Yay, glad you gave Night Mind's breakdown of the series a shot. Night Mind has a very interesting way of breaking down various youtube horror series (mostly unfiction stuff) and I swear he doesn't get enough love. His breakdowns of various series are all really well done and concise in how they convey information. Even if you're not familiar with the videos 'This House Has People In It' or 'Unedited Footage of A Bear', Night Mind's breakdown of them are still good enough to go into them blind.

I looked up a diagram of the brain and the part of it that was green is the temporal lobe. I then looked up "does the temporal lobe affect creativity" and bing told me,
"That’s an interesting question. The temporal lobe is a part of the brain that is involved in processing language, memory, and emotions. It also plays a role in creative thinking, but not in a straightforward way.
Some studies have suggested that the temporal lobe can regulate creativity by interacting with the frontal lobe, which is responsible for planning, decision-making, and social behavior. Depending on the type and extent of damage to the temporal lobe, creativity can either increase or decrease.
For example, some people with frontotemporal dementia, a rare form of dementia that affects the temporal and frontal lobes, can develop enhanced artistic abilities and express themselves through painting, drawing, or writing. This may be because the loss of temporal lobe function reduces the inhibition of other brain regions that support visual creativity.
On the other hand, some people with temporal lobe epilepsy, a condition that causes seizures in the temporal lobe, can experience hypergraphia, a compulsive urge to write. This may be because the increased activity of the temporal lobe stimulates the limbic system, which is involved in memory retrieval and emotional expression. However, hypergraphia does not necessarily imply high-quality or original writing, as it may be driven by a manic state rather than a creative insight.
Therefore, the temporal lobe can affect creativity in different ways, depending on how it interacts with other brain regions and how it influences the balance between generation and evaluation of ideas. Creativity is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that involves many cognitive and emotional processes, and the temporal lobe is only one of the factors that contribute to it."

The feelings about MatPat when it comes to the DHMIS theories is that, he and Night Mind reach similar conclusions with a lot of points (in fact, I only watched Night Mind's after hearing so many people claim that his theory was right and Mat's was completely wrong. I could only conclude it was the internet's hate boner for MatPat because of the aforementioned similar conclusions), it's just Night Mind's video is a lot longer and MatPat doesn't break down every individual thing, just the most important parts. I've watched both theories and they're both great. But regarding rewatching, I only really go back to MatPat's vids cause I love his energy and how his voice sounds XD just makes videos more fun

I love seeing people go down the DHMMIS rabbit hole. They always start off "wtf is this why are you showing me this, get away creep" then end up with "OMG THIS IS SO GOOD THEY'RE GENIUSES!!"
When I first saw DHMIS I had just graduated from Polytechnic with a media design degree and I was already so tired of the industry, at least here in Singapore where a lot of things are basically censored if it doesn't align with the government agenda and the creative industry here exists to fill a global market need. Throughout my diploma, I was just told that good design and good creativity can only be in a certain way, because that was what sold. So there were lots of designs, characters and stories became distorted to "sell". I designed and conceptualised a game where you played as a teddy bear that was pulled into a shadow dimension. The amount of "okay but you need to do it this way" was just so tiring. A cute little teddy bear became an abomination because that's what sells in an MMO, even though it wasn't an MMO. We were taught how to make our ideas _seem_ creative, just sprinkle on some surface level colour theory shit or like "follow the light" or "arrange these elements to make an arrow". And it ruined me because you see it everywhere. And its where social media really picked up steam and you see people blowing their load over surface level shit like "OH HE CUT BEFORE THE TOP FELL OVER"
So when I saw the first episode, I understood it immediately.

The creative epsiode is good because it works both ways, it criticises people who reject creativity for strict regulations and people who dismiss traditional works of art as boring and uninspired

People seem to hate matPat for being human I guess. Of course he makes mistakes. I think his Dhmis theories are some of the most solid of any of his theories. And even if it isn't a massive deepdive style, MatPat makes things entertaining at least to make up for any holes he has which he says he knows exists in many of his theories. Theories by existing have possible holes, and are not taken as fact.

I strongly suggest their tv series.
Its a bit less horror and more comedy. Also the deeper meanings are a bit more on the nose and dont require as much visual analysis just story and dialogue analysis.
Also the comedy is actually genuinely funny.
And one of the episodes in paticular nailed the horror even better than any of the youtube "episodes"

I get that some people get tired of the theories but the thing is that's the core concept of Matt Patt's channel as well as all the other theory channels on RUclips, if people don't like a video over a theory or a channel that makes theories then maybe those people should just steer clear from the concept of theory channels and videos because what's the point of watching a channel or video with a concept that you don't like.

also also, this vid is EXPLANATION not a THEORY vid,, pretty different if you ask me
