I think it was Mercedes that made their AI prioritize the driver's safety and not the pedestrian's. So if it comes to a situation where either the pedestrian gets hurt or the driver, the driver has to be kept safe.
Of course, the companies would do that, the drivers bought their product, so you as a consuumer of their product are worth more alive to the company then the pedestrian who might or might not own a mercedes, the company knows you do have one so profit wise it is better to keep you their cash cow alive.
