  • Stromatapelma calciatum, the Feather leg Baboon egg sack removal and rehouse
Its time to remove the egg sack from our adult Feather Leg Baboon and rehouse her at the same time, these are given a very bad reputation for being very fast and aggressive they are not a beginners spider but handled with respect we can see a different side to them.

Every one of the videos you've shown about supposedly hard-to-handle species is a testament to the effect of your respect on their behavior. I'm sure there have been less-than-publishable encounters but watching adults and babies respond to informed concern says a whole lot about proper husbandry. Love this channel!

So far the most impressive "eggsack removal & rehousing" video, you're amazing sir!
Not only when it comes to setting up the enclosures in a most lovely looking way, you also show us what "be calm, be gentle & love your spider" really is meant to look like. I believe this overall treatment of yours has a great impact on your spiders behaviour, as you were able to show us once more. But the best moment was, when you discovered the plot twist, hilarious!
Share if you like the video, this man has deserved it.

    Hi Dave
I am arachnophobic and for a few years I have proposed to learn about tarantulas; I have read quite a bit of their biology and taxanomics and I follow many tarantula related channels.
Out of all the ones I've come across, yours is the best because you're not trying to put on a show about how dangerous they are or show feeding scenes or glorify attacking stances.
On the contrary, you are showing that if one respects and loves their animals, handling tarantulas does not have to be risky.
I really like that you always teach practical aspects about the biology and environment of each species.
I'm still a long way from being able to hold a tarantula in my hands, but your channel is helping me a lot and my only regret is that I didn't find it sooner.
Greetings from Colombia and sorry for my bad English.

It blows my mind watching you rehouse these so-called 'problem species' without any stress at all. Then I see other videos where the spider is getting defensive, throwing threat poses and striking. It really does show it's all about the keeper, their confidence and experience rather than the actual spider. Love watching such a professional at work!

Magic :O :D I am learning from your paint brush skills, to keep the brush with the spider (unless she turns round to confront it) as you guide her rather than moving the brush back and forth fast, if that makes sense. At first I'd move the brush back quick after every touch just in case there was an attack, but I think in doing so my movement was making the spider more scared.

Hello Dave and Camera Lady! Tis a beautiful day here. I've had an exciting weekend. My g.pulchripes and my n.coloratovillosus molted. My g.pulchripes molted overnight so on Saturday morning i spy this small but bigger lovely creature. Than yesterday after I got home from work i found the other molt from my n.coloratovillosus too. At first I only saw legs and thought she had died but she was just buried in the substate. Both are doing well. Will feed then the end of the week to allow them to harden up.
The t.albo is still rolling her sac around and drinks occasionally and my a.calchodes is still a bit flighty. I think she not liking her current enclosure so will rehouse her a bit later today.
I was astounded as I watched that mum spider slowly and with only a very slight hesitation leave her babies and into her new enclosure. Amazing. She's a lovely specimen too. Those babies should sell well. BTW we stick our fruit flies in the fridge for about ten minutes so that will make them slow down allowing you enough time to put them with slings. You have to move fast though, they do then to wake up fast...lol.
Hope you both had a lovely weekend. Cheers!🍻🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷+ 200!!!

@@daveslittlebeasties WOW! You sold them off quickly. Congratulations. I just love this hobby. I get to meet such great nice people like you and your lovely wife and talk about T's from around the world. But now I have to get cracking since I think I've figured out why my a.calchodes is so twitchy. So I need to rehouse her into a bigger enclosure with deeper substrate so she can dig into it. Later Dave!

Oh the baby feather legs are soooo cute and fuzzy looking!! 😊😊
Such an easy rehouse too, Dave! Couldnt have asked for a better behaved T.
Every time I think I'm ready to buy my 1st tarantula, a house spider shows up and proves me wrong 😂😂 I guess I'll live vicariously thru the pros, like yourself and the wonderful camera lady, a bit longer! 😊

That was amazing! Some would call that very ballsy, lifting a piece of bark full of slings and a mature feather leg momma. She was as calm as you are.
Camera Lady knows her stuff too, very nice technique! Those slings look so healthy and strong, with their little feather legs! 👌👍

I remember that when I first came across your Channel you had about 2,000 subscriptions and after watching you I thought well that shouldn't be! This guy is brilliant! And so knowledgeable. And he and Camera lady make a fantastic team. So fast forward to today and your numbers have crept up and up and I don't think that they're going to stop creeping up. No two people deserve it more. And this fluffy, kind of sassy old broad still considers herself your number one fan🥰
