Today we are going to clean up some of our enclosures that our breeding female avics occupy rather than a complete rehouse we are going to just spruce them up and change the moss and have a general chat about our maintenance .

Hello Dave and Camera Lady! What a treat to watch y’all doing normal maintenance. It gives me warm fuzzy feelings, like hot cocoa on a cold day. ❤ Those little pink feet are just so cute! I have to agree that although the lights look cool, I do miss seeing the actual colors of the enclosures and especially the spiders. I’m curious to see what the addition of white lights will do. So, I am off to 😴 🛌🥱. Thank you for the lovely video. Excellent work Camera Lady. Y’all take care stay safe and enjoy your new home. Good night! 🌘🤠🫶🏻🌚🌙

The red in the growing light is desaturating the green in the moss, that is why it looks different. Opposite colours on the colour wheel do that to each other. If you find the light too much, you can use electrical tape to cover some of the lights to dim it or make the colour more blue or red. 😊👍🏻

Dave, i was interested in tarantulas before but i was intimidated. After my first tarantula escaped its enclosure, due to a loose lid, poor design for a sling, i didnt want to mess with them again. I discovered your channel and i binged watched your videos. They are so great and informative, you got me hooked. Then i got 2 tarantulas to try. Scared of them still i watched them and you. Next thing i know i am super happy again and out of depression. Im pretty sure between the both of those things i feel like my old self again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! Now i have 10 tarantulas which i love all of them. I even moved them with a paint brush and didnt freak out if i had to use my catch cup on a lively one. ❤❤❤❤ i appreciate you so much! Keep up the great work!!

They were so calm. Like they were sipping Margaritas on the beach! WOW I'm excited to see how much your slings have grown. I know you still have a mountain of work ahead of you. And some very difficult decisions to make on cut backs. You are making great progress. I'm sure your spiders are glad to be back under your care! Peace.

I love these "How i do it" videos. Animals need proper care, not just fussiness, and the easier it is on them and the keeper, the better for both. (If plain water does the job, don't use chemicals whose names you can't even pronounce.)

So true about the moisture. I do believe however, that many of the tarantula keepers out there, the relatively experienced ones at least, have arrived to a similar conclusion, but not many are putting it out there. Luckily we have breeders like you spreading the word. Cheers.

Its often difficult to change peoples views after years of being told a certain way is the right way and social media is quick to ridicule anyone who pushes against the grain which is why many will not mention what they do 👍❤️

Honestly I'm new to this, one year now Keeping T's and I only have 10 but I've come to learn you can train them to appear through a series of patterned taps. If I do a food tap on the shelf they all come out except for the ones that are moulting. If I tap for maintenance or just general reassurance they stay put but. I would guess by now (based on my above feeding tap) they know that tap too. I've had them all since tiny slings and the more time I spent with them the more intelligent I see that they are. I'm even inclined to think they could learn tolerate handling more through this method but I'm unwilling to stress them with the time and invasiveness that would entail.

Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕🕷️hope you’re both well and having a wonderful week.
I love when you do a husbandry video 😊 it’s always great to hear your tips on humidity control. It’s always great to see your tarantulas being used to you “banging” around them while they’re only mere inches away from you. You could definitely see a difference between a clean glass or a dirty one Dave 😊😊
Great shots from Camera Lady once again 😊
Take care and enjoy the rest of your week and weekend 💙💕🥰😘xxxx

This video was so relaxing. I really enjoyed listening to you (as always) and watching you revitalize those tanks. I didn't think much of the pink lighting at first, but with the glass now cleaned, I really like it. It makes those tanks pop. Call me weird, but I've always liked that squeaking sound of glass being cleaned. You and Camera Lady have a great weekend.

Grow lights honestly are only needed if you’re doing some serious growing. With stronger lights, plants need more nutrients and water as well, if not all the lights only end up damaging the plant and creating heat. For everything else, like moss, normal white lights are good enough, and they’re nicer on the eyes too. Cheers!

Hate to say it, but I'm not a fan of the new lights, Dave. They deter from the beauty of the spiders and their enclosures. Plus, it's so dark, I couldn't appreciate the work you'd done. No worries, I'm still a fan of you, Camera Lady, and of course your collection though! I sincerely hope the lights help with your plants. I have a ton of plants, but use the ones without the pinkish/purple light, and my plants do great with them, so just my 2 cents.

With you having as many different types of spiders and different needs as you do, do you keep a data base other than what is written on the stickers on your tanks? Or do you just have an amazing memory????? You have said at different times that sometimes a certain spider doesn't need fed as often, do you keep a written account, or is the natural ability to go without feeding a bonus? I do realize that you can look at a spider and know its condition, but you have SO MANY!!! How difficult is it to keep track and do you have aids to help you...? Shelf position, color codes, etc? I tried raising my little house spiders, but the babies are SOOOO tiny LOL Even now they have been seen dropping down between my face and the computer screen...little dots with legs. (there were air holes in the adult containers LOL I even tried 4 layers of cheese cloth and everybody escaped!!)

I have a routine that I generally follow I only need key information on. the enclosures and most are fed as and when I think they need it , no set timing ! its really not so complicated even in a large collection 👍❤️

I'm very interested to see how the new lights effect the plants and spiders. They show up very rosy pink on my laptop screen, altering the colors of everything on that shelf. Will you experiment with just the one shelf of new lighting?

I’m wanting to do lights above my tanks. Everything I’ve read said that purple is the very worst color for tarantulas, which is exactly what yours looks like.
I believe you over anything I read !! Help !!

Hey Dave, I just subscribed! I've had regal jumping spiders for a year, and I'm thinking I want to get a T. I'm looking at a carabiner versicolor and an avicularia. I've heard conflicting advice on whether or not they are okay as a beginner tarantula. Should I try to get something else instead? My hubby is more interested if they are pretty colors. 2 years ago, I was absolutely terrified of spiders. Now, I find they make better company than some people lol. Thanks for the great content!

They are fine choices as long as you feel comfortable around them ❤️👍

I'm sure that I would! Bonus if I carry their enclosure to the door when solicitors go door to door. I might get less vacuum salesman coming to my house LOL@@daveslittlebeasties
