant provide what they advertise when they react like this to a handful of people who dont like them.

One of the problems not hit on here is that this company and its ilk infiltrated the gaming industry (And other industries) 10-ish years ago which coincides with when most people feel the quality of content plummeted into the ground.
There is an endless list of topics to discuss with these fellows from their open admissions of threatening companies into hiring them, The various racist/sexist statements from leaders, The connections to Alec Holowka and the gamergate era, The fact that 80%+ of the games they worked on are flops, That the mainstream media is once again showing the deep-rooted corruption and calling it gamergate 2, etc.

I hate Ubisoft and the entire AC series but I agree with you and props to Ubisoft for AC3 though. I'm open to representation and inclusivity but what SBI does is lazy forced representation and inclusion. All they do is gender/race swap or completely changed a popular character's personality to fit their views, which ends up ruining the game. I mean look at all the black guys they added to the games they worked on, they all got the same hairstyle.

From what I've been able to gather SBI being involved in a game doesn't automatically make it a failure, but it does move it 1-2 steps down the tier list, and they're usually responsible for the least liked parts of otherwise good games. At the end of the day they're a bunch of racists claiming to be fighting racism.
Also the SBI founders started 2 other companies that do the exact same thing and I don't see a legitimate legal way for someone to get kicked out of their own company and immediately found a competitor, twice.
Assassin's Creed 3 was amazing with diversity. Had powerful messaging and philosophical debates, but didn't feel too preachy. Connor was a believable biracial character. Everyone feels like they were written by a real person. I was upset they cut Connor's final speech and the DLC was kinda lackluster. Otherwise good game. Might go play it again.
It's because they don't agree with their business practices, or personal views. It is in no way shape or form unfair. Sure maybe some of the people are doing it for racist reasons, but most of us just want to be able to relax and enjoy our games without politics, Identity or otherwise.
Alan Wake was absolutely a woke rewrite, do not be fooled from the race swaps to the dialogues in the game. You are taking it personal and defending them, you know what they do, also the product did not prove good, it barely broke even.

While personally I agree about buying games that are good rather than simply disregarding due to one person/group who is involved, I do still think it's perfectly reasonable to have a moral objection to a game and standing by that. Just like many people decided that they did not morally abide purchasing a game under J.K. Rowling's IP (not to say in ANY way that the level of harassment that occurred was ok), even though it was a well made and pretty fun game. I think it's important that the group is purely listing linked games so that others can avoid purchasing products which support SBI, and nothing more. It's not a harassment campaign (as was suggested by Kindred) to review bomb or anything of that sort, just a tool to provide heads up about the involvement of a group which some may wish to avoid supporting.

Not bad takes and I generally agree. But I would like to add that personally I think one of the major griefs people have with SBI and "forced" diversity is to do with expectations. Its to do with taking known, established franchises and characters and then change it to something different. Like when I think of Gears of War, I think of Gears 1->3 and the crude, low IQ and silly humor and stereotypes of the games. So ofc when I played Gears 4 I was put off by the completely different tone and vastly different characters because it didnt feel like a gears game (not saying its a bad game mind you). When people buy a known product they more or less expect more of the same (I buy a coke to get coke not something new and exciting).
And I think that is the same with added diversity in games. Like people are used to a series of games that was made for one demographic and with a certain humor/style and the new game is then different and changed.
So like with most things I just think that to avoid having a game called "woke" you would have to make a new original game series that is "diverse" from the get go. Aint no different than taking Duke Nukem or Doom guy and change them to be more inline with current day. Just make a new character then.
I see plenty of woke / diverse games that was made with that in mind from the beginning without them having bad reviews or anything. But I also see old game series having diversity added and that leads to people not liking it.
Also ofc I dont need to mention that adding things that is out of place just to be diverse is not a good thing. So maybe dont make a historical game about the Winter war in Finland if you want to tell the story of someone with a racial diverse background / culture.
So that is what I think people have a problem with and now people are just fed up and if they just as much hear the word "diverse" or such then they just do not want nothing to do with it (yes, its a shame for great games but I think those games will manage anyways based on their merits).

The list has one game I'm really expecting for. It would be good, I hope, but its developers tend to talk about some irrelevant political things on their SNS account. I know they are free to do so, but It makes me anxious. I want to know how their work is going, to see some latest pictures instead of their political opinions. Because they are game developers, not a political party.
I don't support SBI regarding the behaviour of their staff and gaming media which covers up for them, and I don't fully agree with people who blame SBI too much aggressive, although these relevant devs seem to mix in certain political things more than necessary in their game itself. I don't want games to be too political. They can be, of course, but I never want them to tell me how to think, how to enjoy or preach to me.

Tbh most rich couples gross me out too, mostly due to many not actually even caring about each other. Fact is many marriages of upper class people are either arraigned or people who marry into money just for the money.
