Here’s some extra info as to why the KCI combo works. In order for Myr Retriever to bring back Foundry Inspector as well as for Scrap Trawler’s trigger from Foundry Inspector dying to bring back Myr Retriever, they must both die AT THE SAME TIME. They cannot be sacrificed separately, but rather simultaneously. So how? Simple. Abusing mana rules. When you cast a spell, all mana abilities are used simultaneously. So if I cast a Mox Opal, I can sacrifice Myr Retriever and Foundry Inspector at the same time since I’m casting a spell. I know you only need 0 mana for Mox Opal, but technically, you can make more mana than you need. Then the triggers get put on the stack after mana abilities are finished. Myr Retriever returns Foundry Inspector, Scrap Trawler returns Myr Retriever. So technically, one more card is needed for this combo to work. You need a 3rd artifact spell that you can cast in order to abuse the mana rule. Mox Opal works well since you can sac it to KCI and Scrap Trawler can get it back when Myr Retriever dies.
yeah with all the extra mana and cards from skullclamp i'm sure matt could have had spells to make the kci combo actually work, but i rewatched the explanation a couple of times to see if they explained this part (and they didnt!)
It’s tricky to understand. It requires a thorough understanding of how targeting and the stack works. Then you add the mana rule on top of that. This combo actually existed for a very long time and nobody found it. Once it was discovered, KCI was quickly banned in Modern.
@@Slurreful while you're casting a spell, triggered abilities (like those of scrap trawler and myr retriever) don't go on the stack you can trigger those abilities during the casting of a spell by using krark-clan ironworks to pay for that spell, since KCI's ability is a mana ability if you activate KCI outside of casting a spell, you won't be able to get back both things. if you sacrifice myr retriever, you have to target something in your graveyard right away and foundry inspector is not there. if you sacrifice foundry inspector, you have to target something with scrap trawler's ability right away and myr retriever is not there to be targeted. only by sacrificing both creatures during the casting of a spell do you get the opportunity to use myr retriever's ability to target foundry inspector and scrap trawler's ability to target myr retriever
@@brooke1129 i missed it but i did have a mox opal and a mana crypt out during the turn so it really did not matter. This was at the end of 2 long games.
ashnod's also works similarly and is way cheaper, but you can't sac e.g. mox opal with it. there are also so many other wincons than reservoir once you have a loop
Awsome to see my ezuri deck get used!
Heck yeah dude!!!
I love watching combos play out. People normally scoop before anything cool happens.
A single board wipe in a deck is insane lol
That turn was nuts! great game
This episode was great , keep up the good work.
The smoothest plays and the biggest Lady Orca’s
Sure sure but a completed version would be cooler
Love how he kept forgetting to add Moonvessel mana.
Great game!!!! Good job with narration Matt! Sounds good dude!

I still dont get it tbh

Man i need to get my hands on a urtet deck now!
Wait isn’t Thalia and the Gitrog monster not out yet?
Urtet for the WINNNN! I love that Myr xD
I’d love to see a pod with umbris fear manifest in it. So much commander and he’s my favorite one. I built him since he came put
Matt with that bluff about his only board wipe being a CycRift when there's not one in the deck list! 😮
it's a little early for Thalia and the Gitrog monster the card not event avaliable yet !
My god. Jason got out before the storm
This was so satisfying to watch! GG
Hilarious and awesome 😆
sick storm win!
the manual storm on a table of strangers would be actual griefing
Why is Osgir suddenly tapped after entering the field?
Thalia makes your opponents' creatures enter tapped. It's easy to forget about.
Good game xD
Ok so what ur saying is my urtet needs skullclamp, kci (jeeeeesus, 40bucks) aetherflux, and a token doubler
Need is a strong word

You could use a lot of cards as a mana sink once you get infinite mana that win you the game on the spot.
have never seen Osgir win a game
I don't see many games with Osgir in them at all despite being so popular. I took mine apart and just put the precon back together
Oh mine has won PLENTY
Mine does. It is not fast but resilient and can KO out of nowhere
@Max Bodifee Yeah mine has Karn the Great Creator, Ugin's Nexus loops to take multiple turns in BOROS lol.
I've seen an Osgir Swords deck do some pretty nasty stuff.
What is worse than a Sword of Feast and Famine? 2 of them
Plead for your life. Amuse your god.
😂
Osgir lost. I’m out.
Myr is plural
Damn bro that's crazy but like who asked
