Thalia and Gitrog also make a good Voltron commander. (First Strike + Deathtouch) Give it Trample, and it becomes near impossible to block well. Include Ram Through like effects, and she becomes a murder stick. The additional lands and stax is just a bonus at that point
I really appreciate this video and Deck Tech as I’m relatively new to EDH (having played Standard since Ixalan) and don’t know many of the cards. This let’s put cards in my buy list with context and understanding. Worth a follow for sure!
Extremely new to MtG. Got a haul over at WhatNot and Thalia was one of the cards I scooped up. After making a Miirym and Captain N'gatharod deck I told myself that Thalia and Git would be my new commander. SUPER helpful Deck Tech. Not only did you help me understand this deck, this video helped me start thinking about how to build others. Is there website or tool you use to aid you with figuring out what then deck is lacking (card draw, removal, etc.)?
I use scryfall for all of my builds newer players really find edh rec super helpful. If you look up a commander on edh rec it’ll give you the most popular cards for that commander. 😁
Garruks Uprising is fantastic in a Thalrog deck. It usually replaces itself imediatels due to Thalrog being out, the trample it provides means Thalrog can assign 1 damage to a blocker and the rest to the attacked player, and its triggered ability combines extremely well with Rampaging Baloths, not to mention other big creatures in the deck. Which also get trample from it. EASILY worth spending three mana for.
not going for land animation and zuran orb and second sunrise feels like an overall weaker version of what the land could actually do. Yeah 4 lands a turn are nice, but what about 40 a turn?
That could be a solid route to go! You could include world shaper and splendid reclamation for some consistency. Zuran orb would also add some consistency sense we already run sylvan safe keeper! Solid suggestion
Hear me out. Throw in a grappling hook or a Lure effect. That way, even if the opponent is also going wide, you can force all their creatures to block your first strike, death touch commander so your army gets through without losing any steam for the next attack

We get to be a little greedy in this deck sense we get additional lands and we are slowing our opponents downs 😉

I would ass seeguide ash and rampant rejuvenator. Sac them with the commander and get 2 lands untapped or get 3 forest
Those are definitely some solid cards I really like the idea of sacking them for even more landfall good call! 👍
