Pendelum and Link ruined the game. So imagine Pendelum Link Monsters (they can not exist in the anime though). What kind of effect or summoning would they have?
To add to this a bit, for those returning after a hiatus, although TGS hit up nearly everything well already: Synchro- The "Addition" type. Whatever monster you're trying to summon needs a tuner type and the levels need to add up to the level of the monster. How this is achieved is usually not important. I.E. if you try to summon a level eight, you can use a level seven and a level 1, a level six and a level two, and so on. Some monsters will need two or more material though so always read what your target needs as well. There's also two evolved forms of synchro summoning. The first is Accel Synchro Summoning. This is just a fancy way of saying that the monsters used for the Synchro summon must be Synchro monsters themselves. This includes the turners. So in essence you'd: A: Synchro summon two monsters, one of which is also a tuner, or can be made to act like one if some requirement is met. B: You then perform another Snychro using the synchro monsters to bring out the Accel Synchro. If you're thinking that this subset of Synchros must be powerful, you're generally correct, though as with all types of monsters, there's clear winners and losers too. The second is called Double Tuning. These Synchros require two or more Tuners to be used in their summoning, rather than one. Again, some of these monsters are powerful enough to warrant the additional hurdle. XYZ- The "Same Level Type". The easiest to use, you simply need however many monsters the card says it requires, and they must match the Rank of the XYZ. I.E. You want to summon a Rank 8 XYZ that requires three material. You would summon three Level 8 monsters and then overlay them together to summon the XYZ on top. Boom, easy. There also exist "Rank Up" cards that can allow you to summon another higher Rank XYZ on top of one already on the field, in addition to some XYZ cards that can just automatically do this themselves with the right conditions. Neither method is complex and simply reading the cards will inform you of what you'll need to use them. Pendulum: The "I can be a spell too! Type" Pendulum cards are well known for their unpredictability, since they often like to destroy themselves, can summon out a ton of monsters, and depending on their place on the field have different effects. The best way to learn how to use them is to either play test one yourself, or if you've a friend or someone you know that uses them, watch them play. While not difficult to pick up, there's timing to learn for using their effects, summoning and so on. Skilled Pendulum players can make very worrying opponents. Honestly Links aren't difficult. Especially after the revision to Master Rule. Just remember that: A: They can only go into the Extra Monster Slot, unless another link is there first. Then you can have more go to any zone the first one points to. And if you're wondering if it's possible for one player to go all the way to the other Extra zone and rob your opponent of it...yes! Out of the most complex, it's Synchros, and even then only due to needing to make sure your materials add up correctly. Also if you want a strong deck to try to get back into the game without even needing an Extra deck, may I suggest the Monarch archetype?
I thought this was a handy explanation for the ED/Sub Monsters until you said Monarch. But no, this is pretty handy to have for new players, especially since I'm bad at teaching them myself. As for on-hand learning, I recommend building some beginner-friendly decks that are primarily normal monsters and simple effect monsters that have easy to follow effects, like speed warrior and old flip effect cards, to help them get adjusted to the core basics of dueling. Eventually, have them practice making a deck out of a selection of cards you have for them and duel using it. Tried it out of a kid during Thanksgiving, and every time he sees me he would always ask for a duel.
Monarch are a really good recommendation, they are easy to place and its a anti-meta deck as you can break your opponent plays in a lot of ways, the only downside is that you will test the other summoning methods, so I have other recommendations: For Tribute Summon: Monarch For Ritual Summon: Neckroz (Best - Kind Competitive) Blue-Eyes Chaos Max For Fusion Summon: Hero Cyber Dragon (Best - Kind Competitive) ABC For Synchro Summon: Crystron Junk Speedroid For XYZ: Zoodiac (Best - Kind Competitive) Utopia/Onomatopoeia (Best - Kind Competitive) Phantom Knights For Pendulum: Pendulum Magician (Best - Kind Competitive) Performapal Performage (Best - Kind Competitive) Edimynion For Link: Cyberse
Instead of monarch, I recommend using burn deck. Not only It's not using Extra deck, it's very beginner friendly and can piss everyone you duel. It may have some weaknesses but lets be honest, nobody using card that negate effect damage. 10/10 would want to see my opponent rage quit again
@@LuisFelipe-pq9lr I wouldn't suggest Crystron for that actually. @@armarezawigaputra7649 yes it's beginner friendly but burn decks rarely help you learn about specific types of cards compared to dedicated decks. I dont know how you did it, but you managed to summarize basically all card types in less than 10 minutes, I will use this video next time I choose to teach my friend how to play. As far as exceptions to the rules I feel like just saying that the instructions on the card are above all other rules covers it very well.
Eh, it's not too bad when you play often. It's like remembering all of your controls in a video game, but the game progressively increases the the upper limits of complexity every few years.
@@OlaAremu It does up and now in terms of complexity and speed, sylvans were really complex to play and they were a 2013 deck, 2015 were Monarchs and they were definetely less complicated, 2018 combos were far more convoluted than 2020 combos.
@Lady Destiny you mainly used monster gate, reasoning, dimension fusion and sometimes the Creator to summon a bunch of monsters in one turn, there was also Magical Scientist who could summon your whole fusion deck ( resulting as an FTK combined with Catapult Turtle ) I think it's also worth to mention scapegoat who technically summon 4 monster by itself
That's only because there were not much cards than todays that acquire the right resources to get the card off of from the deck. In other words, card effects that can make the owner pick the right card at any selection from the deck made things easier and faster. The choices in the old generation were mainly based on luck of drawing from the deck and just hoping for the best.
i really liked the addition of syncro and xyz. they made the game a lot faster and more skill dependent. with so many options in the extra deck you can make SOME kind of play with almost any starting hand as long as your deck was well built before the game started. i have not actually played with pendulum or link cards yet because they confused the hell out of me for so long, but im sure they end up being fine if i get back into the game. as an aside, i really wish magic would allow more out of deck options for play. Ikoria is my favorite expansion right now because of the companion mechanic. just having the OPTION to do something as a 100% guarantee is really nice. i cant go a week without going 6+ turns without a land card in a 22~26 land deck.
@@jslasher5330 I think Link ends up being even simpler than Tribute summon, at base you just add monsters together to make bigger ones & don't care about levels at all, unlike every other special summoning mechanic in the game except fusion. The only little bit complicated thing about it imo is the 'a link 3 can count as 3 monsters or 1 monster when making a link 4' thing.

At least you don't need to try to use everything at once. You can make 1 deck with 1 main form of extra deck summons, if any, and if it's an archetype with a lot of support the cards are a lot easier to make sense of and put together.
@@ImperialHarbinger Yeah lol that's why I don't get it. A player can start with a Synchro deck and then after that try something else, they don't need to learn everything at once. And even then it's not hard to learn.

Would really be that bad if "Polymerization" and "Fusion" spell cards were thier own unique cards like ritual Spells. And Yes I want to be able to search Dragons Mirror
It probably wouldn't have been an issue when the game is young, but at this point we both have Poly types that span most of the other card types, and many cards explicitly designed against being searchable with generic Fusion support, like, yes, Dragon Mirror(meanwhile fuckin Magicalized can be a "Fusion" card), so both the retcon effort would be huge, and there would be some implications on all sorts of cards, things like effects that search for certain kinds of Poly-likes via keys like Quick-Play
I played yugioh in middle school 20+ years ago. Currently, I play magic and have been wanting to get back into yugioh. You may have been the first person to make this make any sense to me now. Lol. "Back In my Day" we had normal, effect, fusion, and ritual.

I'm kinda confused on Chaining and some "Missed Timing Stuff" I played Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generations and some of the Tag Force Series and they have different ways😌
The chaining stuff is because all the video games play by OCG rules, which have some different behavior from how the TCG handles chaining mandatory effects, Missing the Timing is a bit of a weird concept entirely built on two concepts: Optional Triggered Effects, and When vs If Ok so, when the condition of a triggered effect is met, and said effect is optional, that is, it says "you CAN" rather then just "when x do y" If the wording uses the word If, eg "If your opponent destroys a monster", you can't miss the timing, but must respond to it at the first possible timing if you wish to use the optional effect But if it uses When, you can miss, eg "When your opponent destroys a monster" Missing the Timing occurs when the triggering event(eg, destruction) happens in the middle of a chain, because while the condition was fulfilled, its no longer When the event occurred at the next chance to activate cards, its now the When of the Chain Link 1 card resolving, mandatory effects always go off though, regardless of wording
Bugs me that he only even mentioned polymerization when there are a ton of different fusion spell cards. I agree with your sentiment towards fusion spells having their own spell type.
I WANT THEM TO BE CALLED "FUSION SPELL CARDS" THE ONLY PROBLEM WILL BE WITH QUICK SPELLS, CONTINUOS SPELLS, FIELD SPELLS THAT ARE FUSION SPELLS TOO SUPER POLYMERIZATION WILL BE A "QUICK FUSION SPELL"? WITH BOTH SIMBOLS?
@@enmadaniaisabel1552 no. Just cause it fuses doesnt mean it has to be a fusion spell. There are already monster cards that act as spells, a couple of quick play spells used for rituals, etc. If it would be normal, it would be a fusion. If its a special type it would take that less common type to capitalize on what the specific card does uniquely.
@@ciphymasterofmedia9104 This is the idiots guide, not the lets go over 75 cards guide in all fairness. 2 points I find interesting and it was not covered in video. Quick-play spells cannot be activated the turn they are set on field, but can be played from hand during your turn (even to chain). So keep it in your hand and set at end of your turn if you may use (learned this on link evolution when I used a card that set a spell from deck and was confused why I couldn't activate). When talking about pendulums, you can only summon the pendulums face up in the extra deck to the extra monster zone OR a zone a link points to. This includes your opponents link arrows. This enables you to summon multiple out from the extra deck.

WHERE YOU LEFT?
FUSION, SYNCHRO AND XYZ ARE THE COMMON EXTRA DECK MONSTERS, THEY ARE SUMMONED WITH THE PROPPER MATERIALS
*FUSION:* FUSION SPELL + 2 OR MORE MONSTERS
(CONTACT FUSION JUST NEED THE MONSTERS AND TRANSFORMATION JUST NEED ONE MONSTER AND THE SPELL)
*SYNCHRO:* 1 TUNER + 1 OR MORE NON-TUNER MONSTERS, YOU NEED TO EQUAL THE LEVELS
(SOME SYNCHRO MONSTERS NEED SYNCHRO-TUNER MONSTERS OR 2 TUNER MONSTERS)
*XYZ:* 2 OR MORE MONSTERS OF THE SAME LEVEL AS THE RANK OF THE XYZ (THE RANK IS THE "BLACK FLIPED LEVEL" OF THE XYZ MONSTERS)
(RANK-UP USE ONE RANK-UP MAGIC AND JUAT ONE XYZ MONSTER, SIMILAR TO TRANSFORMATION FUSION)
*PENDULUM:* THEY WORK JUST LIKE NORMAL, EFFECT, FUSION, SYNCHRO OR XYZ MONSTERS
(THE 95% ARE JUST EFFECT OR NORMAL)
THE DIFFERENCE IS THE SPELL HALF, BECAUSE OF THAT NORMAL AND EFFECT CAN BE ACTIVATED AS SPELLS OR SUMMONED AS MONSTERS
(EXTRA DECK PENDULUM ARE ONLY SUMMONED AND THEN THEY HAVE EFFECTS TO PLACE THEMSELFS AS SPELLS)
AS SPELLS YOU GET THE SECOND EFFECT AND IF YOU HAVE 2 YOU CAN USE PENDULUM SUMMON TO BRING MONSTERS THAT ARE BETWEEN THE SCALES
AND WHEN DESTROYED THEY GO FACE UP TO THE EXTRA DECK AND CAN BE SUMMONED AGAIN
*LINK:* THEY ARE LIKE THE OTHER EXTRA DECK MONSTERS (FUSION, SYNCHRO, XYZ) THE DIFERENCE IS THAT LINK MONSTERS DON'T HAVE DEF AND LEVEL/RANK
LINK AND MAXIMUM MODE MONSTERS ARE THE ONLY MONSTERS THAT CAN'T BE ON DEF
THE OTHER THING IS THAT LINK MONSTERS HAVE LINK RATING INSTEAD OF LEVEL/RANK AND THE ARROWS
THE ARROWS HELP TO SUMMON AND TO USE SOME EFFECTS
*MAXIMUM:* THIS CARDS ARE EXCLUSIVE TO RUSH DUELS
THEY ARE SUMMONED WITH 3 CARDS AS ONE TO GET THE MAXIMUM MODE (MORE ATK AND MORE EFFECTS) OR ALONE AS REGULAR CARDS
*SKILL:* THIS CARDS ARE EXCLUSIVE TO SPEED DUELS
THEY ARE SIMILAR TO SPELLS BUT CAN BE USED WHEN YOU WANT AND THEY AREN'T STORED ON THE DECK

@@DTran-je1sn Pure Chaos I guess
D/D/D would like a word
Declan: No lol
@@DTran-je1sn the link card and pendulum cards were not im familiar of. When they did introduce that.
To add to this a bit, for those returning after a hiatus, although TGS hit up nearly everything well already:
Synchro- The "Addition" type.
So in essence you'd:
A: Synchro summon two monsters, one of which is also a tuner, or can be made to act like one if some requirement is met.
Just remember that:
A: They can only go into the Extra Monster Slot, unless another link is there first.
Monarch are a really good recommendation, they are easy to place and its a anti-meta deck as you can break your opponent plays in a lot of ways, the only downside is that you will test the other summoning methods, so I have other recommendations:
For Tribute Summon:
Monarch
For Ritual Summon:
Neckroz (Best - Kind Competitive)
Blue-Eyes Chaos Max
For Fusion Summon:
Hero
Cyber Dragon (Best - Kind Competitive)
ABC
For Synchro Summon:
Crystron
Junk
Speedroid
For XYZ:
Zoodiac (Best - Kind Competitive)
Utopia/Onomatopoeia (Best - Kind Competitive)
Phantom Knights
For Pendulum:
Pendulum Magician (Best - Kind Competitive)
Performapal Performage (Best - Kind Competitive)
Edimynion
For Link:
Cyberse
Instead of monarch, I recommend using burn deck.
Not only It's not using Extra deck, it's very beginner friendly and can piss everyone you duel.
It may have some weaknesses but lets be honest, nobody using card that negate effect damage.
10/10 would want to see my opponent rage quit again
@@LuisFelipe-pq9lr I wouldn't suggest Crystron for that actually.
@Lady Destiny summoning a shit ton of monsters per turn has always been a possible thing, take off your nostalgia glasses pls
@Lady Destiny you mainly used monster gate, reasoning, dimension fusion and sometimes the Creator to summon a bunch of monsters in one turn, there was also Magical Scientist who could summon your whole fusion deck ( resulting as an FTK combined with Catapult Turtle )
I think it's also worth to mention scapegoat who technically summon 4 monster by itself

This video solved any problems I might have had with getting into Yugioh; I won't.
I remember a time when the most complex summoning was ritual and fusion, lol
That's only because there were not much cards than todays that acquire the right resources to get the card off of from the deck.
In other words, card effects that can make the owner pick the right card at any selection from the deck made things easier and faster. The choices in the old generation were mainly based on luck of drawing from the deck and just hoping for the best.
and back in those days, nobody played either seriously. lol
Those were the days
i really liked the addition of syncro and xyz. they made the game a lot faster and more skill dependent. with so many options in the extra deck you can make SOME kind of play with almost any starting hand as long as your deck was well built before the game started. i have not actually played with pendulum or link cards yet because they confused the hell out of me for so long, but im sure they end up being fine if i get back into the game. as an aside, i really wish magic would allow more out of deck options for play.

"Complex" is putting it lightly
Extra deck mechanics are basic to learn, there's some more "complex" things than that.
At least you don't need to try to use everything at once. You can make 1 deck with 1 main form of extra deck summons, if any, and if it's an archetype with a lot of support the cards are a lot easier to make sense of and put together.

Some fusion cards are quick play spells, like Flash Fusion and Super Polymerization. That's why fusion spells arent their own unique spell.

I'm kinda confused on Chaining and some "Missed Timing Stuff" I played Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generations and some of the Tag Force Series and they have different ways😌
The chaining stuff is because all the video games play by OCG rules, which have some different behavior from how the TCG handles chaining mandatory effects, Missing the Timing is a bit of a weird concept entirely built on two concepts: Optional Triggered Effects, and When vs If
Ok so, when the condition of a triggered effect is met, and said effect is optional, that is, it says "you CAN" rather then just "when x do y"
If the wording uses the word If, eg "If your opponent destroys a monster", you can't miss the timing, but must respond to it at the first possible timing if you wish to use the optional effect
But if it uses When, you can miss, eg "When your opponent destroys a monster"
Missing the Timing occurs when the triggering event(eg, destruction) happens in the middle of a chain, because while the condition was fulfilled, its no longer When the event occurred at the next chance to activate cards, its now the When of the Chain Link 1 card resolving, mandatory effects always go off though, regardless of wording

SUPER POLYMERIZATION WILL BE A "QUICK FUSION SPELL"? WITH BOTH SIMBOLS?
@@enmadaniaisabel1552 no. Just cause it fuses doesnt mean it has to be a fusion spell.
